The Democratic Republic of Mandenosia is a very large, safe nation, renowned for its compulsory military service, ubiquitous missile silos, and suspicion of poets. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 163 million Mandenosians are free to succeed or fail in life on their own merits; the successful tend to enjoy an opulent (but moralistic) lifestyle, while the failures can be seen crowding out most jails.

The relatively small, moralistic, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Industry, Defense, and Law & Order. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 8.8%.

The frighteningly efficient Mandenosian economy, worth 16.4 trillion Drachmas a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Retail, and Uranium Mining. Average income is an impressive 100,480 Drachmas, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 471,176 per year while the poor average 12,775, a ratio of 36.9 to 1.

Production of license plates has dropped as prisoners' hands are far too greasy to operate machinery, frequent broken zippers have resulted in safety pins making a fashion comeback, a firework a day does not in fact keep the doctor away, and the revelation that people were sexist in the past is apparently front page news. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force. Mandenosia's national animal is the Brain Cell, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Mandenosia is ranked 198,439th in the world and 4,704th in The North Pacific for Largest Publishing Industry, scoring 111.83 on the Bella Potter Productivity e-Index.
