Tavern (excerpt)
by LinkEdna St. Vincent Millay

I'll keep a little tavern
Below the high hill's crest,
Wherein all grey-eyed people
May set them down and rest.

There shall be plates a-plenty,
And mugs to melt the chill
Of all the grey-eyed people
Who happen up the hill.

A cloaked stranger walks into the tavern, paying little attention to the other patrons in the tavern and sitting at an empty table in the corner waiting to be served

The Lightbringer stumbled back into the tavern. He knew he shouldn't have fallen asleep, he knew he shouldn't have let the tavern slip away. That didn't help him now, though - it seemed like the new owners that had moved in while he was dreaming about Rielle were competent enough to run the bar, not that he had had any plans to do so. He checked to take his belongings, which he hoped were still in his room - indeed, the keepers had left them for him - and plunked them down at a small table.

The stranger glances over at the one who calls themself "The Lightbringer", curious and cautious of this newcomer. They observe them as they sit there, cloaked in the shadowy corner table at which they sit.

The stranger begins to become impatient as they wait for the tavernkeep or any other customers to appear, considering either leaving the tavern, which they didn't particularly care to do, or perhaps causing some chaos of sorts to get things moving in here, playing with a dagger as they considered their options.

Audric watched, amused, as the barkeep grabbed the stranger by his cloak and threw him out a window. He'd been slightly intimidated by the stranger - a bit ironic, of course, for he was the Lightbringer - and felt fortunate that he had removed.

Audric returned to his drink, deciding that he would bed at the tavern for the night and then continue on to Ame de la Terre in the morning.
