Yeah but nobody should want 100% free speech because that would be chaos. It should 100% be illegal to cause mass panic by shouting “fire” or “bomb” in a crowded public area or to say “Let’s go kill everyone from this specific group”.

Nobody said anything about banning them, this is you instinctively jumping to defend them, which radiates suspicious vibes.
Now you're arguing that hate speech = free speech, do you even know what hate speech is?
We already outlaw incitement of violence, we outlawed encouraging suicide, we have outlawed child porn and the US has outlawed threatening its president.
Facts are simple, we have already restricted various forms of speech and expressions to protect individuals and groups, but yet people still think that going out and claiming sick hateful nonsense about gays or other marginalised groups is okay because it's a right to expression?

Cambridge dictionary: "public speech that expresses hate or encourages violence towards a person or group based on something such as race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation," it's kind of a no brainer that it should be illegal.

I'll give a little opinion about this: everybody knows that hate speech is harmful, speaking about killing, segregating, or any other form of violence is clearly hate speech and is basically a threat (ex. if I say that I want to beat all the people with curly hairs because I consider them inferior, well that's a threat).
In these years the problem was more in the gray areas, from ideas and parties that were odd and aggressive, but not openly speaking about violence.
A good example is what happened with Capitol Hill on 06/01, at first it was only a "rigged election" claim and people didn't tought it was too extreme, but the outcome was an assault at the congress, and only at that point it was clear that it was hate speech.
