I don't think so... I don't remember leaving school at 10 only knowing how to read and write.

I mean the grading system, that rule where you can't interact with other human beings, etc...

Velaland

Thanks for the endorsements NorthPortugal and North German Confederation. I’ve endorsed you guys back.

Our school system needs to be more patriotic, also if you finish your work you should be able to go home and not sit for hours

I agree both with Sicily and Imperium Anglorum. I realise there are different éducational systems in different countries, so my opinion is based on Russian school model where I happened to get my primary education.

Our schools at first tend to give you as wider spectrum of knowledge as possible, just like IA says. While you get the basic idea of how the world works you find something more interesting so once you get closer to mid/high school you get your prioritised classes and the other with less workload.

It’s very important to know the basic universal knowledge, sometimes I feel sad when I like someone at first but then cannot talk about something very basic because they just [unbelievably] don’t know it

I mean specifically the education systems that are in the UK and the USA. Those need to be fixed.

How about less patriotic? I'm not pledging allegiance to a country if I don't want to, I'm not singing the national anthem if I don't want to. Less patriotic. More patriotic would likely result in making people more radical in patriotism and blind to facts.

Hmmm. I do somewhat agree. In some ways patriotism is ok, but there is a limit. The US education system isn’t necessarily patriotic, but more nationalistic. What I do wholeheartedly agree with is the finishing work in School.

As Sal Khan once said in a tedtalk:

"And the inspector comes and says, "OK, the concrete is still wet right there, that part's not quite up to code, I'll give it an 80 percent. That's a C. Let's build the next floor"

The grading system in my opinion is broken too.

what? you interact with people all the time in school.

At least we did when I was in school...

Yeah. I’m somewhat confused on what you’re talking about. I think you’re thinking about a rule that was made because of bullying or harassment of some kind most probably. It’s probably specific to the school you went to.

Greater Icelandia wrote:The grading system in my opinion is broken too.

It really is. We shouldn't be graded really at all, but have creativity and innovation prioritized. Yes, things like math are useful, but who's gonna use... say the Pythagorean Theorum? Well, I'm definitely not...

Good luck doing that in a classroom anywhere in America. You... literally cannot talk to anyone.

I mean that argument is somewhat flawed but I get where you’re getting from.

In other words, make our dreams have some meaning.

I assume my assumption that it was made because of bullying or some kind of harassment is correct?

No. It's because of the Industrial Revolution. Everything wrong with schools here today can be traced all the way back to that.

Hmmm?
