I feel like this might never stop, but yes.

Also, what is this "Best Nation" thing?

So, how does a minor nation such as myself get involved in European Government? I want to help out and get involved in any way I can, and I am just wondering what I could do.

What is government?

Like all organisations, Europe must have an organiser. Europe's government has existed since the start of NationStates, established around the same time as the region. We were one of the first regions to pioneer the concept of the Linkoff-site forum to organise our region, and to this day, we still do so.

These pages primarily involve the dealings of the regional executive, which is composed of the Founder and the Delegate. The Delegate operates and manages the day to day operations of the region whilst the Founder takes and oversight capacity to prevent any rogue Delegate from taking control of the region and doing horrid things. Effectively, it operates in a manner very reminiscent of constitutional monarchy.

The Delegate appoints regional officers, which, with the exception of Commissioners, are members of the Cabinet. This has the effect of bringing more perspectives and ideas into government as well as keeping some form of administration open at all times. The executive is responsible for the day-to-day running of the region.

How is government organised?

The regional government is organised around four major bodies: the Executive, the European Parliament, the European Council, and the European Commission.

The Executive has always existed, and is made up of the Founder, the Delegate, and the members of the Cabinet. The Delegate is elected by the WA members of the region, who are also called electors (for that reason). The members of the Cabinet are appointed by the Delegate. Since the executive used to be the only body of government, the term 'Government', with a capital G, is used to refer to this body.

The European Parliament was an ad hoc legislative body to express the will of Europe. It is made up of WA members, i.e. electors. After the passage of the Government Act 2017, the region's founding constitutional document, the European Parliament gained broad legislative authority. The legislation passed by the Parliament, along with a record of its votes, can be found below:

The European Council was too formed by the Government Act 2017. It created a court to review judicial decisions and interpret statutes. This body also serves as the region's election commission.

The European Commission was created in December 2017 by the Government (Reform) Act 2017. It empowers three people, elected on rotating three month terms, to bring legislative proposals before the European Parliament.

Commissioners are elected to three month terms, with each commissioner being elected per month. This rotating system of election is similar to the system used in the United States Senate to space out the six year Senate terms to have elections every two years. These officers are granted authority over polling and are not considered members of the Government, who are appointed solely at executive discretion. These people are meant to write or change the laws by which Europe is governed.

Members of the European Commission, along with the Delegate, Home Secretary, and Foreign Secretary, make up the Moderation Committee, which is tasked with moderating the region's Regional Message Board.

How can I join the Government?

Government is a job of great responsibility. It requires peace of mind and a dedication to doing what is right and just for the region. If you believe you are able to take on those responsibilities, speak to one of the officers of the government (Delegate and regional officers), or click on the other tabs at the top of the screen to learn more about the Home Office and the Foreign Office, the two main branches of the government.

If you would like to see appointment to the Government at some level, contact the relevant officers.

Read dispatch

I might have suggested joining our Foreign Office as we are in need of ambassadors, but you are quite a new member of our region and we are not too familiar with you yet, so I don't know what your prospects would be in that regard. If you stay in the region for a decent amount of time and are an active community member, your chances would improve.

As for involvement elsewhere, you may need to ask someone more qualified than me.

Imperium Anglorum Why aren't they banned yet? That's a direct admission. Also, this is not the first time this nation has come under suspicion. I was checking it a few months ago, and found in the RMB of some raider region that this nation was writing about a raid on Europe
