Declaration of the Republic!

Aja Daramy, the newly declared President of Boguila pronounced the creation of the Boguilan Republic today following the deposition and execution by firing squad of the king, ending the monarchy and starting a new day as a Republican government.

A new interim government under the direction of the national military has been established to serve as the caretaker government until elections can be scheduled for next year.

Prime Minister James Marshal is both disturbed and appalled at the actions taken by the Boguilan government. While Mediama values its republican values, it does not condone the use of violence and force to establish said values. Additionally, given the circumstances leading up to the announcement, Prime Minister Marshal posits questioning the legitimacy of Boguila’s democracy, and how it came to be that Mister Daramy attained his position? Especially given he had just recently been a general in the Boguilan army before his declaration.

Given the rhetoric espoused by the Boguilan government, and by extension its military, Prime Minister Marshal is led to believe that rather there being a new republic, Boguila is in the grips of a military junta unless said government could prove otherwise.

As such, Mediama will be providing resources to not only support Liegalla’s humanitarian efforts, but also will be taking in asylum seekers as well. Additionally, sanctions will be enacted as well on military technology, dual-use technology, and other major Boguilan industries such as timber until the situation can be resolved diplomatically.

Should Boguila attempt to infringe on Liegalla’s sovereignty or interfere in either Liegalla’s or Mediama’s humanitarian efforts, military force will be authorized.
