The North Pacific Army

The North Pacific Army is exactly that: a military organization of by and for the nations of The North Pacific region. It serves the region, as administered by its elected government. The army exists not to raid or to defend but to serve regional policy and sustain itself, and in that it can be considered centrist.

The NPA was first founded in late 2003 under The Twoslit Experiment’s direction. It was composed of those TNP nations who had rallied to the cause of freeing the Pacific from Francos Spain and his New Pacific Order, and soon joined the broader movement for freedom and against invaders. The NPA worked closely with the Alliance Defense Network, of which TNP was a member. TNP also joined the Allied Liberation League. (Both defender organizations).

The most important (for TNP) and large action by this NPA was its participation in the allied liberation effort led by Ballotonia, then of Nederland and ALL, to liberate TNP from its occupation by the New Pacific Order through the ALSO puppet regime in summer 2004, celebrated today in TNP as Liberation Day (July 28th). The NPA also participated in the defense and liberation of numerous other regions.

During the winter and spring of 2005 in the Pixiedance wars, the NPA found it harder to act. Moderation found many of the unendorsement tactics used against Great Bight to be illegal spam. Ultimately the situation was resolved through the exhaustion of the tyrants and covert operations by the ADN.

Following the constitutional convention of 2005 and adoption of the constitution, the NPA continued as a defender army. During 2006 it faced off against The Lexicon Army and others a number of times in various smaller regions.

By 2008, the NPA had largely fallen apart due to inactivity. Indeed, Lewis and clark declared it dissolved shortly before he went rogue. The shocks of several rogue delegacies had shaken TNP’s commitment to defenderism. Perhaps worse, for several months the NPA had been led by Galapagos isle, who it turned out was a mole from The Black Hawks intended to weaken it through inactivity. The most severe of these, the Crimson Order of February-April 2008, being led by Lewis and Clark aka Westwind, a former defender ally of TNP, may have given further capital for change. With the election of Eluvatar (Zemnaya Svoboda) in May 2008, a new ‘neutral’ NPA was organized, with a mission of pursuing regional interests only. Unfortunately for it, this did not provide great room for activity and this NPA was unable to grow or sustain itself for very long. One notable accomplishment however was its aggressive response to Gatesville’s declaration of war in late 2008, taking two Gatesvillean outposts.

In 2012, with some resurgent activity in the game, TNP became ready to build a new NPA. After considering trying himself or appointing Haxstree, Blue Wolf II appointed McMasterdonia, then a new player, to be the first new Minister of Defense. McMasterdonia then solicited advice from various old hats, launched a massive recruitment campaign, and built a new institution. In its early days there was much debate as to whether the NPA should be “Neutral,” “Independent,” or defender once more. Ultimately, the Regional Assembly passed a law banning the NPA from griefing but otherwise mostly leaving its operations to the discretion of the elected Delegate and their Minister of Defense.

This NPA has supported its allies in the South Pacific, Osiris, and Stargate against coups and invasions; it has assisted in Delegacy transitions in allied regions such as Equilism; it has seized Warzone regions as training operations; it has assisted in a number of liberations including that of our fellow Game Created Region of Lazarus; it has raided a number of regions, always scrupulously following the rules laid down in the NPA Doctrine; and it has reinforced several raids by other militaries. There is more that the NPA can, and will, do in its broad mandate to protect The North Pacific, support its allies, and maintain readiness.
