"Did we get anything?" Yen hissed, this entire plan was going sideways. Somehow, they had attracted the attention of a government. Certainly not the Eurasians with how stealthy the entire operation was.

"Must from those CUF or... some other merc company, seems like them," The mercenary from last point said, leaning down next to Tennit's corpse. Hands dipped into the corpse's blood. "Fast, and efficient too. No bullet wounds, so they were definitely intent on making sure no one heard them coming too. Shame, would have been quite a fight."

"So, we're back to square one. Without the pot, without the writings, and with a severe lack of resources?" The mercenary nodded.

"Don't think that your god can help with you this?" He asked, and Yen paused. The little cultist gears in his brain started turning whilst the merc continued. "I heard you say your god was the god of absurdity, why not sacrifice, or ask him. I don't know how he works, in order to get the pot back to you?"

"Why are you a mercenary of all things?" Yen asked as he began dragging Tennit's body, his mind having an idea well thought of.

"Don't have a high school degree, I only how to shoot well," The merc shrugged, before pausing and looking at what Yen was doing. "Are you sure an elbow should bend like that...?"

"Quiet, maybe Rhfein will bless us now..." Yen said as he carried out his ritual. Chanting something in Chinese as he cut open and mutilate Tennit. "...Oh forgive our failures thine lord, and please help us..."

There was a clap of thunder in the sky, and Yen and the merc's attention was drawn to the port side. Watching as a lighting storm unfurl and began striking some patch of water next to their ship.

It was quite clear what that meant.

The sound of a cane is heard as the Grand Imperator enters the grand dining room that his guests sit waiting at. Accompanying him is a group of guards and other important Eurasian officials. He smiles apologetically to his guests.

“I am terribly sorry for the delay, Admiral. I am a very elderly man, and cannot move as quickly as I once did. However, I am glad that I am finally able to meet you, face to face.”

“Allow me to introduce my companions. Standing to my right is my Wrath, Grand Duke Vladimir Murmanov-Putin. Standing to my left is my Voice, Grand Duke Nicholas Murmanov-Stalin. Standing next to the Wrath is the Imperial Minister of Foreign Affairs, Duke Maximus Murmanov. Next to the Voice is the Grand Duchess of Poland, Czesława Murmanova, who requested to be in attendance. There is also the Imperial Minister of Culture and Education, Josef II, and the Imperial Senator of Eurasia, Konstatin Molotov. You perhaps may of heard of Senator Molotov due to his time as Secretary of Defense for the Confederation. Now that I have introduced my colleagues, shall we dine?”

The Grand Imperator gestures towards the large table in the middle of the room.

I just have it in case my wife, Senator Isabella Stuart-Jones from American Pere Housh, my longtime ally, needs me if our daughters, Abigail and August, are struggling. But yes, let us dine.” The Admiral said with a smile as she pulled out a chair for her companions then sat herself at the table

The Workers’ Party of Daulmārk, in conjunction with the local, regional and national Labour Councils, as well as the soldiers councils, have decided to respond to the Glukřwz Situation with great and immediate force. This is to be considered a declaration of invasion, The Daulmārkian People’s Army will be deployed to retake the western side of the Republic of Glukřwz, as well as the east, as it is clear that they are not under enough monitor and control.

King Alec III in Slovenska:"Gentlemen, the situation isn't ending well. The CUF has tried stealing it, and will likely die doing so. Let's take a different approach, make a deal with the Fifth Crusade for two curators to go to Reinhardt Port B. Then get an archeologist and a negotiater and buy a fishing boat. That relic has some sort of special powers that the terrorists can use to defend themselves, so military action won't work. The team will go in unarmed, but make sure that the negotiator and archeologist have radios in case things go wrong, and give everyone body armor. Also, they will take cameras and 3d scanners so we can have details on the relic."

Medici Empire press conference
8:05 p.m

The journalists are feverish, the announcement must be made any minute. Suddenly, the door of the room opens and appears Sebastiano Di Ravello, the features drawn, these last days have seen dark and eventful days for the empire, more isolated than ever. The General slowly leans over the microphones and begins his announcement:

"Gentlemen, it goes without saying that the empire is entering a difficult phase in its history. The past war and the actions of the Republican government have seriously damaged our reputation within the region.

The recent accusations made by the Shadow Cult leave us the choice of occupation by the forces of the region for the stability of our government, or a refusal that will lead to a bloody conflict. Our army has always been loyal to Jocospor. Our men died for him.

Finally, the negotiations leading to nothing and some nations wanting our downfall more than anything else, I made the decision to temporarily accept the occupation of the Medici territories to end this toxic case.

However, I would like to say to my dear citizens, do not despair, a new day will soon dawn.

I ask for details as to the number and which nations will occupy which parts of the empire. We claim the right to choose the occupants of the territories of the empire. Moreover, this occupation should be, and I insist, temporary. We ask for a maximum of 2 months of occupation.

In addition, we will have the ability to dismiss the occupying forces in the event that conflicts with the population arise. The army and the government will always be the supreme authority in the empire and the occupying forces will have no other missions than that announced by the Shadow Cult. Only armored vans and infantry will be allowed. The occupying forces may be subject to control by the authorities of the empire. The occupants will not be more than 3 or even 4.

More details will have to be submitted to us. Thank you."

Culture

To remedy the symptoms of a presentation of illness, it is imperative that the actual disease must be accurately diagnosed and treated. As the fundamental basis of medical practice, we can all accept this axiomatically as reasonable and logical. It is simply the most sensible course of action from the perspective of utilitarian resource distribution, in the interests of cutting down on waste and targeting desired results with the least amount of resource consumption that is necessary. Furthermore, medicine also increasingly emphasizes preventive services over the curative aspects which are more prevalent in the average person's unconscious assumptions of a physician's responsibilities. If the disorder can be prevented from emerging in the first place, then resources do not have to be expended to counteract its ruinous development. As it is for the human or any other living organism, so it must also be with the state, which is in so many ways an extension of the human personality across the void of infinity. The civil war was merely a symptom of an underlying disease, and we may consider it requisite to preventing another, more catastrophic outbreak that this disease is routed as quickly and aggressively as it is within the capabilities of our superiors to manage. My diagnosis for the disease was already laid out months ago, when I warned of the sinister creep of liberalism into the institutions and the milieu of Confederation culture, yet my predictions were cast aside as the excessively grandiloquent pronouncements of a self-indulgently verbose windbag. Now that history has vindicated me, whatever one may say of my manner of personal conveyance, I feel confident in saying that the government-yet-to-come should consider the reification of the Confederation's common cultural foundations a chief priority. The Imperial Senate was fraught with petty grievances and individualistic fractioning of parties. Its unspoken creed was exactly that of all parliamentarism, which is irresponsibility of assemblies, lack of discipline, and frictions between private cliques. Each party represented a clique, and some parties contained more than one. For instance, the old NAP contained the clique of Hazelwood and the clique of Whittfield, and the friction which inevitably arose tore the NAP asunder and made the elementary policymaking process more convoluted and difficult. Insofar as partisanship may be permitted to continue, frictions such as this will only increase, leading to compromise, deadlock, and unsatisfactory half-measures. Only the ISV and Whittfield's NUF, out of all the parties, have had any notion of recognizing, encompassing, and surpassing the moment of difference between the interest groups of the people, thus absorbing and synthesizing them into the total unit of what Zendirism describes as the New State. The establishment of a Despotate to exercise the concentrated powers of the entire Imperial Senate may have been decided under a state of advanced exasperation by the Imperial Council, but it is a supremely laudable move which can only bode well for the tides of progress. For now, I invest full faith in the Council's appointee that they may guide the lower tier of government with decisiveness, equity, and mental lucidity. Some recommendations that I may have for encouraging the consolidation of the Confederation would be to declare the Confederation as a pan-national entity unto itself, possessing and exercising the collective right of popular sovereignty against the preposterous "Liberation" resolution of the World Assembly Security Council, but more importantly, possessing and exercising those rights exclusively. There are too many Confederation member states who see the Confederation as a provider of benefits to which they are principally entitled before owing any responsibilities in turn. These states want to insist upon their individual right as nation-states against the overarching cultural unity which is apparent in the Confederation at large, and they maintain a selfish attitude of prioritizing their own protection from the malignance of outside forces over the higher duty to serve the Confederation above themselves. Yet the proper understanding if the Confederation is to endure ought to be the other way around: The sovereignty of the Confederation should take precedence over the "sovereignty" of the member states; no sacrifice should be too great and no obligation too burdensome. The democratic nonsense of the Senate only gave these selfish impulses unrestricted expression, and if the submission of the Senate to the Despot is to accomplish only one thing from my position, it ought to be the resolution of this particular point in favor of the Confederation's pan-national supremacy over "individualism of the peoples."

Infrastructure

Another great project which may be undertaken to more perfectly unify the Confederation as an indivisible, self-contained, total quantity concerns the construction of proper infrastructure to unite the member states of the Confederation and facilitate the flourishing of interstate commerce. Industries are the life-sustaining organs of the state, responsible for producing goods and services that uphold the entirely of national life, yet it is also undeniable that it is government infrastructure which ultimately upholds the entirety of industry. The judicious involvement of the state in the construction of public transportation networks such as municipal roads, freeways, tunnels, bridges, railways, subways, etc. underpins the profitability of business enterprises by enabling greater ease of resource allocation which in turn serves the logistical needs of industrial production and commodity distribution. Here, the eminent reality can be observed that the presumed justice of autonomy in the "private sphere" is at its foundations a colossal jest which no serious-minded person ought to speak of. Private industry can only succeed with the support of government; rather than affirming the rights of private industry to be "free" from government intervention, it follows that government should enforce its rights to its proper share of the profits which are netted by private businesses. A stringent system of taxation which enforces the state's rights to its proper, substantial share of every private fortune and company profit margin would suffice to finance massive public works projects further interconnecting the industries of the Confederation. This will further aid in efficient distribution of materials down supply chains and boost productivity and profitability, in addition to sustaining a large workforce which will consequently reduce unemployment and promote our own people's elevation out of the poverty which a prolonged internal conflict so often brings. The increased productivity of businesses will correspond with an increase in consumption, and the resultant increases in profitability can be subjected to a progressive system of taxation in order to finance further public works in addition to other state-subsidized projects which promote the people's welfare. It should not be understated that these public works programs dovetail perfectly with any pan-national initiative, as an interconnected commercial infrastructure invariably permits interconnection of social structures. This should aid in breaking down the barriers of obdurate provincialism and bring to light the natural organic unity of the Confederation in its entirely over any particular sub-national loyalty.

Finance

Before the civil conflict over Vocryae, there was serious debate over the methodology which ought to be applied in the creation of a financial system for the Confederation, with some favoring a national bank to exercise monetary policy, others favoring a wholly nationalized banking system, and still more arguing that no central banking authority should exist at all. The devastation of civil conflict has doubtlessly resulted in immense loss of life and destruction of property. If reconstruction is to be coordinated expeditiously in adherence to a rational program, it will necessarily require a system of finance, as loans will have to be taken out by both government and the private sector to rebuild public and private infrastructure, restore stability to civilian life in housing and employment situations, and achieve rapid reindustrialization. All these objectives must be pursued promptly lest the dual millstones of crime and poverty crush the people of Jocospor and other Confederation member states into a miserable and perpetual state of discontent, which can only drive them into the arms of communist agitators who will use subtle rhetorical tricks and outright deception to transfer the blame from the so-called "Traditionalist" faction to the Loyalists who ultimately prevailed. The solution which seems to be prescribed by the situation is the provision of low-interest loans to households, businesses, and governments of Loyalist member states to finance their own various reconstruction efforts. The means by which this solution may be accomplished should be the compulsory cartelization of all financial institutions into a state-controlled syndicate, with the aim of circumventing competition, depressing interest rates, encouraging inflationary monetary policy and conversely combatting unemployment, and financing the reclamation and renovation of damaged property. Valuable assets from Traditionalist member states may also be seized and liquidated by the Confederation government for the purpose of allocating funds to direction of reconstruction efforts in Loyalist member states.

Labor

The primary selling point of communist ideology is the Marxist theory of historical materialism. As everyone knows, this theory claims that the socioeconomic history of humanity occurs by dialectical synthesis of classes into new systems of property organization, among which capitalism (defined according to Marxism by antithetical opposition of classes of proletariat and bourgeoisie) is considered to be the precursor to proletarian socialism. Without debating the application of the Hegelian dialectic here to this end, it should come as no surprise that class-conflict ideology is especially attractive to lower socioeconomic strata in nations where immense inequalities in wealth exist, due to resentment by these strata of insufficient wages for the execution of their productive functions. The proposal of a system which will consolidate labor and capital interests into occupational syndicates will sidestep the threat of future communist revolution by eradicating the causes from which class-struggle ideology finds its greatest strength, as the unmitigated greed of competitive market mechanisms and the utter impotence of labor interests under the indifferent auspices of neoliberalism are replaced by fair, collaborative arbitration through the medium of the state apparatus. This possibility should not be inauspicious to the interests of capital either; on the contrary, support extended to these syndicates through institutional mechanisms of the state will reward capital just the same as labor, which is to say to the degree requisite to its contributions to the functioning of the economy and the maintenance of the state. Only disloyal capital and labor interests have any reason to oppose the establishment of such a system, which is naturally to say the plutocrats and communists both manifest their true nature as opposite sides of the same coin, defined by the same placement of particular interest, whether individual interest or class interest, over national interest and state interest. Ultimately, both act to the detriment of the state and bring doom down upon not only themselves, but also true nationalistic elements as well.

Industry

The development of a sprawling commercial infrastructure through subsidy by the Confederation government will serve to increase efficiency of resource distribution, boost production, and unify social, cultural, and economic relations among member states to achieve a more total unity, but it is equally important to the coordination of the entire pan-national union that industries spanning across the various member states are not merely permitted to function in total autonomy from one another. Autonomous, unsupervised management of the industrial base follows a laissez-faire mentality about the fluctuation of markets that inevitably results in the emergence of frictions which frustrate the maximum potential output of the factors of production. Rather, it is vital that the entire Confederation economy is integrated into a singular, central framework, in order so that targeted policies of intervention can be consolidated into a unified program for action. Ad hoc interventions staged on a disorganic basis are simply insufficient to engineering preconditions of industrial harmony and justice. The health of the state requires a lucid conception of material objectives, a delineation of the proper sphere of activity in which an industrial enterprise is considered to pursue socially productive ends, and a will to counteract the fluctuation of any variable in the systems of production that begins to exceed this sphere of activity. In other words, the state must be vitally active to orient industry towards serving the pan-national entity, which requires a large degree of macroeconomic planning and even microeconomic planning. However, this system must not be permitted to achieve socialistic objectives of obliterating the technical standards of the market economy. Indeed, this program may only be effective insofar as the structure of the market economy is preserved. Let us not forget that it was the Bolshevik scum who began the Vocryae incident and threw the Confederation into disarray. Let no one doubt that their end goal, the abolition of private property, would necessarily result in the extinction of the human personality itself, as the entrepreneurial drive which is necessary for the efficient organization of the systems of production would be extinguished with it. The socialist planned economy is a monstrous failure; bureaucratic planners who endeavor to micromanage the logistical aspects of resource distribution routinely underestimate the living requirements of consumers and miscalculate the movements of inputs down supply chains. Thus, famine, poverty, and desolation are the perennial consequence of communist attempts at staging a revolution. Indeed, I would even recommend that to the extent possible socialist member states ought to be compelled to begin large-scale privatization by the Confederation government, to generate more taxable revenue for reconstruction. The model which the Confederation government ought to pursue with the awesome power concentrated in its apparatus is a system that will subjugate private industries to the state, in order so that the state may utilize private industry as a controlled instrument for promoting material recovery of the Confederation's war-ravaged people.

Abolition of Unearned Income

Just as my support for the responsibility demonstrated by industrialists when endowed with a private stake in the ownership of industry should not be misconstrued as a liberalistic support for the automatic fluctuations of unregulated markets, so it should also not be interpreted as a show of support for the beneficence of private enterprise in every field. Rejecting the labor theory of value, Zendirism applauds the class of entrepreneurs when subjected to the stable discipline of careful state supervision, but an entrepreneur's naturalistically molded social function involves the application of a superior rationale as regards the organization of the factors of production to achieve the most utilitarian use of all available resources, guided by the profit motive. An entrepreneur is not the same as a landlord, a rent-seeker, a speculator, or a lender, all of which are manifestations of financial parasitism which represent exploitation of the people through debt creation, gambling on the fluctuation of market values of commodities, and unproductive manipulation of the natural inequalities in distributions of land resources. As such, it is entirely responsible for the state to usurp major functions of the economy directly, in order to liberate the public from enslavement to these widespread yet fraudulent practices. Likewise, the incomes of private economic actors which accrue capital through "enterprises" classified as financially parasitic ought to be seized to fill the state's coffers.

Health and Safety

The state has a primary responsibility to ruthlessly defend the common weal, even and especially when the material requirements for achieving the common weal contradict the requirements for securing the welfare of a foreign people. The civil conflict which has wreaked such havoc upon the Confederation has brought many of our own people to an abject state of misery and despair. Just as I previously recommended that the Confederation government must take extraordinary, thrusting action to protect the livelihoods of the people from further degradation, I now advise that the state must develop a centralized public healthcare system that will guarantee the well-being of every Confederation subject. The method which I would prescribe is a single-payer system funded out of the coffers of the Treasury, extended throughout every Confederation member state, to insure a certain amount of coverage of medical costs no matter the particularity of local circumstance. In addition, as hygiene concerns not only medicine but also working conditions, a list of official guidelines ought to be implemented governing TLVs (transient limit values) and BEIs (biological exposure indices), in order to protect workers against hazardous levels of exposure to potentially toxic substances in industrial plants. Some consideration should also be given to more generous guarantees of work week regulation and unemployment insurance.

Utilities

In The Art of War, Sun Tzu infamously impressed that it is always preferable if the master strategist can compel his adversary's surrender without even waging the battle at all. Following this advice, it seems obvious that a simple way of crushing a rebellion before it has even begun is to starve the essential living requirements of the rebellious provinces, such as heating and air conditioning, telephone and cable services, use of all electrical appliances, and access to petrol reserves, among others. As the standards of all modern industrial economies, whether capitalist or socialist, require services for the provision of energy and water, it therefore makes sense that the Confederation government should nationalize utilities throughout the region under a state-owned conglomerate. Without either of these things, a statelet with designs of a revolt would have no hope to resist the merciless strike of the Confederation Defense Force (CDF). On the contrary, being met with the threat of such overwhelming force and reduced to miserable living standards, the rebels would have no option but to surrender, and the people who might have supported them would despise them for bringing the wrath of Vocryae upon their heads for their middling goals. At another level, the nationalization of major utilities is desirable from the perspective that such utilities represent mere manipulation of the resources of the natural world, with no personal creative involvement required to enhance the commodity form of the product beyond that which is necessary to sustain the civilized living standards of a polity. Whereas in the instances of electric power and oil refineries, ingenuity is required to increase the level of efficiency with which the service may be provided using the available resources, this is the professional activity of engineers, scientists, and technicians, not businessmen. Beyond even this consideration, it is common for privately owned utilities to spin off aspects of their infrastructure for tax deductions, consequently bringing into existence a condominium of parasitical rent-seekers who can only ramp up costs on the utilities providers themselves, finally impacting the consumer. From both the perspective of consolidating control over the member states and the perspective of curtailing unproductive activities in the private sector, the nationalization of the commanding heights makes a fair deal of sense.

National Service

The revolt of the Traditionalists, in spite of their chosen name, is precisely because the Confederation has not enough in the form of rigid tradition to order the submission of the masses before the collective ethos. Perhaps part of the problem is that too much of the emphasis in the Imperial Senate vis-a-vis the operational parameters of the CDF focuses on misguided humanitarian efforts to curtail WMD deployment, and not enough on reconceiving the purpose of the CDF as an instrument whereby all the peoples of the Confederation member states can be instilled with an iron-clad military discipline to fortify the sense of greater Confederal camaraderie. I propose that a national service requirement should be implemented, such that all male citizens of every Confederation member state must spend a minimum of 10 years of continuous service in the CDF, from ages 15 to 25, during which time scientific, technical, and history education shall be provided for such purposes as would enhance simultaneously the martial and intellectual capabilities of each of our countrymen. Individuals with medical history which would complicate front-lines participation will be trained to their fullest capacity in another area of functional expertise, where their talents can be put to best use. This will help ascertain fidelity of all states within the Confederation to the unifying ideal of the ties which bind, and instill a reciprocal disdain for the enemies of the Confederation which ceaselessly plot against it from the feeders and the hall of the World Assembly. One myth shall enshrine the destiny of the entire Confederation and carry it into the future under a common faith: the triumph of the Confederation over the WA Elite and the triumph of nationalism and etatism over liberalism and egalitarianism.

Land Reform

Many of the member states of the Confederation possess arable lands where agriculture is practiced, whether on a for-profit or collectivized basis per the prevailing economic system of the state in question. It goes without saying that the Vocryae incident has laid many of these lands to waste, if not solely in the process of fighting then also in the extraction of manpower to wage the war against the Traditionalist faction, which means lower productivity and inferior crop yields, at least in those states with lesser numbers of workers in the agricultural sector or those with an inferior degree of advancement in the technical standards of modern industrialized farming. This neglect or desolation typically results in declining property values and favors the concentration of arable lands in the hands of the wealthy, and the termination of warfare often means the dissolution of the standing army and the return of able-bodied men to lands which are no longer theirs to reap the profits from. Instead, the farmer class is converted into tenants and sharecroppers, and land-owning oligarchs benefit. This issue is a recurring problem throughout history. Gaius Marius and Tiberius Gracchus struggled with it in the days of the Roman Republic, and so did Wang Anshi during the Song dynasty of Imperial China. My solution is two-fold. Firstly, the Confederation government should offer tax incentives to member states to contract land clearance companies to reclaim swamplands and marshlands within their boundaries and open these lands up to homesteading by small and medium-sized farming enterprises, with the land being held under a provisional non-for-profit condominium by contract with the member states until such time as the land can be parceled out. Secondly, a law ought to be executed empowering member states to seize 3/4 of unused (and therefore unproductive) arable lands within large agricultural estates, with nominal reimbursement of the owners, and transfer of these lands to the non-for-profit condominium for provisional management during the transition to homesteading. These policies should encourage the formation of a new and independent class of farmers, which should be recognized under a unitary trade corporation by the state to accomplish collective bargaining and professional interests' representation.

Punitive Measures

The Traditionalist states, due to being the aggressors in the Vocryae incident, and revolting against the supreme order formed by the Shadow Cult, must be subject to a separate arrangement from the beneficent reconstruction of the Loyalist states. I disagree vehemently with the policy of clemency and reconciliation which the Office of the Despot can elected to extend towards the Traditionalists, for as much as I respect Her Majesty the Despot's personage and position on the matter, which lean closer to the venerable imperial strategies of Cyrus the Great, Zendirist methods are more closely aligned with the logic of the Athenian lawmaker Draco in drafting effective means of deterrence and social engineering. In addition, there is the matter of costs which programs for dynamic state intervention invariably incur, and while I reject the advocates of austerity as absurd peddlers of fiscal-conservative mediocrity, an account of revenues and costs must always be taken, lest the Confederation fall beyond the event horizon of unrestrained deficit spending. The easiest and most readily rationalized source of revenues for Vocryae's coffers is to exploit the historical participants in the Traditionalist uprising and coerce them to pay financial reparations for their accursed crimes. Even better than this unimaginative measure might be to use the Traditionalist states as an experimental testing grounds for a radical new idea of military-agricultural organization. It would do for a certain acreage of suitable arable lands in the Traditionalist states to fall under the jurisdiction of CDF outposts, from where the CDF can be deployed at a moment's notice to exert presence and maintain order in major centers of these polities, while being in close immediate proximity to the source of their supply chains. This would assist the process of bringing the rebel states back under the heel of the central government, where they belong, while simultaneously sidestepping the possibility of supply bottleneck being caused by distant deployment from military bases in closer proximity to Jocospor. Even better, the resources and economies of the Traditionalist states will be exacted in order to supply the CDF to crush any subsequent rebellions by their own governments or peoples. These lands would not be entirely worked by the soldiers of the CDF themselves, but rather through compulsion of a certain percentage of the able-bodied population of the defeated Traditionalist member states to toil on these lands for nothing in return except for the guarantee of food, clothing, and shelter. It may also be advisable for a legal distinction to be imposed for the families of those who supported the Traditionalist faction, barring them from obtaining certain types of political office, employment, residency, property ownership, or military service. If this method is successful, it can be decided at a later date whether to be extended indefinitely, terminated in the interests of healing internal divisions, or some combination of the two influenced by disparate post-war trends of civil disobedience.

Presenting: The Bombardone Plan For Pan-National Post-War Prosperity!

HAIL THE CONFEDERATION!

Ridnez wrote:

Criticisms on the Right Honourable Gentleman's Plan for Pan-National Post-War Prosperity

By Senator Tailspin von Javehin, with advice and notes from Kancelar Autonomne Regije River Swirl

A due note before starting, this shouldn't be taken as a complete rejection of the Right Honourable Gentleman's plans, but rather what the MineLegoEquestrians and my friend, the right honourable lady, agrees are problematic ideas that underlay the sensible plans of the Right Honourable Gentleman. Notably of which is the insistence on the formation of a pan-confederation national identity via the consolidation of power and the suppression of national interests in favour of the wider Confederation's interests, that the Confederation all unite under the Shadow Cult for the reasons of duty rather than pragmatic cost-benefit analysis, and that the collapse of the West Heisenian state and its subsequent transformation and forging of a new national identity is the result of the infiltration of liberalism into the Confederation. Policy-wise, objections are found in the propositions that constant government intervention within the economy is a must with the free market restrained to serve the benefit of the state, that state-controlled syndicates in which all labour is centralised is a must to prevent the exploitation of the people by plutocrats or Marxists, that the trans-Confederation market should be united under a greater state apparatus in order to serve the needs of the Confederation, that the vital utilities of modern economics should be nationalised under Vocryae, that mandatory decade-long conscription is to be mandated across the Confederation, and the exploitation of the defeated traditional nations for the benefit of the greater Confederation.

Whenever one wishes to attack an argument or an idea, one must first dissect it. The ideas forwarded by the Right Honourable Gentleman is quite clearly based upon his doctrine of Zendirism. Which states that the point of life is to serve the greater nation-state, a life of a man is to serve the state because the state is the one able to channel and organize the disparate groups of individuals into achieving something great. That through a collective effort a collective good and safety can be achieved. If one has read Hobbes, one would recognize this line of thinking. Zendirism is quite clearly standing upon the thoughts of Thomas Hobbes, and that the point of the state is to ensure that life isn't left to the chaos of Waare but in safety in which people can do what they want to contribute to society under the protection of the leviathan state. However, order within itself is no grantor for universal common good within a state. A state with an efficient bureaucracy and strong institutions can use that bureaucracy and institutions to exploit its people, starve them, or put them on lists to be deported into death camps. Power, in itself, is not an inherent good, neither is being a state an inherent good. Let alone the grantors of social and economic greatness. A society of laws is worth only as much as its laws are worth. And these laws proposed by the Right Honourable Gentleman would provide little prosperity and economic success to all citizens, rather only certain groups of citizens would enjoy such prosperity as everyone else suffers.

Now, upon the first topic, the reason behind the communist takeover in West Heisen. The thesis laid out by the Right Honourable Gentleman states that the infiltration of liberalism into the Confederation caused this. The problem with this thesis, however, is that liberal states have been shown able to exist and still prosper. The ancient states of Majapahit, the various Chinese and Kirinese dynasties, the modern Japanese state, and many more. This shows that prosperity and liberalism are not mutually exclusive. If so, what could be the possible reason that such a revolution could occur? A look into the West Heisenian history is thus required. In its history, once where the rich earned about fifty times on average than the poorest, a measly sixteen thousand marks was all that a poor man could earn in such a nation. The old West Heisenian state provided little prosperity nor success for their people, and thus this anger of disparity as the upper classes enjoyed opulence and wealth led to them willing to accept foreign ideas. Foreign ideas only ever get accepted if those accepting it are in a state of trouble, and the lower classes organized them according to the doctrine of communism due to such duress. The result was the overthrowing of the West Heisenian state, and the creation of the communist state. Thus, from here it could be argued that liberalism and communism didn't infiltrate the Confederation, rather those in the Confederation let it in as they saw their current system as unhelpful, and thus were misled by the lies of communism because they saw no better alternative. Thus, if an ideology wishes to maintain supremacy, it should be able to carry out the promises it called for. The autocratic states of the Confederation, if they are to win against foreign ideas, must be better than said ideas. If not, it'd be more reason for their own people to accept the lies of communism or worse, for they see their current system as corrupt and useless.

The second topic, is regarding the Right Honourable Gentleman's Plan for a Pan-Confederation National Unity. This requires the process typical known as "National Integration", in which groups of people recognise that they are one, and in this case, one as the Confederation. What is to be criticised here is not the concept of a pan-Confederation identity, rather the basis he proposes to form such an identity on. The idea is that all within the Confederation are one because they are all under the Shadow Cult since traditional methods of national integration through the means of culture, language, and history are impossible in the Confederation's case. National Integration requires the people of said nation to have something in common. Which often the not, merely boils down to "we share the same ruling style", and even then the autocratic structures of the various nations of the Confederation vary wildly. Some are corporate states, some are monarchies, some have limited freedoms, others have total freedom but their leader yet still a dictator. This is not an optimal reason to unite the Confederation. There is a reason why the Confederation's a Confederation, and this is so. This Confederation never had the intention to unite into a pan-national identity, with earlier documents and histories, notably the one written by A.F.S Villerdom states that the Confederation was founded by the Jocosphites' "nation's desire to spread [its] influence and teachings". Effectively speaking, the Confederation is an organisation aimed at creating alliances between various dictatorial states for the benefit of each other. But over time the organisation has indeed evolved into a more feudalistic organisation. With nations swearing fealty to the nation of Jocospor, rather than to the concept of a United and Equal Confederation. Like the medieval ages, nations act like fiefdoms swearing upon a king to work together and protect each other. This is the main appeal of the Confederation, protection and opportunity for cooperation. In order for it to evolve into a proper nation-state, it requires a united culture, united identity. National integration is a complex process to ferment and primarily happens through educational channels. And involves political, economic, social, cultural and psychological dimensions. But often than not, national integration is based upon uniformity of culture or ideals or uniformity of goals and interests. And it seems near impossible to unite the Confederation based on ideals of a common culture, language, or customs. And the Right Honourable Gentleman realises this and however doesn't uses the second option. Rather insisting on the Central Government to crush the individual interests of the nations. Preventing the fermentation of the second form of nationalism based on the same interests. Why unite under a government that wouldn't care for you? Why unite, when you know your rights would be taken away with ease? Why unite, when your people would be sidelined for being undesirables? And such is the fear of the peoples and government of the Confederation that they oppose such a proposal by the Right Honourable Gentleman's plans. In a previous interaction, the Right Honourable Gentleman has stated that "...the Confederation is surrounded by a multitude of enemies, ranging from the Azure Watester Federation which was recently discovered to be in conspiracy with a former member of the Imperial Council, but most importantly the feederite hordes who control the World Assembly and use it as their bludgeon against our collective self-determinacy. Alone, individuals and groups are nothing; only the state confers volition upon the will of society. The Confederation is indeed rightfully conceived as a national entity unto itself and not merely a loose alliance.". From here, one could draw the conclusion that according to the Right Honourable Gentleman, that the reason the Confederation is a legitimate national identity, is because it exists in opposition to the existing world order and thus is justified. But how is opposition justified? If we use such surface-level arguments, the opposition to national unity thus justifies the existence of provincial, local, regional, and maybe individual identities.

He claims too, in the following sentences that "devotion towards the Shadow Cult and His Supreme Majesty, the Shadow Emperor of Jocospor, is what holds the Confederation together, not a strategic consideration of cost-benefit analysis. This constitutes a cultural institution in itself and provides a basis for the closer and more systematic coordination of the Confederation member states to realizing our common ends: an end to feederite and WA supremacy and the final triumph of the Shadow Cult to dominate the entire world.". But... does it? The Medici crisis has shown that in political channels, governments are more than willing to abandon the Shadow Cult the moment they threaten allies and friends. The Right Honourable Gentleman must face the facts here, the nations of the Confederation do not necessarily need the Shadow Cult. And the Shadow Cult does not necessarily need the nations of the Confederation. The only reason they partake in such an organisation is that no nations have created an alternative to the Confederation1. The Jocosphite State of the Confederation does not exist regardless of the nation-states, but because the nation-states want to work with the Jocosphites as they see them as a natural leader in this harsh world. And such, the Jocosphites play their role as the leader of such an organisation well. Engaging in politics so all could prosper together, simply by doing so they have created the requirements for an integration of the Confederation into a proper nation-state. But to assume that they have this right simply because, is foolish. The Jocosphites do not have an inherent right to be the leaders of the Confederation, they earned it through their leaders. Through their own choice, they sought to do this, and through the choices of others did they join them in building the Confederation because they see something they can help and prosper alongside them. But the Right Honourable Gentleman doesn't see this, but merely the devotion of the Jocosphite followers and not the element of choice behind it. The moment the nations see something they don't like , they may choose to detangle themselves from the mess of connections they now see as useless and detrimental to their well being. This means the underlying reason why a nation is willing to join the Confederation's cultural sphere is because of a cost-benefit analysis. Some may fully commit to such a cultural sphere, some may only partly. This element of choice is what allows the possibility of a Confederation Pan-National Unity in the first place. If the Confederation is to remove the element of choice through forceful subjugation, then that possibility disappears and is to be replaced by the individual nationalistic identities of the nation-states that make up, said Confederation.

With all the ideological criticisms out of the way, now onto the more technical policy criticisms. The first one is regarding the proposed plan to have the government to intervene in the free market in order to guide the corporations in order to prioritize the interests of the Confederation. This will play into each government's minds as they run the cost-benefit analysis again in their heads. Why should they? Why should the people and government of the Confederation permit this to occur if there are no present benefits to do so? This, in effect, removes the ability to commence in the freedom of commerce from the commoner and into the hands of the state apparatus which exists, with a degree of certainty, with the plague known as corruption. And even if the Right Honourable Gentleman claims that this would put the plutocrats out of business, it is not certain. Sure, the traditional plutocrats would be gone, but the new plutocrats - or worse, kleptocrats - would be given a buffet by using the state apparatus for their own individual interest or class interest, and as the state, they can use its apparatus to simply prevent the formation of competing businesses to their corrupt syndicates. Vindicating the Marxists even more so and possibly allowing the rise of more West Heisen like revolutions, forming a cascade of communist revolutions. To focus on the bigger picture is to not see the smaller pictures. How can a government explain to its people that they need to cut down on food consumption so that they may serve the Confederation more if the Confederation does not give benefits to them? This would simply give rise to more nationalistic sentiments and wipe away most goodwill to cooperate with the greater Confederation.

And now I must ask, is the Right Honourable Gentleman a business owner? A CEO? A shareholder? Do you know how to run a business? What is required to keep them running? The Laise Faire arguments to the free market are often than not based upon these questions and twisted by illiterate parasites that the government is incompetent. Rather, it is statistically unlikely for the government to be versed in the sacrifices of the businessmen to the building of their industries. This approach is similar to the absurdity posited by the communists, that those who work hard to establish their own businesses should have their work stolen away. Why does an autocratic state exist in the first place may I ask? To serve the people effectively, and how does this exactly serve them? The state should retain the ability to tax them, but to constantly tax them is to not allow the people the freedom to plan in ways that the government can't. Like how a Lieutenant on the ground knows something the general doesn't, and vice versa, total control from above will end in problems unforeseen by those above, and total control from the masses will end in complex and byzantine systems that can't be guided. What is proposed by the Right Honourable Gentleman will lead to the former.

The Right Honourable Gentleman also writes, "it is vital that the entire Confederation economy is integrated into a singular, central framework, in order so that targeted policies of intervention can be consolidated into a unified program for action. Ad hoc interventions staged on a disorganic basis are simply insufficient to engineering preconditions of industrial harmony and justice.". To do so is to remove one of the key components of transnational unity. Which is the freedom to cooperate however they want. To rob, the various nations of these freedoms is to trigger resentment which may lead to a move to finally leave the Confederation, which they see as non-beneficiary if such actions were to occur. May it be reminded of the reasons why they joined, and that is the possibility of cooperation. The Right Honourable Gentleman even writes, "The model which the Confederation government ought to pursue with the awesome power concentrated in its apparatus is a system that will subjugate private industries to the state ... ". The subjugation of the private industries to a state not even close to a people, may trigger resentment within them and this may cascade into a wave of protests that eventually results in revolution and succession from the Confederation. The Confederation needs to be more integrated if that is to occur, and the Right Honourable Gentleman has in fact provided a solution to that. Transnational Infrastructure projects, and that is something that no doubt everyone would approve of. Who wouldn't want the growth of their economics? From this, an organic fermentation of unity can be achieved rather than the methods suggested by the Right Honourable Gentleman, if such goals wished to be pursued.

Another topic that should be discussed, is the Right Honourable Gentleman's proposed decade long conscription of all able bodied men aged 15 to 25 into the military. Such, is a bad idea. Mainly one, they are the economic producing citizens of the various countries and could result in massive economic downturn. Two, language barriers. How are the MineLegoEquestrians going to coordinate with the Zalklandians when their languages are nothing alike? Three, the sheer expense that such a project would require. Roughly estimating, there would be 462,474,607,153 new recruits to the CDF which would absolutely cripple the CDF's budget, as that is 43.3% of the Confederation's population. If the CDF arming them is going to have problems, you don't need to know about the other proposed plans the Right Honourable Gentleman has. This isn't a question of ideology, but common sense! This, will undoubtedly bring the Confederation to ruin. And with it, any idea of a united Confederation.

And finally, the nationalization of the vital utilities of the national economics under the Confederation Government. This requires an immense measure of trust, trust that the central government does not has in full honesty. Nations joined to all work together and contribute to the Confederation, not have their utilities seized. This would damage the perception of the Central Government to the nations of the Confederation, and ferment distrust in it. With such a move, nations wouldn't care that they don't have basic utilities to function and instead launch a war of national liberation to liberate itself from an overarching and oppressive government that has yet to provide for them, something beneficial. Such methods being employed and more in the defeated traditionalist nations would simply vindicate the spectre of Karl Veers. Such a spectre will haunt the Confederation if such policies are to be implemented, and many nations of the Confederation would have to face down such a spectre. For ideas, are very hard to kill. And if these measures are implemented, it is quite clear, that the West Heisenians are not viewed as traitors, but people who foresaw this happening. Historical revisionism is one hell of a drug, and it would happen if these disastrouous policies are implemented.

This is not to say the Right Honourable Gentleman's plans are all wrong, his emphasis on the Health and Safety of all the people of the Confederation are something to admire and back. This would indeed help breed a sense of unity among Confederation nations, but it is just a single step on a long path of national integration. National Integration is a honourable goal, but if the steps taken to achieve it are wrong, then it shall never happen within the Confederation.

Now, I would like to thank Kancelar Autonomne Regije River Swirl for her input in this document. Without her help I doubt this be as well presented and coherent as it is. And I sincerely hope that the Right Honourable Gentleman does not see this as an insult, but rather as constructive criticisms to his proposed plans.

Sincerely,

Senator-Prince-Consort Tailspin XXIII von Javehin

[OOC]
Hey everyone,

Some of you may have noticed that I haven’t really been around for a month or so. Recent changes in my life have forced me to take a step back from regional affairs, and NS as a whole. I’ve had a lot of fun in the CCD, particularly in the Senate, and I’ll try to drop in from time to time to see how things are going. But for a while, perhaps permanently, I won’t be participating in much, if anything at all. I’d just like to thank you all for making the region what it is, a fun, friendly place full of life, jokes, engaging political intrigue, and of course, good people. I hope the rest of NS realizes that as well, eventually.

Hail the Confederation!

Indeed, good sir! As you just joined, there are some things you should know: Totalitarianism isn't only tolerated, it is encouraged. Speak in long, complicated posts. We have a very good sense of roleplay in here. It is good to join the WA. (I would be a member myself, but I am banned). Do not spam or troll other players. Finally, end all your posts in exactly the same way.

DAULMARK INVADES EAST GLUKOWZ!

After a short lived invasion of socialist West Glukřwz by Unificationalists from the East, Daulmark has responded with a violent declaration of war, aiming to subjugate and unify the two warring sides into one socialist state. The East Glukřwz army has being losing ground with heavy losses to the larger and inherently superior Daulmarkian force. It is estimated Daulmark will reach the Eastern capital within two days, and from there the Unificationalist cause will be utterly and humiliatingly crushed.

Feuraxia has reinforced it's border with the rogue Eastern Glukřwz, however no intentions to cross the Leasath-Glukřwz border have been publicized.

Complete and utter freedom

We have noted that the exact rank and power of General Samantha Starlenn, appointed by this body to the position of senator of the Imperial Senate, has been uncertain for some time. Therefore, the following decrees have been issued:
-Samantha Starlenn is hereby retired from active military service but retains the rank of general.
-Samantha Starlenn is appointed to the civilian rank of People's Representative, the rank traditionally held by representatives of Complete and utter freedom.
-A detachment of Kempetai officers will be attached to Samantha Starlenn for her safety.

All the world under one roof.

Space.

Ever since the dawn of mankind, the human race has been fascinated by the realm of deep space. The realm beyond our own planet. Yet not until the last half-century were we able to reach the cosmos. Now, the potential for things past men and women could only dream of could now potentially become a reality.

While Cape Canavral has planted the flag of the nation on the Moon back in 1966, no fully established base had ever been created. A plan had been in the works for such a mission for years, and thanks to a generous budget boost from the government, the CCNSA (Cape Canavral National Space Agency) has finally completed tests. The mission is believed to have upwards of a 90% success rate if all goes according to plan.

The brave men and women selected for this incredible mission include: Robert Capiton, the commander of the HIMS Enterprise, Abigail Aviena, the pilot of the shuttle, Oliver Heinsohn, the Flight Engineer, Julia Patiens, the Mission Specialist, and Hugo Heinsohn, a scientific coordinator. More are expected to be shuttled to the base regularly, and the crew is expected to be rotated once every 6 months to a year. A regular stream of supplies, food, and water will be transported via unmanned shuttles.

The following dialog follows the crew of the Enterprise during the mission to the Moon. Dialog begins just 5 minutes before launch.

MC: Falcon Crew, this is Mission Control, checking in. Everything looking good in there?

R: Yup, all systems are looking good in here, and with how much check-overs you all have done, no problems are likely to be had. Got to say, I've been looking forward to this.

A: Calm down, space cowboy. We're not taking off just yet, we still have a few minutes before launch. Just do one last system check, we can't miss anything, since after this we're going to be gone for the next 6 months. Can't afford to have to go back to Earth after just a day or two into the mission due to some malfunction.

H: Well, I believe we have all of our cargo at this point, now it's just a matter of waiting for this to happen. We're making history today, let's try not to die on the way there, yeah?

O: Don't got to tell me twice, Hugo. Man! I'm scared and excited for this.

J: Pretty sure we all have that same feeling. Besides Rob, I suppose, he's been on missions to the CNSS (Caper National Space Station) a few times now, so he has the most experience here out of all of us.

J: Well, let's not worry about how many flight hours we all have in and actually focus on what's going on.

MC: Falcon Crew, Mission Control, T-Minus 1 Minute to Launch, please commence final checks if you haven't already.

R: You got it, boss-man.

H: Can't believe it. First space mission. I've always wanted to do this since I was a kid, can't believe I'm finally doing this.

R: Yeah, I feel like most of the people working as astronauts share that same sentiment. Well, I believe we have everything set up and ready to go. Abigail, everything under control?

A: Hah, I see what you did there. But yeah, everything's pretty solid over here.

MC: Falcon Crew, take-off will happen in around 15 seconds, prepare yourselves for a long ride. I'm sure you all know that there will be a brief communications black-out when you all get into space, so be ready for that.

R: Got it, MC. Talk to you guys shortly.

MC: Roger, good luck.

Over the intercom, the countdown decreasing its number, the crew buckling themselves in for the journey ahead. The engines roared to life as the countdown neared it's end. As the number over the intercom hit zero, The noise of the engine was practically deafening as the rocket increased in speed, the astronauts inside slammed against their seats as the rocket screamed through the atmosphere. After what felt like hours, but was really only under 10 minutes, a silence fell over the rocketship as the first stage engines detached.

The journey to the Moon begins now.

Sometimes, when problems can't be solved, fire tends to be the solution. Whenever there's a monster, abomination, or just a tough position to break through. Fire, would do.

The MineLegoEquestrians would adapt use of the flamethrower after the inventions of Legotians and Mineans in their wars against the Kirins. Using their own weapon against them, to great use. The MineLegoEquestrians would soon find the flamethrowers and Kirins useful. Breakthroughs and fire were a great combination. Primal instinct told you to run from fire, and Kirins who naturally had an affinity with fire, running at you spraying flame at you, was a morale breaker. But those were years ago. Millenia, and Flammenshockjiun had soon fallen out of military use. But paramilitary and anti-terrorism problems, still had use for such flammable weapons.

Cults, though criminal gangs, or monsters, could all be dispatched using fire. The 'Two Private Protection Services ' had a division exclusive for flamethrowers, with a magical empire came magical problems, that could often be solved with enough fire. What is a god to a force of nature? What is a shield to inferno? What is meat to flame? Simply, fuel. Chaotic, uncontrollable, yet used in controlled burns and situations requiring order. Fire is contradictory in its nature and use.

With a nozzle in his levitation grip, the Director took a step forward. The smell of fire and flesh blocked out by the gas mask he was wearing, he still wore his trademark trenchcoat, long since enchanted by unicorns to be fireproof. It was a comforting piece of clothing, something as old him. It showed it age in some unravelling sections, but it was still show-worthy as ever. The edges played with the fire by his boots, the sloshing of the fuel on his back was only a single instrument in the chaotic orchestera of the area.

There was a scream here, a yell there. And always accompanied by the rich crescendo of the flamethrowers and burning houses. The orange flames illuminated his vision, he saw a cultist run, he trained his nozzle on him. He swore he could hear a cry of mercy before being drowned under the all cleansing power of the fire. Harmony knew no cultists, and as a follower of harmony, he knew no cultists. A fanatical devotion, worthy of the Kaisar's sons, which he was officially. He had to set an example to properly solidify his position. It had been a millennia since the Kaisar offered him a chance to restart his life to try again in spreading Harmony, and since then many have known him for the brutal methods he did to enforce harmony. But he always thought himself as never enough, how was he supposed to repay a life debt other than a life's service? The Kaisar might have had asked him to not worship him, but it was something he found hard not to do. Only a god can appreciate such a degenerate like him.

"Preventus! Preventus where in hell are you?!" Came a shout, in the old tongue of Equestrian-2, which for 4th wall breaking purposes, was just regular English. The Director turned to the sigh of commotion, to see a regular stallion, with black fur and a blacker mane. How such a stallion could come out of the gene pool still confused him. The stallion wore a grab of bland green, though the stark black kepi on his head indicated his station. A Lieutanent Colonel. He recognised the face however.

Zugzwang.

His face scrunched up underneath the mask as he walked over to the stallion, in between the burning wrecks of the village.

"What do you want, Zugzwang?" The Director shouted as he used a hoof to take off his mask. The smell of carange filled his nostrils and he didn't flinch, too used to it. Zugzwang turned to him, and held back a sneer of his own.

"I need some of your troops Preventus," Zugzwang had bags under eyes, a lack of sleep maybe. His eyes showed some level of acceptance of defeat.

"Why so?" The Director asked, turning off the nozzle of the flamethrower. Zugzwang sighed.

"Your troops are some of the best, I need some of them to form my unit to protect my nephew," He said, and the Director responded with a curt nod. "Some Flammenshockjiun would do good as deterannce and protection."

"So you finally admit my boys are great?" The Director held back a chuckle, and tilted his head at Zugzwang who sighed. He seemed deflated, and it was enough for Director.

"Yes, yes, I wouldn't come here if your troops were subpar," Zugzwang gave a glare and a full sneer. It was almost a whinny too.

"I'll give you a hoofful of my troops, you better protect my Faustdamn Nephew well, Zugzwang."

"He's my nephew too,"

The Director rolled his eyes, "I'm older than you, I have right of way. I'll give you my best troops you need after we finish this extermination, understood?"

"Understood, Preventus." He sneered, before walking off. Director laughed to himself as he placed back his gas mask. Turning around to the burning village, nozzle switched back open and prepared to unleash the hot fire of Harmony once more.
