Its designed that way on purpose. One of the Abydos Wisdoms is to "Keep things for a time in Suspense".

I've always held to this ideology that all forms of electoral challenges serve to better the region as a whole. There is no greater motivator than the specter of an electoral challenge and all politicians benefit from not falling into a trap of complacency.

I agree with this idea. If we allow ourselves to fall into the idea that our rule is unchangeable we stop being agents of change. Life is about change. If nothing ever changes then it becomes stagnant, lifeless, and dull. But if you always think the next time around somebody may try to replace you you're forced to work to prove you belong.

This I feel gives life to the region and a motivator to prove yourself so you can rise. Old and new nations alike can if they try to become the next agents of change and guide the region to a better tomorrow.

OOC: How will you stop puppet nations from voting given that the poll is open to all residents, not just WA nations (which would stop double voting)? Obviously this would also limit the number of nations that can vote overall. Bit of a conundrum really. Over in the CCD we only allow WA nations to vote to avoid this but with less members I suppose it would be more difficult.

Sorry if I interrupted something, by I saw the election and was intrigued.

Only Viziers have a vote in conclave elections. Basically, no matter who votes, only like 6 votes count, which can be picked from the rest. When it comes to general elections, only citizen's votes count. Viziers aren't required to be in WA as far as I know, so there is no point in making it WA only.

Citizenship requires you to be in the WA (or in rare occasion, to make your WA nation known). So when general elections happen, only the votes of the citizens count. a full citizenship list is linked above.

Other than that, purposefully cheating an election typically results in your ejection. Still, most everyone has been honest,And the few who havent usually get found out pretty quick.

The voting is only seven people. Right now we stand at a 3-3 tie so whoever hasn't voted will be the one who picks the winner. Hell they don't even need to vote for Ablem they need only not vote for me and he'll win. The one that has everybody (141 nations) vote is on the 5th. This one that happens on the 20th has but seven nations in all and most of them have already voted so unless they move their votes at some point nothing much should happen.

Ok so I just jumped back on and saw the poll at 5-5 so I looked and Interesting silence still hasn't voted so we should still be in a tie. So for a second, I thought he may have cast his vote and sealed the deal.

Bruhhhhhhh lol

So, who takes over the roleplay guild vizier if Orbisburg wins?

Lasvegastan wrote:So, who takes over the roleplay guild vizier if Orbisburg wins?

Hmm, I guess it could be whoever in the guild who calls it first. A poll could also be used that only members can vote in. Whatever works best I guess I haven't picked anybody should I win.

Interesting Silence has cast his vote, it is now 4-3.

Conclave election update
Ablem gets 4th vote to claim majority vote over Orbisburg
No official victory has been declared but based on what we know Ablem looks to keep his Grand Luxarch position after what was the closest election in Abydos history.

Congratulations, Ablem

Ok, so I guess that answers that. I will be the roleplay leader. So the same old thing. I may try again at some point but it will be a while down the road. This is three losses and I'm not really keen on making it four lol. Besides with how real-life matters have pulled me aside this may in fact be for the best.

Good job with another win over me Ablem I may try to take your office in two or so months so you best be ready if I do. But until then I'll try to keep the roleplay growing.

You still came really close though, earlier the election was at a point where Ablem was already telegraming me that he will join my guild when he was losing 3-0 earlier lol.

Lasvegastan wrote:So, who takes over the roleplay guild vizier if Orbisburg wins?

Triggers an Interim election. So 24 hours from the time of vacancy a new election will begin with whoever said they wanted it. If only one person asks for it they get it by default. We had one of these already when Ablem won.

Lasvegastan wrote:You still came really close though, earlier the election was at a point where Ablem was already telegraming me that he will join my guild when he was losing 3-0 earlier lol.

Oh, well he has that path open to him whenever he moves on or is replaced I guess. It sucks I lost but I feel that this is for the best. My mother has been having medical problems and I have been forced away from the game due to this. So my time in the game has been lowed a fair bit. Had I won I would've done what I could but with what seems like a loss I'll have the time needed to see what is the matter with that.

Also just in case, I may not try again for a while for the Grand Luxarch office. I'll vote for whoever I feel is best next month but past that I haven't made up my mind on my plans. If the roleplay is in a good place I may jump to something else. Right now I'm thinking of joining History Guild around late May but we'll see how it is when we get to it.

Thank you for your congratulations, I look forward to working with you to advance Abydos.

And as always, thank you for being a respectful opponent Orbisburg. I know the roleplay guild will continue to thrive with your leadership.

Congratulations on your win, Grand Luxarch Ablem. It was a nail biter.

The poll is still up for about four more hours so it could flip. However, I agree it seems he has won as I don't see any reason to flip their votes to me. As such, I look forward to whatever he does in the next month.

With that said to the newer nations that have joined if you having made up your minds the roleplay guild is always open to new members. Just let me know so I can add you to the list. I'm going to try to get 18 members by the 20th of May.

Lastly, if you wish to partake in the roleplay itself here is a map app you can use https://mapchart.net/world.html#.
