Political turmoil continues to rock Adrinian City as the President rescinded his support for Parliament bill 3 23, also known as the “Military Advancement Bill”. President Enseñador has stated that the vagueness of the bill will lead to an unnecessary hindering of the military, as well as jeopardizing relationships with foreign allies. On the other hand, Parliament has stated that the veto represents a selfish preservation of power on the part of the president, and that authority over the military should be shifted to “the people’s house”.

Demonstrations both opposing and supporting the president’s decision have cropped up across the nation, though those in support remain small and sparsely distributed. Many other political voices have lent their opinions to the matter, with Freedom Party leader Diego Sandalio railing against the president’s changing stance and his “willingness to bend to foreign influence”. Many of Enseñador’s own Republican party have remained silent on the matter. It is speculated that the President’s recent blunders coupled with the party’s already slim majority in the governing coalition have paralyzed the party in indecision. Further troubles may be on the horizon for Adrinian’s leading party, as recent polls show that while the majority of Adriños still lean left, many voters have begun to shift towards the Socialist and Conservationist parties as an alternative to the stagnant party of Enseñador.

As for the future of the bill, the president has stated that he will approve a future iteration if the “unnecessary and vague” portions are removed. Due to the fact that the original vote did not attain the two-thirds majority necessary to override a presidential veto, it seems likely that some changes will be made before the bill is implemented.
