With that they piece together that their orders are to try and work their way around back to the group. They begin their trek through the city in all its chaos. They have to be very careful as they are two soldiers without any backup in a city on fire. Enemies could lurk around every corner and many streets are blocked by obstacles and debris making the city an even worse maze then it already is.

They make their way through the city streets and alleyways sticking close to storefronts and doorways for cover as they do. In some cases they have to walk through whole buildings because of roads being blocked. The journey is long as they must be cautious so that they can stay alive yet part of Reed and Eckhart screams for them to throw caution to the wind and run out in the open because it would be faster to get back to their brothers in arms. But their training tells them to suppress this urge.

IC: Unexpected Rescue

While Reed and Eckhart make their way through the city streets which are eerily empty in most instances they hear the sound of vehicles rapidly approaching and so they quickly rush for cover and rightfully so as the vehicles quickly turn down the street Reed and Eckhart are on and stop with several Muan soldiers hopping out who begin to patrol the area.

Reed and Eckhart are crouched, huddled in the entryway of a storefront just down the street from the patrolling Muan soldiers. Knowing that they are going to need a better hiding spot before the Muan soldiers get too close and see them Reed and Eckhart begin to slowly creep back through the door of the store when suddenly a bell hanging in front of the door rings as they open the door. The ringing of the bell alerts the Muan soldiers who rush down the street and begin openning fire. Reed and Eckhart, their cover blown, dive into the store where they take cover behind the low wall below the large display window. The display window shatters from the gunfire of the Muan soldiers who spray the front of the store with bullets. Reed and Eckhart shoot back at the Muans but they are outmanned, outgunned, and pinned down.

The two of them radio for help but there is some kind of interference. The firefight rages on as the Muans fire at the storefront but Reed and Eckhart are effective enough on their own to keep the Muans from storming the building. However every few minutes the Muans slowly move forward each time Reed or Eckhart has to reload the Muans inch closer waiting for the opportunity to overwhelm the two of them. The situation seems hopeless for the two soldiers of the Hyperborean Foreign Legion.

Three of the Muan soldiers stand out in the street in front of the store just dumping mags of ammo into the storefront and Reed and Eckhart feel desperation slowly creeping up on them when suddenly they can barely hear through the gunfire something approaching off in the distance getting closer and louder.

Then suddenly a small, subcompact car drifts around the corner at the far end of the street from the same direction the Muans came from. Tires screeching, the small, heavily dented car, rockets down the street with its radio blasting.

The subcompact speeds down the road slamming into the three Muan soldiers standing out in the street shooting into the storefront before stopping abruptly in front of the store. The passengerside door of the tiny car flies open and the horn starts blaring when suddenly Reed and Eckhart hear a voice yelling, calling for them.

"GET IN LOSERS! WE'RE GETTIN OUTTA HERE!"

The voice is vaguely familiar to Reed and Eckhart who blindly follow its instruction hopping over the low wall through the now non-existent display window before running across the sidewalk onto the street and diving into the small car. After their dive into the car the tires squeal as it pulls away from the scene before Reed and Eckhart even have a chance to close the doors.

The surviving Muans are busy helping their wounded trying to get back in their vehicle to pursue but they are just too slow. However they radio out the direction the fleeing Hyperboreans were seen going.

"Boy am I glad to see you guys. I've been driving around lost in this town all day looking for some friendly faces." The driver remarks.

Reed and Eckhart get themselves properly seated in the car, well as best they can wearing power armor in a subcompact, and try and get a good look at their rescuer. Looking over their driver and rescuer they know this person is Hyperborean as they wear standard issue power armor like their own but this person's armor is dented and dinged and covered in scratches, blast marks, scorch marks, and signs of bullet impacts among other things. It's some of the most worn power armor they've seen in their short careers and what's even more surprising is just how fresh all this wear and tear appears to be. As the Hedran and Volohkian look over their savior the computer built into their power armor quickly identifies just who this person is... The name pops up and flashes onto the heads up display of their helmet visor... It's none other than Kaiser Thor Odinson...
