Apologies for the short Roleplay, my longer Roleplay got deleted and I'm in the process of rewriting it, here's something shorter for now, I'm aware it's not too realistic and views expressed in the Roleplay do not reflect my personal views.

'Pride flags nothing but red' in LGBT massacre | Ethiopian Truth

6/4/21

Yesterday, on the 3rd of April at approximately 9:30 PM, an illegal night club in the more quiet parts of the Kolfe Keranio district in Addis Ababa, notorious among the underground LGBT for being a safe place for them was raided by an anti LGBT religious group leading to the deaths of 6 people and 10 others being injured, sparking controversy around human rights, equality and safety in Ethiopia.

The timeline of events are difficult, especially since it is still an active investigation, however we have managed to form a coherent enough timeline to be used at the current time,

The earliest this timeline goes currently is at 9:20 PM, just 10 minutes before the massacre, a local resident and eyewitness saw, 'What appeared to be a small group of purely men in all black clothing walking together in an orderly and covert fashion, whilst a few were at most middle aged, most of them seemed to be in their very early twenties, or even younger.'

At around 9:30 PM when the perpetrators entered the night club a member of the club who was a survivor of the massacre who has remained anonymous said that she had saw,

'Several men in black uniform with various short ranged weapons, they had given no time to react as they immediately began attacking members whilst proclaiming their hatred towards us for "sinning", I made my way out by the back entrance though I saw several injured along the way.'

This is supported by a blurry video taken by another anonymous member showing brief footage of the group and their weapons, which police are using to attempt to identify some members of the group.

However by 9:55 PM, when the overwhelmed local police force arrived along with ambulance the group had already dispersed and some victims were in a critical state.

Whilst the public are shocked of the incident, religious and political figures have mixed reactions, 'His Holiness' Abune Mathias, patriach of the Ethiopian Tewahedo Orthodox church, came out with a public statement yesterday at 9:30 AM and said,

'Exactly 12 hours ago those who falsely enacted in God's following and killed multiple civilians, though we do not yet currently know the members of this tragedy, we know that God certainly knows, and those who did such unspeakable acts shall certainly taste God's objective and omnipotent judgement. Though, we must not let this distract the evils of homosexuality, and other names the devil himself holds so dearly, though these people are human, they have been misled dangerously onto a path of sinning, and we must not let such imported ideas be allowed in our holy society. Thank you for your time and may God grant his kingdom another day. '

Despite some human rights activists and critics denouncing his response to the situation, others have gone further, such as the Ethiopian Muslim imam, radio host and TV preventer Adil Zahid, often known simply by his followers as 'Mr Habibi', as at 10AM yesterday Zahid offered his radical thoughts on his popular radio station with tens of thousands of listeners,

'I must take this massacre as an opportunity for me to point out what is really happening, that homosexuality is beginning to plant its roots in your kids minds, and in Ethiopia as a whole. Sure, the massacre was terrible, but can we not see the obvious thing happening here? The Zionists are attempting to import homosexuality into our pure society. Now some of you may be skeptical and I understand, however Allah has warned us of these worshipers of the devil and their tricks, and I also have some thought provoking questions for you. Why is it that during this time Israel is pushing for gay 'rights' more than ever? Why is it that their leader, Bibi, is just the shortened name of degenerative disease I will not say in fear of summoning the devil twice? Thirdly, why is it that the night club suspiciously went under the radar for so long despite its size? I will answer this question for you, Israel had being using 5G technology to make the night club invisible to the naked eye. And finally, why was it that that 16 people either died or were injured, which is also the age of consent in Israel? I believe my case is done here.'

Prime minister Abiy Ahmed also issued a public statement saying,

'Whilst homosexuality is illegal under federal law, the massacre against Ethiopian civilians is a national disgrace and justice will be served as local and national authorities continue to try and identify members of the offending group.'

Despite a growing progressive climate in general thanks to Abiy Ahmed's reforms homosexuality and any other members of the LGBT community are not only illegal but also heavily shunned upon in society, as people actively being against the community hovers around 95% of Ethiopia, and any attempt to move for legal or social change has been met with heavy political, religious and public resistance.
