As Wub said, all militaries keep a constant watch, especially when under threat of potential attack. During times of war especially, there will be little to no difference in response time between an attack at 4:00 AM and an attack at 4:00 PM. It might help somewhat for a surprise attack at the start of a battle, but in the living mg run it will rarely, if ever, make a difference, as Nordokarelia's own example of the attack on Russia proves.
