Hopefully this time SB gives me Portugal 😁😁😁

Regarding Mjau's proposal on Secret Ballot (as it currently stands).

My personal recommendation to MPs: Vote Against

I agree, we need restrictions on individual responses during the election period, as this could influence voting. However, this current proposal will mean they never become published to the average voter.

We have always published the responses in full after the election, I think this is important as it helps to show if there have been any procedural errors or corruption because voters can see clearly if their vote was cast properly.

During my facilitation of the last four elections I've never had a request from a single resident asking their vote not to be shared. I think we should be able to share the votes afterwards.

See below my proposed change, which I will bring to the next voting session.

"In order to ensure privacy and fairness during the election voting period, individual responses will be available only to the Governor and any officers deemed appropriate by regional law."

Love to see a process flow, however not sure how we can add that to the regional constitution

NUCL's recommendation destroys the purpose of the bill, which is to safeguard your votes from those who may criticize you for voting a certain way and to prevent peer pressure or harassment from interfering with everyone's right to vote for who they please.

If someone was being harrassed because of who they vote for that would be against the code of conduct, In addition, freedom of speech and assembly are fundamental rights of the constitution.

If people feel like they don't want their vote to be publicly avaliable feel free to vote for the bill, however I personally have no issue with my vote being public. A system where these aren't avaliable post-election would be more susceptible to corruption. In the order of transparency I personally think it's important they are published.

If you don't want names to be published you should vote for Mjau's amendment. However, I am recommending against as I feel there's no reason the responses cannot be published in full as per my message above

I would vote against. But hypothetically, you would need to remove the right to freedom of speech, or add this as a rule to the Code of Conduct

I also believe that should be the case, so vote for the Secret Ballot Amendment 👍
