Well, consider this your latest official like, for the both of you.

How harsh on Yodle :P

A Minister of RP would require experience in the said field of RP, ability to compromise on and conclude grievances, would have to have significant patience, and would also need decent knowledge in the field. I don’t think any of that is particularly controversial to say.

Call me crazy, but I reckon Yodle has the ability to sniff out someone who ticks all of those boxes. If they cannot find someone immediately, I am also sure they are perfectly capable at asking the community on their thoughts. Being a member of an RP doesn’t immediately make you omniscient in the realm of who would be a good fit, nor does not being a member mean you are completely oblivious to whether someone has the capabilities required for community management and moderation. I set up and ran RPs in my old region of Violetia, but I have chosen instead to pursue a personal worldbuilding project and focus on regionbuilding instead. Because I no longer actively participate, does that mean I am completely incapable of telling if someone has patience, grace, and experience?

Removing RP administration from a regional government is a preventative measure to stop any government from threatening the RP system and exploiting the fact that the Minister of Culture can be chosen at the PM’s discretion. As I have said previously, I am not saying that every PM who is elected is drooling at the mouth at the thought of metagaming, but it can and does happen, so it’s best to nip that in the bud.

This is true, but his unique flavour (and a taste of it) usually comes at a price. Isn't that right Brocky?

Hi guys

Members of Parliament,

It's time to announce our next Voting Session! This one's important to me, as it'll be my last VS as Speaker, so I'm excited to say that it's another big one. We've got nine bills up for a vote this time, and there's going to be a debate soon on the Discord. I'll ask The Kaverian, head of the Rules Committee, to update the RMB as often as he can with details about the debate. Failing that, I'll make sure you're all informed about the positions people have on certain bills, and of course I recommend that you all debate here as well!

That said, here's the list:

It's a big one, but I'm honored to say we've very rarely had a small Voting Session during my term as Speaker. Thanks for keeping it interesting, everyone! I'll plan to open the vote on Monday, and we can get things started!

Have a nice weekend everyone,

America the Greater,
Speaker of Parliament

I still don’t understand the point of a minister of RP besides “uncorrupt” which doesn’t make sense because the rp isn’t apart of this region we have to worry about that for the most part (besides godmodding)
How is the choosing of a person to keep the RP rules in check and help manage rp going to be biased?
You do know that Yodle, while glorious, isn’t except to biases either?

This wouldn’t help end corruption and stuff, it just makes a useless position in our government that just does the job another, previously existing position, does

You’re just trying to separate RP and government

Government doesn’t get in the way of upholding law in the rp and the other way around

The only case I could think of is a government member not doing something for a citizen because they don’t like them in the rp
And in that case we might as well prevent all cabinet members from participating in rp

As chair of the rules committee, it is time to begin our regularly scheduled (lol) informal debate session. This debate will be for 2 days before the voting session starts. I’m posting this on the RMB as well so non-discord MPs can see it! Input from you would also be appreciated (obviously lol)! I will do my best to update you guys on the debate.

I appreciate your comments and consider it great that we are having this discussion. However, I fear that you misunderstand the overall objective of having an RP administrator outside of the government Cabinet.

It may be fair to say that it might not produce any immediate, tangible benefit, however as mentioned several times now it is both a preventative measure and also a matter or principle. In my experience, RPs with the best consistency and well-organised moderation are those which are not hindered by a constantly shifting head of management. A MoC may decide to commit to one project to stir up activity, or one set of guidelines, and a succeeding Minister may choose to reverse that.

Again, I’m not accusing every incoming Cabinet of being desperate to command the meta of an RP, but it is a matter of principle to separate the two so there is no chance of anything happening. Whilst it may seem unlikely to you, that doesn’t mean it will never happen.

As for your point about RP quote “[not] being a part of this region we have to worry about for the most part”, I feel as though that is a fallacy of circular reasoning (i.e, RP isn’t a major issue, so nothing is brought up, so RP isn’t a major issue, and so on). Just because something isn’t that big of a deal, doesn’t mean it should be treated any less seriously than any other regional issue.

Syrasia wrote:I EATED all the water

Considering I'm MoC and most likely should be participating in this conversation, I'd like to just say, It's a neat idea and I like the concept of it, but similar to Lemona, I don't think we really need it, but I will admit the chance of, as you said, "A MoC may decide to commit to one project to stir up activity, or one set of guidelines, and a succeeding Minister may choose to reverse that." is a strong point, but yet again, unlikely

then again, I'm also probably far too tired to participate in this conversation so, who knows?

So far we’ve only really discussed two bills: my amendment to the Code of Conduct and GC’s anthem. Notes about my bill are that consent to use other’s works may be unnecessary, and that the Code of Conduct doesn’t need to be extraneous. On the other hand, defamation and consent to use works may be important to people, and the bill now only adds 2 rules (abuse of power was removed for not being relevant to other CoC rules, and will be separately covered later, probably during the first voting session after the election). About GC’s anthem, while it is a really good anthem and obviously had a lot of work put into it (and anthems are also fun to have), some people in the debate thought lyrics should be crowd-sourced instead of written by one person, and statements have been made that anthems are “nationalistic”.

Im writing a book

The main think that happened while we were under downtime was BAYERN BEATING ARSENAL ARSENALS FULL OF REJECTS HOWD YOU LOSE TO THE TEAM THAT GOT CRAPPED ON BY LEVERKUSEN HAHAHAHA

and making a movie script

We have talked about my Amendment to Article I as well. Some believe 30 days is the minimum needed to join if they don’t have discord (they want people on discord because it is where most government acts). On the other hand, people can be driven away by this requirement to other regions that would allow them to be active faster (this almost happened to myself, even). Some people may not either be allowed to join discord, or have had bad experiences on discord.

There were rats living in it.

Are you totally sure they were living? I mean a lot of our population comes from inadequate and inefficient rodent traps, or poisons that just don't work on rats like they used to...

Cockroaches are a bigger problem where I live. And also mosquitoes.

Why does nothing happen for an hour after I post something?

Happens (happen is such a weird word lol)

United States Of Alpha wrote:Cockroaches are a bigger problem where I live. And also mosquitoes.

Tell me you live in Washington, D.C. without telling me you live in Washington, D.C. Since you're talking about scurrying insects and bloodsuckers, I'm thinking you reside in the Senate building?

United States Of Alpha wrote:Why does nothing happen for an hour after I post something?

Because we're in awe of the brilliance of your posts, of course. We need time to recover. And if you could remember to pass out sunglasses first, that would also be appreciated.

Debate has cooled down for now, but I’d like to say a reminder that any MP who isn’t on discord can also provide input if they want

Chess later peeps :)

could an RP mod teach Pyhdon how to RP again

cause he ain't workin'

I am not a member of Parliament, but if I may express my opinion as a citizen, I say that I think it is important to include consent to use other people's works in the Code of Conduct.
It would be nice if more people could participate in the anthem. The GC one is good, although it sounds a bit "commercial"

I don’t think the region needs an anthem

The people saying anthems are too nationalistic are funny to me, but I still don’t think we need one

Also who’s GC
