This region is a region.

Concordat wrote:What is meant by "The Embassy Record"? You say it will link to the master dispatch? So I take it "record," in this context, simply refers to something of a database or directory? I may be mistaken, but I suspect many will assume it is either a list of all of the embassies with relevant information, or else some sort of count / record-holder that relates to the number.

Here my English fails me a little but at the same time I'm happy with it being vague. Feel free to improve the exact wording later.

I was trying to refer to the original statement in the WFE

"We are the record holder for the largest number of embassies. On 25th May 2020, we had 4,755 embassies open, more than one for every five of NationStates' 23,771 regions."
That info should be in the master dispatch somewhere (which I honestly haven't yet read word by word). Probably under History. Maybe the record-breaking number doesn't necessarily need an own section in the master dispatch (and no direct link from the WFE) but it should be highlighted somewhere, IMHO. Ya, I think it shouldn't occupy half of the WFE but it generally it is a nice feature of the region.

Concordat wrote:

I think your changes to the WFE info text are very good. The de-emphasis on embassy counts, in favor of interregional connection, I think creates a much more welcoming/embracing character.

Yes, that was my aim. To be clear, I personally just wouldn't drop the embassy count aspect/efforts completely, as it is part of the very identity of this region (and for a couple of more reasons partially mentioned before). I'd just be a little more discreet about it. The rest, like not being "spammy", is up to our embassy (requesting) policies (which we could continue to refine) and the actual effort people want to put in. It would be great to have more community building efforts than embassy clickers involved here.

Suggestions for alternate wording:

-----
Connecting multitudes of / myriad regions, (if the "thousands" part is what you were worried "sounded ambitious)

we strive to be the heart of interregional community on NationStates. (de-emphasizing "largest" and a quantifiable "aim," though retaining that same idea in perhaps a more palatable way, as simply being "the heart of interregional community)

Small regions are especially welcome to enrich and drive the project (all small regions are UCRs, I think, so can probably lose that bit, especially as new folks who create a small, personal region may be unfamiliar with the acronym or the term, in general)
-----

I like those small details. Will integrate some of it now, and will later grant appearance authority to everyone.

(Btw, not worried about "thousands" of embassies being the ambitious part. But I like "myriad")

Concordat, UCR (user created region) is an acronym that came up in the SC thread of the liberation (maybe Eshialand mentioned it there). It took me a while to figure out what it means. But somehow I feel "the struggling of small UCRs" is exactly what regions like the The Embassy (and other "embassy collectors") help to compensate and using the term makes clear that we are aware of these issues and try to address them actively with this project.
But yeah, sound not very elegant in the current version.

Looks good A Goblinoid Merchant. All of your changes appear in order. Good work.

You're probably right about enough people knowing "UCR" that it's fine to use. And the ideological associations do make it appropriate.

Do you have any other ideas for "community building," as you say? One time I created a dispatch that a handful of regions wound up pinning to their WFEs. I always thought that was kind of a classy move, and also a good way to help someone spread word. Perhaps there could be some method of "Dispatch Featuring," whereby we cycle through our top-pinned dispatch from among our embassy partners? Obviously, some degree of content checking and judgment would be required, and if there turns out to be too many requests, some degree of discretion. Just an idea.

Treciene wrote:This region is a region.

PSG is Qatar.

TFW you get pinged on one nation in your other nation's region.

Yes, it was me who mentioned that acronym. Actually, fun fact, it isn't technically an acronym. Acronyms can be pronounced (think NASA or NATO), and if you just say the letters, that's an initialism.
