I'm not opposed to what the so-called redditors are doing or trying to do. Hedge funds and private equity are destructive elements and anything that makes them lose money makes me happy.

I'm just cautioning against an overly romanticized view of this. The individual investors are going to get burned because they always do.

If you bought GameStop at $6 per share and it's now trading at $480, I'd sell now, pocket my $474 profit and be happy. You will have made a killing, the hedge funds will have lost money and you should take your money and use it to live and fight another day. If you want to hold on to your shares a little longer, by all means do so . . . but be ready to sell when the time comes.

Ultimately, the music is going to stop when there isn't new money coming in to push up the stock price higher than it already is. This will inevitably happen eventually, because the current share price is way more than a zombie company like GameStop is worth. If you are a buyer at today's price, just think how much more the share price would have to increase for you to make money.

- - - Spring of 1998, Paris, Michellae - - -

Spring, 1998, Paris, Michellae. A married Mathornian couple walks down the street. The air is cool, the weather fair. The couple walk down the Champs-Élysées - the man, who must have been around 30, perhaps 35 years old, was wearing a smart tuxedo. The mans wife was wearing a pretty scarlet dress, and was holding a purse as the couple sat down at a top-end restaurant. To anyone else, the two looked like an average well-to-do couple on holiday in Michellae. But the couple was in Paris on strictly business matters.

After ordering some fine wine and some bread for a starter, the couple chatted as they waited for their hosts. A few minutes later, their host arrives. A young lady, dressed in a smart, yet casual, fine black dress sat down opposite the couple. "It's good to see you both again, tell me have you both had a pleasant stay in the city of light?"

"Indeed, it's been a most pleasant experience, if indeed we have only been able to enjoy this experience for a mere few days."

"That is good to hear. Mind if I have some bread?"

"Of course", the man said as he gestured to the bread basket.

As the lady in the black dress reached over and grabbed a slice of bread and began buttering it, the man's wife spoke; "It's so nice to be here with you, Chloe. To what do we owe the please of you having extended your invitation?"

"Oh, I wouldn't worry - The pleasure is all mine. As you know our families have been friends for generations". The women glanced at her watch. "As you know, I am waiting for one last person".

"Ah yes, your partner?"

"Indeed - did Adam tell you? We're going to be getting married?"

The women in the scarlet dress looked at her husband, before patting him on the head and giggling cheekily. "No, he must have forgotten - however we both extend our warmest congratulations".

The man, normally reserved, spoke up "It's not my fault, Senators have tons of different subjects on their plate at once - but congrats!"

Then Adam felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up and burst into a smile; "Senator Wood! It's good to see you again." The two senators shared a warm embrace. "Senator Carver - it's good to see you again too!".

Senator Lewis Wood, a first term Conservative senator sat down opposite Adam Carver, a first term senator himself and future Vice-President of Mathorn. Over that meal in Paris, an unbreakable bond of friendship was formed between two couples of opposing political viewpoints. Little did the two men know at the time, but their paths would cross again, and again, in the near future and in the distant future.

Both men's paths were intertwined and interconnected. One such winding path was to determine the destiny of The United Provinces of Mathorn. In the 2024 Presidential election, two political titans would face of with each other. President Sam White's political wingman, Vice-President Adam Carver, would face of with four term senator and leader of the Conservative Party - Lewis Wood. In a nail biting election, set against a backdrop of partisan rancour and political division, the two men's close bond would be tested by an election campaign that threatened to split the country exactly in half.

- - - 11th February 2021 - Polaris - - -

It was a freezing day in Polaris. It had snowed lightly overnight. The stillness of the city was evident as Senator Lucas Griffin, from the Liberal party, strolled into a coffee shop and ordered a Latte. As the barrister began to make the Senator's order, and the coffee machine began to hum loudly, Griffin's phone rang, catching him off guard and causing the senator to nearly drop his paperwork that he had been clutching. As he fumbled around trying to find his phone, he nearly dropped his folder again when he saw who was calling. **** he thought as he answered the call.

"Mr. President! What do I owe the honour?".

"The honour is all mine, senator. I'll cut straight to the chase, as I am extremely busy today."

"No worries, Mr. White".

"I saw that you have been skeptical of our recently published Defence Funding bill - may I ask how come?".

"Indeed, sir. Listen, I agree overwhelmingly with the measures in the bill. Allocating more funds to cater to our troop's mental health and to shore up our veteran's pensions are all more than welcome - and I believe welcome on all sides of the isle. However, I have to take issue with the funding, or lack thereof, for an upgrade to the militaries infrastructure. Sir, to put it bluntly: You talk about an infrastructure revolution, yet this cannot be limited to our roads and bridges. Our military installations are in a sorry state and in dire need of repairs and upgrades".

Griffin thanked the waited who handed him his latte, as he strolled over and sat down at the rear of the coffee shop. President White then re-initiated conversation after Griffin had finally sat down - much to the President's irate.

"Senator, I understand your concerns, but I promise you that I will address them in the infrastructure bill, which as you know is currently being drafted by the Secretary of Transport. I promise you that I will ensure that Secretary Lewis [The Secretary of Transport] co-ordinates with you on the matter - as you seem unlikely to forget this issue in a hurry".

"Okay, Mr. President. You have my vote."

Both men chuckled and exchanged pleasantries as the phone call ended. Lucas Griffin then proceeded to send a text message to one of his staffers, sat back and began reading a newspaper that was left by the previous occupant of the coffee shop's table, with the headline: "Funding For the Military to Expire in 1 Week as Congress remains Deadlocked". Well, Griffin thought to himself; Not anymore.

President White had promised a political favour to Senator Griffin, who duly voted for the Defence Funding Bill (2021), ensuring it passed through the Senate by a margin of 51-49. The Bill had already passed the house earlier in the week and was duly signed into law by President White a few days later. Mr. Griffin wouldn't forget the President's promise. Not ever. The President was a man of his word, so when he broke that promise later on in the month, by excluding Senator Griffin's demands from the infrastructure bill, Griffin was privately enraged, yet publicly put on a brave face.

In the Spring of 2021, Griffin would exact his revenge - only in a way that no one expected. He would not forget, and he would never forgive.

Senator Lewis Wood was sat on his sofa at his home, located on the outskirts of Polaris. It was the first weekend off that the Conservative Leader had taken for a while. His wife of 21 years, Chloe strolled in, followed closely by two young children, who leaped on top of him screaming Dad!!. Mr. Wood preceded to embrace his two young children, Phoebe and Lester. After a good minute or so of being swamped by his kids, he stood up and embraced his wife; "It's good to see you again, dear".

The Wood family were planning on travelling up to Scotland for a week's camping holiday. Senator Wood hadn't spent quality time with his family for a while, and he needed a break from the politically charged climate in Polaris. He had gotten home late yesterday, and to his satisfaction Chole had already gotten the kids all packed, and had prepared their car for the 6.5 hour drive north.

An hour later, their family's silver sedan car pulled out of the Wood's driveway. Their house wasn't huge, it was nestled in a middle-class suburban estate in the Polaris borough of Barnet. The Wood family lived a fairly humble, yet decidedly comfortable lifestyle. The car began the process of weaving it's way out of Polaris' traffic-filled streets. Eventually Lewis Wood drive up an on ramp for a Motorway (much like an interstate highway). Once he had safely joined the traffic flow on the motorway, he checked behind him into the back of the car and saw that the two kids were already fast asleep. Wood activated the cruise control function, and he looked over at Chloe, who just smiled warmly back. With that he settled in for the long drive up north.

Lewis Wood would indeed enjoy his week off in the Scottish highlands with his family. However, as Polaris grew more distant in the rear view mirror, a political storm was gathering pace that would engulf not just the presidency, but the cabinet, along with various members of the Congress. Mr. Wood would not be implicated in the scandal, however, it had the potential to grant the new Conservative leader a huge amount of political capital, and more importantly, a huge amount of public trust.

But for now Mr. Wood sat back and relaxed in the driver's chair of his car, and watched as the world passed him by.
