Now I'm just a bit worried that one or two of the regions Eadrias and/or The Valley of The Wind would burst and release their squeaky nations to the NationsStates world all at once.

Hey, hello, what's up in your regions?

Edit:

haha, we have a welcome telegram. I didn't know that. Thanks Unindicted coconspirator

Which movie is it?

Captain lard wrote:I run 101-200 nations but I bet you I can name them ALL

But a lot of them are CTE’d

Are they all very lardy? Which is your oldest alive nation?

Vando0sa wrote:They are both jump points. Eadrias is a much better one though.. might can rent it out to raiders..

How can one jump point be better than another?

Eadrias updates a minute or so after The Valley of the Wind. could help get one or two more tag raids in.

Not that I understand how that exactly helps the raids, but ...
Ah, I see, update times!.. I never understood how they are determined. Do the newer regions update first? I suppose it is more complex or unknown?

Talking of raiding: one of our first embassy regions A1 storage was abandoned by its founder Vasalos and then snapped by some fascist raiders. But why? And, how much do you care Vasalos?

At least two further embassy regions also disappear already. That was fast.

Anorchic

All region update in the same order twice a day. Tag raiders ride the update to raidsqueak at as many as they can! Usually raider are sleepy now days and might raid like 5 regions..

A made a very random collection of statements that I recently witnessed and find remarkable for one or the other reason, loosely related to the theme of our region.

This will probably not help much to understand why we spend so much time with NationStates .. but it is partially about defining what this game and its nations, regions, embassies represent for us.

Thanks but this part I understand, while I don't understand why the update time of the jump point matters. But don't bother to explain. And my real question would be:

Vando0sa wrote:Eadrias updates a minute or so after The Valley of the Wind.

Why so? What are the basic determinants for a region updating earlier or later than another one?

Haha, seems you are right:

Question: How does one create a Jump Region?

Answer: You mean like a jump region in the R/D sense? Found 200 and use the latest updating one.

I just sit and wait to refound one already seen as a late updater.. Like with Eadrias.. *-yoink-*

Usually I like to go around and say hello to all regions we recently constructed embassy with.

But

1) I don't wanna embarrass myself as in The Arcade anymore....

So please, can the following founder nations please lodge their own first RMB message:

Judro aar of Greater Cansilica.
Acaciatropole The Great Archipelago.
Battlefleet retaliation of Port Jericho.

And,
(2)
then there are the regions that don't allow embassy posting like Too much information land in
A Clot of Noisome Nations.

mhmm....'A Clot of Noisome Nations'...?

Maybe Nr 2 is okay then, and exchange via embassy remains tightly closed for certain regions..

Anorchic

Too much information land

A Clot of Noisome Nations

Molch wrote: then there are the regions that don't allow embassy posting like Too much information land in

That's the default setting, which a friendly telegram reminding me that I'd forgotten to switch it to allow posting would have solved.

Molch wrote:mhmm....'A Clot of Noisome Nations'...?

Unindicted coconspirator proposed constructing embassies between NationStatesHolics Anonymous and A Clot of Noisome Nations.

You contacted my region requesting an embassy, not the other way around. Pre-request is the better time to pass judgement, not after the thing is newly opened.

Noisome adjective \ noi·some \ ˈnȯi-səm

    1: noxious, harmful

    'a noisome pestilence'

2 a: offensive to the senses and especially to the sense of smell

    'noisome garbage'

2 b: highly obnoxious or objectionable

    'noisome habits'

Issue solved. So I welcome you here instead! Thanks for the embassy.

I meant it in a funny way in my previous post: who wants to exchange anything with 'A Glot of Noisome Nations', referring to the name of your region only. It wasn't very funny, I guess. Sorry.

I saw your region and others emerging from The Rejected Realms . What was the sister region again? The United Confederacy of Allied Alliances? It was a good laugh that day.

PS: Actually I didn't think you will keep all the regions for long(?)

Vando0sa wrote:I just sit and wait to refound one already seen as a late updater.. Like with Eadrias.. *-yoink-*

Ah, so the update time doesn't change with a refound, I didn't expect that.

I see. A solid theme. Luckily I hardly know any meme. :P
I only learned on NationStates what meme is. (Ya, I know.. I was raised in a swamp with very slow internet connection...)

Alethes sophia wrote:

The update time matters, because a ns can only update once per update period (which occurs twice a day). If you updated already during the update period, and you go to another region that updates later, you won't be counted while that region updates.

It's like... if you have a birthday and gained a year at 2pm PST in california, and then rode a rocket to new york by 149pm EST, you don't gain another year at 2pm EST. If you could do that, then you could technically be hundreds or even thousands of years old after a while, riding around in a rocket all over earth, chasing after your birthday every year in each timezone and gaining decades each birthday.

Ah, I think I understand now. That's why it is better when the jump point updates late. So that your nation(!) doesn't get updated already.

Thanks for dropping by and explaining!

Ah nope hahaha Green, blue ,purple are my colors hahah but since I already started with light bright colors I just made the decision to stick with it so there's sense of semblance hahah throughout my nations.

I don't think I can control more I can't imagine there are really some who can manage 100 or more! Just wow

It was too funny a name, so I thought I'd hang onto it for a while.

The others were funny as well, but I'll let someone else refound them, have their fun.

The poll is drawing to a close. Those in the largest group have between four and ten nations, which sounds eminently sensible. It is a fun to see how many nations a few people have. Why not!

If I ever worry about wasting my time on NationStates, this region has helped me realise that I also quite enjoy it. I was pleased as punch to find that my nation in Philosophy 115 is the second longest serving there after Dr George.

Where I am founder, there is pressure to entertain. Why is the message board so quiet? Think of a poll. Find a joke. Other people's regions are more relaxing.

In my experience Philosophy 115 is one of the regions with antipathy towards "embassy collectors." It may be difficult to establish relations with them.

Concerning having an active RMB, there is a happy medium between having a Founder who needs to constantly entertain the Region, and having a dead RMB. Neither is an ideal situation. I prefer to see a Region with an RMB driven by many posts from both different nations and various Regions.

Pictou and Anorchic

Some regions have size requirements and insist on a minimum number of WA members. Two of my regions have chosen only to exchange embassies with close friends. In another we swapped embassies with anybody who asked. The decision is always democratic - a way of getting people involved.

Aahrrg, thanks, but I'm very busy currently. Is it a space shuttle? Just install a nice bath tube in the back with a lot of bubbly foam and a cute rubber duck, and I'm in, silently dabbling in the back (for now).
