The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless, devout population of 25.52 billion Versais are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The enormous, corrupt, well-organized government is primarily concerned with Defense, with Education, Industry, and Healthcare also on the agenda, while Spirituality is ignored. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Oxsana. The income tax rate is 100%.

Versail's Medieval Faire is renowned as one of the best in the region, many friends and relatives of Commandant Drummond have been given ambassador jobs in tropical island nations, the Hanging Gardens account for half of Oxsana's water use, and criminals are thrown to the Brown Bears to repay their debt to society. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. Versail's national animal is the Brown Bear, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is Orthodox Christian.
