The Really Cool Autocracy of The Pigeon Cult is a massive, genial nation, ruled by Mo Feathers with an iron fist, and notable for its sprawling nuclear power plants, keen interest in outer space, and vat-grown people. The compassionate, cynical population of 3.675 billion pigeons are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The medium-sized, corrupt, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Education, Administration, and Defense. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Sapphire Roost. The average income tax rate is 87.7%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient pigeon economy, worth 595 trillion bread crumbs a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is fairly diversified, is led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Retail, and Book Publishing. Average income is an impressive 162,129 bread crumbs, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, many marriages go virtually unconsummated, vacationing pigeons expect to be treated as royalty, and rugby players that knock each other over always stop to make sure the other fellow is okay. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Pigeon Cult's national animal is the dog, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Western Pigeonism.

The Pigeon Cult is ranked 42,652nd in the world and 13th in One big Island for Most Subsidized Industry, scoring 4,456.11 on the Gilded Widget Scale.
