The Federation of Laoreet is a huge, socially progressive nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape, frequent executions, and irreverence towards religion. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 209 million Laoreetians are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The relatively small, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Administration. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 9.4%.

The powerhouse Laoreetian economy, worth 19.8 trillion Drels a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Book Publishing, Retail, and Arms Manufacturing. Average income is 94,513 Drels, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 286,267 per year while the poor average 24,274, a ratio of 11.8 to 1.

The government seizes private property for the 'good of the people', 9 out of 10 consumers think that vitamins can cure cancer, L-SPAN viewership drops as MPs act their age, and Laoreetian watches list strained wrists as a common side effect. Crime, especially youth-related, is a problem, probably because of the absence of a police force. Laoreet's national animal is the Sisserou, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.

Laoreet is ranked 248,429th in the world and 111th in Blue Ridge for Most Primitive, scoring -146.97 on the Scary Big Number Scale.
