I was going to start updating the RP time today but you kinda killed our WFE template.

Ethics committee of the scpf wrote:Despite the death they continue pushing on, Calvary does its job of cutting down rebels efficiently while infantry continue struggling for ground, during the fighting the general notices Houston in the crowd and tells all men near that continent to capture him making regrouping more difficult, the Mexicans also begin using cannons at close range that cut through the Texians like butter.

Meanwhile Urreas nearing Houston hears about the group from Louisiana and is made to send a de facto representative demanding they don’t send the militia or face the army, at the same time he sends a letter to DC asking the US government to control its states before turning his army towards the route from the border with Louisiana that leads to Houston. Along with that he sends out scout Calvary ahead in hopes of seeing them.

Sam Houston notices the carnage and he decides it is not worth attempting to win a victory today. He rounds up what little men he has left and breaks through the Mexican lines, although with heavy casualties. When all is said and done, only 300 men remain for the Texians. 750 were killed, and 150 captured or missing. Houston begins to flee east, heading dangerously close to the Louisiana border. Orders from the Louisiana state governor to stand down do not reach the volunteers, and they march until they are 10 miles from Houston's forces, where they set up camp. In DC, the debate on whether to help Texas flared up even more in the aftermath of San Jacinto. The Whigs are against helping Texas, whereas the Democratic-Republicans support the assistance of Texas as part of Manifest Destiny. Martin Van Buren, the Democratic-Republican president, seems particularly inclined to assist Texas.

OOC: Turns out Van Buren historically refused to admit Texas as a state, so idk if that change in perspective is allowed.

Right after Urreas arrives with his men he is enraged and reintegrates the two armies together, along with reinforcements from sea his force now numbers 3,000. He lets his men rest for a while before marching near where informants tell him the Louisianians are, as he goes east he sends out a small group of Calvary to tell the militia they are in Mexican land and fighting them will mean war, so they should instead of being here return. Back in San Felipe MFC finally gains full control of the city, he sends any remaining rebels up there demands to surrender if they don’t want to be swept away.

At the same time orders are sent throughout the nation that any generals with open men to march to Texas and to drill them vigorously along the way; the navy is also mobilized.

The Louisianans says that by volunteering, they now serve the Lone Star rather than the US government. They continue marching until they meet up with Houston's force, forming an army of around 2,300 men. Houston once again sets up camp and waits for the Mexicans to arrive, although he has constant shifts of sentries watching for enemy armies. James Austin, a representative of the Texians, arrives in DC and pleads to Congress to officially assist Texas. The Senate officially begins a vote on whether to assist the Texians.

The 3,000 strong force arrives at a early morning but does not make any moves, slowly everyday reinforcements trickle in and earthworks are built.

The Louisianans use the 8 cannons they brought to slowly bombard the Mexicans. In DC, after several days, the US Senate has voted 37-15 in favor of supporting Texas. The motion is then passed on to the House of Representatives. US Armies line the Mexican border in the event of a potential war.
