We should restructure the constitution. But I do agree that constitution shoud determine the government.

I allready stated my position and I do not believe in blindly following leaders, so I vote "other".
The documentary of Justice Clarence Thomas that came out earlier this year is now available for free until 6/1 on PBS. It was very interesting and I enjoyed hearing him talk about his life. If you're not interested in the whole thing, then at least listen to the hilarious 3 minutes where he talks about his impression of Biden during the hearings on his nomination (it's at 1:10-13 ish).

Hallo!
How so? What ideas do you have in mind?
I'll also vouch for the documentary. I saw it recently.
Hi. How are you?
Make better documentation requied with the most of the administration and documentation being on Nation States rather than our external forum.
I think that the size of the Senate could be changed with law but the constitution should first be modified to accommodate. Also, I find it a little amusing that I'm voting with the more liberal nations in RtL on this poll.

I'm honestly unsure, it would be nice to have a flexible senate, but stability is also welcome, especially when a citizens-assembly will already grant more power to non-senate nations. I'll abstain, I think either choice is a good one and I struggle to say which one is better than the other.

Book calling for Catholic blessing of homosexual couples was requested by Austrian bishops' conference
Speaking to an Austrian diocesan paper, Father Volgger asserted he would like to see an introduction of an official benediction for homosexual couples "as soon as possible", but conceded that "according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, homosexual acts are in no way to be condoned and homosexual people are called to chastity".
The 58-year-old priest added that "there has been movement on the subject," and asserted that a rewrite of the Catechism of the Catholic Church might be in order to facilitate “an official liturgy" that would be "based on Church doctrine."
As to why the Catholic Church would change her teachings on sexual morality, Father Volgger pointed to a shift in public perceptions, saying "the doctrine on homosexuality has been discussed throughout Europe in such a way that an opening up is not only debatable but can also be demanded."
The priest added, "there are also a considerable number of bishops who would like to see a rethinking of sexual morality for the evaluation of same-sex partnerships".
This is beyond scandalous, it's insidious, to say that Church teaching must be abandoned by none other than a priest, in the name of what, wokeness, progressiveness or just pure hedonism?!

So is your opinion that the Constitution should fix the voting system but leave the Senate's size to regular legislation?
I think the Citizens' Assembly should dictate the size of the Senate. The citizens should be able to decide how many senators they need.
Like Aawia, I'm on the fence. However, if I'm forced to choose, I think regular legislation should determine the Senate's size and its method of election.
The rationale for a constitutional determination was that the Senate should not be able to set its own size and its own method of election without the citizens' consent (through a constitutional referendum). If we're adding a Citizens' Assembly to the region's legislature, then that rationale disappears. The senators won't be setting their own parameters; the Congress as a whole (or the Citizens' Assembly) will be setting them.
But imagine the Citizen's Assembly pulling a Pete Buttigieg and trying to stack the Senate
That wouldn't make sense, as all senators are elected at the same time.
The election will commence in five days. I think the candidates (whoever they are) should present their views on the issues, and I think that they should do so through a debate. How should the debate be conducted?
All I'm saying is that the wording of this proposal should be explicitly stated in the constitution. Then the senate would have the legislative authority to change as needed. It's kind of a combination of both.
It could still make sense. I could see loads of ways the Citizen's Assembly would try to mess with the structure of the Senate for their own gain.
If the "general laws" option wins, I'd propose something like this:
1. Senatorial elections shall begin on the fifteenth day of the months of January, April, July, and October. There shall be seven days of nominations followed by three days of voting.
2. The Senate shall have one senator for every ten citizens (rounding down) but never, in any case, fewer than three senators. The size of the Senate shall be determined at the beginning of each senatorial election, and that size shall be fixed for the entire term of office.
3. Senatorial elections shall take place publicly on the regional forums. Subject to such reasonable restrictions that the laws may impose, all citizens shall have the right to vote.
4. In each senatorial election, cumulative voting shall be used. Every voter shall have a number of votes equal to the number of senators being elected, and he may cast his votes for a single candidate, or he may spread his votes among any combination of candidates. The candidates who receive the most votes shall become senators.
5. The President shall break any ties that might occur in a senatorial election.
1. Senatorial elections shall begin on the fifteenth day of the months of January, April, July, and October. There shall be seven days of nominations followed by three days of voting.
2. Senatorial elections shall take place publicly on the regional forums. Subject to such reasonable restrictions that the laws may impose, all citizens shall have the right to vote.
3. The number of senators and the method of their election shall be determined by law. However, no law altering the number of senators shall become effective until the senatorial election following the law's enactment.
4. The President shall break any ties that might occur in a senatorial election.
--
The "however" clause would prevent two hypothetical situations: (1) The Congress expands the Senate's membership in the middle of a term, thus giving the President the power to fill the "vacancies" (new seats). (2) The Congress diminishes the Senate's membership in the middle of a term, thus removing some number of disfavored senators from office (without formally impeaching them).
To what extent, if any, do you think the Constitution's Declaration of Principles and Rights would act as a limitation?
5. All laws and regulations made and enforced by the regional government shall be reasonable and shall promote the common good. The regional government shall not make or enforce retroactive legislation, secret legislation, or bills of attainder, nor shall it make or enforce partial or special legislation, which unjustly favors one citizen or one group of citizens to the disadvantage of other citizens.
I know I'm a bit late to this, but all glory to the Most High!!
