RNN - Prime Minister Sawangsri Makes Historic Visit to Romanovskaya

The Prime Minister's Office has publicly announced PM Sawangsri's historic visit to Romanovskaya amid political and economic turmoil in Europe. President Franco dos Santos has signed an executive order approving the privatization of several state-owned enterprises. The list of enterprises to be privatised iss contained in Schedule I.

"I made a campaign promise to privatize public enterprises so we may eliminate workplace inefficiencies, cut public debt, strengthen the capital markets, and modernise Brazil's economy," he said from the Palácio do Planalto. "I intend to keep my word."

Prime Minister Panikkar on visit to Jammu & Kashmir, Security Stepped up

Srinagar: Prime Minister V.K. Panikkar is on a visit to the Kashmir Valley as part of a celebratory event marking 10 years since Western or 'Azad' Kashmir's complete integration with India and a military operation that wiped out the last remnants of Kashmiri separatism and Jihadist terrorism in the valley. He also laid the foundation stones for two universities, one All India Institute for the Medical Sciences, and one India Institute of Management.

Speaking at the Lal Chowk in Srinagar, Prime Minister Vanikkar remarked, "Our government's constant efforts were what brought peace to the Kashmir Valley, and it is through our efforts that peace will be brought in Ladakh as well. Irrespective of what others might say, our stance on Ladakh, a rightful part of Jammu & Kashmir and thus of India remains firm.", most likely referring to the recent diplomatic spat between India and China over the issue. He was accompanied by the Maharaja of Jammu & Kashmir Gulab Singh II, as well as Chief of Defense Staff Lt. General Bipin Chauhan. Despite the end of the Insurgency however, security forces were still placed on high alert, with police and paramilitary checks at numerous locations in the city.

Since the start of the event, senior officers from diverse security agencies, including the Army, BSF, CRPF, CISF and state and central intelligence agencies have gathered in the state, as per a police spokesman. Department of Nuclear Engery to aid India in new deal

Following trade talks over the course of the last few days, a deal has been reached with India in regards to mobile nuclear power plants build on custom designed vessels. These floating power plants are capable of 20MWe and are designed around the old Liberty ship design from World War but with advanced systems and safety features in the hulls. So far, the locations for these floating reactors are as follows:

Gulf of Khambat, Gulf of Mannar, Gulf of Kutch, and off the coast of Vizag.

As these reactors are in the process of finishing work, they should arrive in at least 2 months as they are finisning up on the Eastern Seaboard.

President dos Santos: "deregulating market competition a priority for this administration"
Neoliberal reforms will eliminate the MCPC and 'thin down' the competition law

President Franco dos Santos has officially initiated reforms to deregulate the rules on market competition, shortly after meeting industry leaders at a trade show in Guarulhos.

"Deregulating market competition is a key priority for this administration," he said. "We are committed to free-market values, and find the notion of the state interfering with market behaviour idious."

These reforms, described as neoliberal in character, follow on the privatisation of 7 state-owned enterprises. They were first announced by a white paper, which laid several core arguments for deregulation:

• Interference by government agencies may deter investors, who are interested in extracting maximal rents, from investing in Brazilian enterprises;

• Competitors who are limited into the same space with no prospect of growing their market share may flood the market, thus generating waste and inefficiency;

• Rules against mergers may dampen Brazil's ability to develop large, economically viable firms that can withstand both domestic and international competition, given the size of Brazil's internal market and the pressures created by trade liberalization within the Global Security Association 2;

• Cartels can restructure inefficient industries and stimulate new ones in times of weakness, which is particularly relevant given Brazil has yet to recover from the 2014 economic crisis; and

• Cartels can stabilize prices of primary commodities such as vegetables, nuts, oils, animal proteins, and so on, of which Brazil is a major international producer of.

The most prominent change will be the dissolution of the Market and Consumer Protection Commission (MCPC), an antitrust enforcement body which replaced the Ministry of Justice's Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica (CADE).

A new competition statute has also been introduced to the Brazilian People's Congress (BPC), with the goal of replacing the pre-existing rules laid down in Law Nº 12,529 of 2011. The new statute is considerably 'thinned down' and skeletal compared to its predecessor, and simply forbids for the following:

• Predatory pricing, i.e: pricing goods a particular way to place competitors out of business

• Margin squeeze, i.e: pricing goods in a particular way to place customers out of business

• Exclusive dealing, i.e: requiring counterparties to deal solely with that busines

• Exclusive distribution, i.e: selling goods through an exclusive distributor

• Tying and bundling, i.e: restricting repairs to exclusive businesses

The new statute does not place any restriction on mergers or acquisitions, save for the foreign acquisition of firms operating in sensitive industries. Nor does it apply to state-owned enterprises, which are expected to retain a monopoly over certain services.

Huge reforms slated for DRDO to be enacted soon
