=-= TALKS OF ELECTORAL AND DEMOCRATIC REFORM WITHIN ADWILAUR =-=
Date: 20/02/2024

What's happening?

The Government of Adwilaur has recently been in talks about potential electoral and democratic reform within the country, this included talks within both the APA and the APAC. The issue was raised by many representatives within the APA, with concerns about the current unitary and unicameral system. The most popular suggestion so far has been to attempt a constitutional change, and make the switch to some sort of presidential system rather than a parliamentary one, allowing for a separation of powers.

What are the next steps?

The APA are set to hold a vote which will determine whether or not the country should pursue electoral and democratic reforms. If this vote passes with a majority, the APAC will begin working closely with members of the public and members of the government to design the specific reforms themselves, putting ideas onto paper. The APAC will also work closely with fellow member states of the European Council, to ensure that any changes made to the political system with Adwilaur will continue to uphold their democratic requirements. Finally, a referendum will be held within the country, allowing the public to vote on whether or not they want the changes.
