Response to the Trekan Invitation

The Imperial Palace has released the Emperor’s response to the Trekan invitation to the Halloween Summit. While His Imperial Majesty has thanked President Adebayo for the gesture and has expressed his agreement with the sentiment behind the meeting, he sadly cannot attend due to his preoccupation with attending Minachia’s annual celebrations of All Saints’ Day - the Empire’s parallel holiday to Halloween - on that day. However, the Emperor has offered to send his brother, Lord Tiberius, in his stead, to represent the Minachian nation at the summit.

All Saints’ Day Celebrations
On that note, Minachia is currently preparing for its annual celebrations of All Saints’ Day, a holiday which parallels Halloween but which is much more steeped in religion and solemnity. All Saints’ Eve (October 31), All Saints’ Day (November 1), and All Souls’ Day (November 2) mark a period of solemnity and mourning throughout the Empire, as Minachians commemorate the faithful departed, attending masses and holding feasts in their honor. Many common traditions for these holidays include cleaning and decorating relatives’ tombs, reading and acting out the lives of Christian martyrs, holding feasts and solemn processions, and giving gifts (mainly treats) to children. Recent times have seen the importation of foreign traditions such as costuming and trick-or-treating from nations such as Treka, but these practices remain limited mainly to more progressive urban and suburban areas, and recent cultural resurgence has led to these being shunned even in such areas.

The principal celebrations of the holiday will occur at basilicas in the largest cities, with thousands of worshippers being led in praying for and remembering the departed by Minachia’s leading bishops. The largest of these will occur in Aurelia, where the Imperial Family and numerous other prominent figures will join the Mass to be celebrated by His Holiness Pope Augustine.

The Peace in Herzoland Summit
Since the Herzolandish government announced its commitment to pursuing a multitude of political reforms which could prove to be crucial in alleviating the long-standing tensions between Treka and Herzoland, the potential for a peaceful resolution of the ongoing blockade of Herzoland has entered the realm of plausibility. Vaadekoenië, having positioned itself as a neutral party to the conflict, has agreed to play an impartial host to and stage for talks between the nations involved in the blockade, and the nations that have taken a sympathetic stance towards the Republic of Herzoland. Additionally, the Vaadekoenese government has stated that it will be footing the bill for the summit, with a total expenditure of 12 million TSD going towards the venue of the summit, the accommodation of the world leaders who are to be present at the summit, the security of said leaders and venue, and the facilitation of journalists which are also to be present.

The New Kingmakers in Tussenria
Voters have delivered a narrow mandate to the States General this Sunday to a broad coalition of largely centre-right parties, with the exception of the National Democrats (ND). This ultranationalist, populist, and allegedly Lagelander supremacist party has seemingly joined forces with the centre-right to oust the previously ruling centre-left Apple-Orange coalition.

Once mired in controversy, and strictly avoided as a coalition partner by parties across the entire political spectrum, the National Democrats have spent the past decade shifting away from the country's most extreme fringes and closer to the mainstream. Having won a little over 21 percent of the Tussenrian vote in this week's election, the National Democrats made a sudden leap from the position of the fourth-largest party, to an impressive second place, a situation once scoffed at by the mainstream media as implausible.

The rise of the National Democrats has also arrived alongside an escalation in ethnic tensions, with government campaigns to force the usage of Nederspraak over Prussatian as the language of instruction in schools nationwide having stoked chaos in recent months. This fact has not gone unnoticed, with many attributing the rise of the National Democrats to a sharp growth of Anti-Corusconian sentiment in the country.

However, political spectators still believe that there is a high chance they will be excluded from the formalities of governance, perhaps upstaged by a centrist coalition comprised of the Labour party and the Christian Democrats. Regardless, the National Democrats have secured a stronger position at the negotiating table than anyone could have expected, and will undoubtedly shake up Tussenria's politics in the years to come.

For decades prior and after the death of Comrade Brother Hao, the Republic, now Federation, of Quangsuh has been fixated with a paranoid obsession with territorial security and military strength. Evident in its budget, developments and scope the QPLA had been developed and modernized for centuries to even rival the great powers of Elparia. Today that ends.

In a speech addressing the State Tangshi, Peoples Court and general public of the federation, General Staff of the Armed Forces, Qi Dong and President Yi Sukegei announced that with the final arrival of Naval warships, submarines and aircraft carriers into Quangsui waters from overseas has marked the end of the Khada naval reforms, thus the final chapter in the QPLA modernization scheme. While pledging to "continue development to keep up with the world" Sukegei stated that "no new projects of this scale are planned for the future".

These announcements were followed up by what seems to be a change in doctrine, the federation taking a step back from its military affairs in the world, most notably reducing its patrols once again in the Quangsui Novavostok strait. It has also put out envoys to Treka, Trimainia, Hollefjord, Entaria and Essotori in an attempt to reconnect with the old alliances and the ties which were severed during "its modern political isolation".

(idk whats going on anymore, Berisnkys has been balkanised so I'm assuming tidal wave didnt happen or to a much lesser degree).

NEWS (for about the past month ish)

November 20th 2022- full Midterm Results are out
Treka’s heated midterms are over, and when inaugurated, will put Adebayo in a tough position.
Senate: 78 seats
(23) Libertarian Party (+1)
(20) Republican Party (+2)
(19) Democratic Party (-6)
(16) Independent (+3)

House of Representatives: 500 seats (also has 5 non voting delegates)
(145) Republican Party (+51)
(140) Libertarian Party (-42)
(101) Democratic Party (-46)
(99) Independent (+42)
(6) Revolutionary Party (-1)
(3) Democratic-Socialist Party (-3)
(2) Green Party (-1)
(1) Puritan Party (no change)
(1) Marcassetts Progressive (no change)
(0) Constitutionalist Party (-2)

The midterms saw massive republican gains, and massive democratic losses. Especially in the House. The Libertarians have gained control of the senate, but only by a little, and at the cost of the house, losing almost as bad as the democrats there. The shift reflects a reaction to Adebayo’s foreign policy. With republicans promising to challenge Adebayo’s aggressiveness and control. Democrats, the largest supporters of Adebayo lost big due to their support for the president. Curiously, the Libertarians lost the house big but won the senate. The Libertarians unclear position on Adebayo’s politics is likely to blame. Most 4th parties lost or did not change. The constitutionalist party lost all its 2 seats, both to Republicans. But most surprising of all, Adebayo’s despise of Political Parties still reigns true in Treka. With the Independents nearly doubling in power in the house, and gaining in the senate. This shows the loss of grip that political parties have on Trekan politics. With anti-party sentiment still high, and not completely attached to Adebayo like the republicans may have hoped.

December 5th 2022- Treka merges its defense pacts into the largest Military Alliance in its history
15 Nations gathered on Monday in Caaguazú, the largest city and capital of the East Calderian nation of Arawak. The goal? To create a Calderian Defense pact by merging Trekan military pacts together. The North Calderian Pact (NOCAP) is a defense treaty between Treka and its north Calderian partners, Coltega, Crotin, Iximas, Pericu, Ixtlan, Arawak, Zapotec, Pitandan, Kiatia, Tenoch and Copal. Treka also maintains the Bulwark Pact with Entaria. The Hauton Pact with Chuukango and the Steelridge Concord with Arells. A goal of these nations has been to unite Calderia into one large defense pact for continental defense against internal and external threats. The members of these 4 pacts finally signed an Agreement in Caaguazú on Monday making it official. The Calderian Collaborative Defense Treaty (CCDT) will be Treka’s largest military alliance ever. The pact will provide North Calderian Nations with security promises from major powers in the south. Something that reassures these nations in an unstable world, especially now with the likelihood of Konzakskan Military presence in Herzoland and the new elections in Ayutla and Miskito fortifying their Anti-Treka positions. It is considered Adebayo’s largest diplomatic decision since the abolishment of the Hampshire pact at the beginning of his term.
CCDT Members-
Treka, Chuukango, Entaria, Arells, Coltega, Crotin, Kiatia, Pitandan, Ixtlan, Arawak, Zapotec, Tenoch, Copal, Iximas, Pericu.

The Following Nations have been invited to apply:
Essotori, Olympia, Tussenria, Zeche, Sereine, Yacu, Shivacocha.

The birth of "The Eastern Entente"
As the global situation sours once again and the Union is worried about the recent developments in Osho as a result of recent events. PM Kumar Sawant and the Foreign Affairs Minister Darshana Kanitkar have recently kept in contact with the Songyong government and have such proposed a deal to strengthen the relations of the 2 Oshoan countries. The Establishment of a military pact called "The Eastern Entente", a military organization set on the military cooperation and advancement of member nations and the partnership with other nations and pacts to strengthen the Osho bloc. Other agreements include the ease of tariffs and exports regulations, cooperation for students of high level education and infrastructural development deals. For the signing of the deals Sonyongese PM Hirotaka and Foreign Affairs Minister Tanaka, alongside their envoys and relatives are invited, they can also stay longer to visit the palaces.

Moving Forward
Ayutla, Alongside Herzoland, Miskito, Corusconia and Shivacocha remain the last havens free from Trekan Influence on the Calderian Continent. Ayutla has traditionally been a Corusconian influenced country, however, Chief Tariácuri has moved Ayutla out of the Corusconian sphere as Corusconia has declined and the country has become more friendly with Treka. Ayutla has set its eyes in finding a new partner. But for now, independence.

Minister of Diplomacy discusses the Shivacocha-Ayutla Summit in Mictlāntecūtli
Shivacocha and Ayutla have a long history of war. The Ayutlans and Shivacochans have long fought over the island of Pátzcuaro. The islands resources such as gold and other rare earth materials becoming the main attraction today, but previously a battle over what is a sacred island to both nations. Currently the island is controlled by Shivacocha, but the population is majority Ayutlan. The Ayutlan government was pleased to see the newly formed Trekan CCDT did not include their neighbor Shivacocha. Ayutla’s minister of diplomacy and Shivacocha’s minister of foreign affairs met in Mictlāntecūtli on Thursday and Ayutla requested Shivacocha hold a referendum on Pátzcuaro for independence. And grant the citizens it if they want it. Shivacocha refused and their minister of foreign affairs stormed out. The incident is a sign of rapidly deteriorating relations between Ayutla and its neighbor. The Crotinese and Ixtlani governments both have offered mediation in the dispute but Ayutla refuses to let Trekan Allies mediate its disputes.

Ayutlan Military Detects Threat From Shivacocha
Ayutlan intelligence and satellite footage shows a mass military movement to Pátzcuaro. Ayutla believes this to be a show of force by Shivacocha on the disputed Island. Ayutla has called for international condemnation of the rise in tensions that Shivacocha has caused. Shivacochan news outlets have reportedly called the move a “self-defense move” that “ensures sovereignty over the island.” The move comes right after a fiery summit over the island’s future in which Ayutla’s call for a referendum caused the Shivacochan foreign affairs minister to storm out. Ayutla’s Chief has warned Shivacocha that any further escalation will result in a “strong Ayutlan response.” This is the highest escalation in tensions over the island since the 1976 Pátzcuaro war which saw Ayutla surrender control of the island. Nations such as Crotin and Ixtlan, as well as Miskito, Coltega and Arawak have called for immediate deescalation from both sides. Ayutla now looks for international support against Shivacochan threats.

Calderian Overtures

With Konzask's diplomatic victory in the Herzoland crisis, and the resulting formation of NOCAP within the Trekan Calderian Bloc, Konzask has decided to secure it's position in Calderia, as well as it's relationships to the new, reformed, Savinist Herzoland. Although a member of SVIZ, and hosting a small Konzaskan Red Army contingent as a temporary protection measure, Konzask has decided to officially offer Herzoland Safingrad Pact Membership. It shouldn't come to a surprise as anyone, as a new Savinist state in itself would be cause for Konzaskan interest, but one in Calderia is another story entirely. Although the move is also strategic. With the continents increased hostility towards Herzoland, and in light of the recent blockade, coupled with NOCAP's creation, it's becoming increasingly apparent that an extra level of protection for Herzoland is becoming mandatory. Although considering both Konzask and SVIZ investment, and aid in reconstruction, development, and improvement of rural infastructure, in an attempt to aid Herzolands economic modernization, the two have slowly been developing an ally like relationship as is already, many seeing this as simply a formalization of what already exists.

In other Calderian news, while initially stand offish from the continent, Konzask, due to it's presence in Herzoland, has decided to be more active in the continents politics, although this is likely more so a retaliation due to both Trekan and Entarian increased activity in Berinsky, then because of Herzoland. This comes in responding to Ayutla's push for international support, in the threat of it's neighbor. Konzask modeling it's foreign policy off of staunch anti imperialism (although, it seems more like an excuse it uses to involve itself in foreign matters), has official stated it's full diplomatic support for Ayutla, declaring Shivacocha's increased military presence is entirely unprecedented, and unjustifiable. Although, as actions speak louder then words, Konzaskan diplomats have decided to attempt to extend a level of cordiality with Ayutla. With both nations general anti Trekan positions, as well as the nations pro Herzolandish stance during the blockade, perhaps it was inevitable for Konzask to eventually try to reach out. Although, acknowledging, and keeping in mind it's hesitancy to work with foreign powers, Konzask has kept it's overtures short, and simple, only requesting expanded diplomatic relations, and negotiating the potential creation of a trading relationship, on Ayutlan terms. Konzask has not pushed further, and on the topic of military intervention, the KCP only commented that "Konzask will comply with international law if the situation were to escalate, and we will not seek to escalate an already tense situation".

2023 Spartikade - Preparations

The Spartikade, an annual football tournament between Konzask, it's ally's, as well as those who accept invitations to the event has seen a stark increase in popularity, scale and competitiveness in recent years. Likely due to Konzask's increased international influence and presence, the Spartikade has only continued to grow, although the 2023 Spartikade this march is set to be quite unique. With the recent expansion of Savinism into Herzoland, it's increased cordiality with Konzask and her allies, on top of Herzoland opening itself up further to the wider world as a whole, the topic on the minds of the Spartikade Organizational Council is whether or not to accept Herzoland as a permanent member, instead of simply just inviting him. Permanent members and regular participants don't intrinsically have any differences, or distinctions on the field, however, permanent members are able to send representatives to sit in the Spartikade Organizational Council, allowing a country to influence the vote on who gets to host the event, and where. Although an independent body, in an odd turn of events, SVIZ representatives have requested that the council not only accept Herzoland as a permanent member, but also allow it to host the event, arguing the jobs it would create, coupled with their attempts to improve rural infrastructure will provide much needed economic opportunities for Herzolandians, as well as, at least temporarily, sharply boost Herzolands tourist industry. The SVIZ representatives have pushed this forward to the council, arguing that it would greatly aid in their plans in pushing for Herzolandish economic modernization and development, would allow them to "split the load", and make it easier for Herzoland itself to begin taking charge of development.

Although the council generally doesn't take outside recommendations, many have generally taken a liking to the idea, primarily due to Herzoland's geographical location, meaning, potentially, 2023 could be the first year the Spartikade took place on Calderian soil (although not the first time a Calderian took part in, or was invited to the Spartikade). Furthermore, this meshes well with plans to increase invitations to Calderian nations to participate in the sporting event in 2023, allowing for the games to remain on the continent, and reduce the potential costs and time of travel for fans. Although the council has also announced it's plans to increase it's invitation to more Selarian nations as well, some even considering inviting Hollefjord to participate in the event, in light of Hollefjords warming of relations with the Safingrad Pact. All of these remain to be discussed and decided upon by the council, but the Konzaskan public eagerly awaits the results.

Herzoland proposes trade deals and military access in Northern Calderia

Herzoland after recently joining SZIV and coming to an agreement that would end all blockades, has been interested in the conflict between Ayutla and Shivacocha. The two northern Calderian nations have in the pat held sympathy towards Herzoland and share an anti Trekan sentiment. The two are also small underdeveloped nations that would appear to be welcoming to Herzoland and its interests rejecting the evermore “Trekan order” of the rest of the continent. Herzoland has reached out to both governments stating a military presence by Herzoland and a general cooperation in the region. As stated by the Konzaskians, the two would be much more willing to accept Herzoland due to it being a Calderian nation and them historically supporting Herzoland during the blockade. It would appear they are now in need for a larger nation for their own security and existence although the dispute over the island has drifted Ayutla and Shivacocha apart from each other with Herzoland offering to mediate while also expanding Herzolandish military presence, a goal supported by the foreign affairs minister, Dubravko Bobanič.

Ayutla Offers Alliance with Herzoland, Makes Moves Towards Pátzcuaro
The Ayutlan Government has offered the Herzolandish government a Defense Treaty. In turn the Herzolandish government will be given the right to station troops in Ayutla. Strategically close to Trekan Allies like Tenoch. Ayutlan diplomats will be dispatched to Kradalach to work out the terms of such an alliance. In the wake of this new potential ally. The Ayutlan government has begun sailing its navy’s Fast Attack Craft through the waters between Pátzcuaro and Shivacocha. A clear sign that Ayutla sees the island as their sovereign territory.

Movements in Selaria, Suntterland

Since Suntterland joined the anti piracy campaign, dozens of pirate ships have been captured, ransacked and their cargo seized by the Duchy’s navy. The first priority for Ducal Naval High Command has been determining the origin points of the various ships, to formulate an official response. While the majority of pirate ships are of ad hoc construction, the identification of wood, and craftsmanship has led to several breakthroughs. Interrogation of prisoners has been far more successful, pointing to a series of decentralised cells that function as hubs of pirate activity. CSAT has been kept up to date with the official statements of the Duchy, though unofficially, the Duchy has called upon the resources of the Tribella itself, with the unspoken legions of eyes and ears providing regular updates across Selaria, it is only a matter of time until the Duchy has a lead. For now, protecting the shipping routes of the Ascendancy is the priority, and asserting Suntterlandish competency to the anxious Lords and Ladies in Essotori, whose opinions and whims matter far more than that of international authorities. The most common goods seized by Essotori include drugs, which are generally destroyed safely, though weapons smuggling is also frequent. While many hoped that these weapons would help determine their handlers’ base, though these weapons varied, on several occasions, Suntterlandish forces even located Essotori crafted firearms. Accompanying the Suntterlandish, are a cadre of Essotori Lords and Ladies, allocated to represent the mother country in all naval matters. Included among this number, are the two rivals, Count David Varson, and Baron Albert Jiscoln, the former insisting upon hearing that the latter had joined. The presence of these aristocrats within the burgeoning Ducal navy is not universally appreciated, especially considering these ‘naval advisors’ often have no practical naval experience. Governor General Jeoffrey Leonard, being of an engineering background, volunteered to join the crew of the Undespoiled, a destroyer, so that he may share in the glory of battle. The crews of the Ducal vessels are generally composed of natives, though graduates of Radonstinatle University are welcomed as officers and more technologically intensive roles.

Internationally, Suntterland has presented several captured witnesses and pirates to the United Nations, affirming their right to launch these strikes, while conveying some sense of legitimacy to the Duchy. Many of the retaken survivors are taken home, or converted to the Tribella, though all happily recanted the stories of heroism and chivalry. Some scoff at the impartiality of these stories, though to openly deny them has become politically untennable. Those doubters in Radonstinatle, shall continue to cry, though their concerns over expenses and impact are slowly being drowned out by the humanitarian support. Many of the lower classes in Essotori hope that Governor General Jeoffrey Leonard will join the fray of Essotori politics directly, once his term in Suntterland is finished. Time will tell how the actions of such men will change Selaria forever.

Herzoland

Herzoland accepts the offer with Ayutla

Herzoland has accepted the alliance offer with Ayutla in the form of a defence treaty and the stationing of Herzolandish troops inside the country. The Herzolandish Government has already sent out naval forces to be stationed off the Ayutlan Coast and has already flown out several troops to joint airforce bases. Herzoland has also made sailing past the disputed island which has only made the alliance stronger. With the military access in northern coast, Herzoland now looks outward especially with Dubravko Bobanič as Foreign Affairs Minister who has planned a visit to the Ayutlan capital.

Herzoland welcomes its membership into the Spartikard

Herzoland has accepted the invitation to Spartikard, following the growth of the sports league to itself and that of Höllefjord. While the larger games have always been in eastern Calderia and will likely remain that, the admission of the country into the Spartikard certainly will grow the organization. Being a massive football nation this is the first time a Calderian nation has ever played in the league, the Herzolandish Football Committee has shown huge support for this move as the Spartikard has become a move global event and not just limited to Berinsky. Football in eastern Calderia is defined between the rivalry between the titans of Herzoland, Arells, and Olympia which Spartikard has noticed.

2022 Election Results

The results of the 2022 election for the Assembly of the People are in, and it has produced some surprising results. As expected, the Christian Solidarity Union has maintained a plurality in the Assembly, winning a total of 157 seats, two less than it held in the previous session. The Optimates have also lost seats, now holding only 138 as opposed to 153 in the previous session. Because of this, the Optimates and the USC no longer hold a majority by themselves, although independent deputies aligning themselves with the Coalition will be enough to maintain practical control. The seats lost by these parties have been largely taken up by the Fatherland Movement, whose increase in popularity was somewhat unexpected; while many analysts predicted that many Minachians had swung further to the right in response to the Government's stricter foreign policy and the Emperor's shaping of national goals, it was thought that this would have resulted in more seats being won by the Optimates and USC, who were seen as more generally popular than the far-right Movement. However, it has also been noted that the Optimates, widely perceived as a party of the posh and old, has less popular appeal among most (especially younger) Minachians than the more energetic Fatherland Movement, who are notable for their outspoken leaders and strong advertising and rallies. Fatherland Movement now holds 56 seats, an increase in 18 from the last Assembly.

Another unexpected (though ultimately unsurprising) result has been the poor performance of the Liberal-Social Party, who won only 99 seats, a loss of 32 from the previous session. Commentators have explained this through the left-leaning Minachians' increasingly poor perception of the PLS, who have been accused of being too subservient to the will of the Coalition and of the Emperor in their reshaping of Minachia as a nation. PLS leader Senator Martinus Duronius has fired back against such accusations, however, saying that his party has done all that it can in the face of the Coalition's control of both the Assembly and the Senate and of other opposition parties' unwillingness to work with him. The seats lost by the PLS have been taken up by the more radical Social Proletarian Party (who now hold 56 seats, an increase of 26), as well as by the libertarian Alternative (41, +16) and by the Greens (18, +4). Moreover, this election has also seen a decrease in the number of independents elected, as it appears that the parties have generally become more popular have worked to take seats won by independents in multiple constituencies due to the Assembly's nature of electing three deputies per district. This may also be due to Minachians' greater understanding of how Assembly elections work since 2020, as it is now clearer that a constituency may elect multiple deputies from a single party.

Overall Performance by Party
Fatherland Movement: 56, +18
Optimates: 138, -15
Christian Solidarity Union: 157, -2
Alternative for the Republic: 41, +16
Liberal-Social Party: 99, -32
Social Proletarian Party: 59, +26
Green Party: 21, +7
Independents (Coalition-aligned): 10, -9
Independents (Opposition-aligned): 19, -9

The Premiership: Norbanus remains, but announces intention to retire.

Following the election, the deputies from the Optimates and the USC, along with their independent and Fatherland Movement confidence and supply, met in order to propose a candidate for the prime ministry to the Emperor. Unsurprisingly, the Coalition nominated incumbent Joannes Norbanus, and His Majesty swiftly moved to renew his mandate to govern, beginning Norbanus's 16th year in power. However, while Mr. Norbanus has accepted the mandate and has promised that he will remain in office as long as he retains the confidence of the current Assembly and of the Senate and the Emperor, he has announced that he will, at latest, step down and retire from public service when the 3rd Assembly takes power in 2025.

In a statement released by the Consular House, the Prime Minister said: "It has been my great pleasure and distinct honor to serve my nation for these last 15 years and His Majesty the Emperor for the last seven. I have often been called one of the greatest leaders our Republic has ever had, no doubt due to my role in ending the Great Interregnum, and it is truly humbling that the Minachian people place their confidence in me year after year. However, my time in office has made me weary, and it is my sincere belief that the nation is due for a change in leadership, so that someone younger and brighter than myself may serve God, Emperor, and country in the years to come. It is with great difficulty that I have come to this decision, but I am confident that the Assembly and the Emperor will be able to select a capable successor in due time. Until then, I am resolved to continue my work as long as the Empire requires it. Long live Minachia, and God save the Emperor."

The announcement, as shocking as it was inevitable, marks the beginning of a great shift in Minachian politics. No clear successor to Mr. Norbanus has appeared yet, and it is indeed unclear if the current Coalition can survive without his unifying leadership, but leaders of both the Optimates and the USC have expressed their eagerness to work with each other and their supporting groups to present a list of nominees to the Emperor, who will have final say over who to place at the head of the Council of Ministers. Several deputies and senators have already expressed their interest in being considered for the position, but prevailing thought holds that the Emperor might prefer one of his current ministers to take up the duties of premiership. Regardless of who is selected, they will no doubt be a defining factor in wherever Minachian politics goes for years to come.

Shivacocha

Shivacochan Soldiers On High Alert
The Shivacochan Pátzcuaro Military Detachment has been placed on its highest alert status possible after the arrival of Herzolandish troops in Ayutla. The Shivacochan Navy has announced plans to move half the fleet into Pátzcuaro. This would total 4 Patrol Vessels and 2 Fast Attack Craft. The dated fast attack craft would be little more than a nuisance to the larger Ayutlan navy. But the 4 Patrol Vessels are modern boats created in Crotin and donated to the Shivacochan military as part of Crotin and Ixtlan’s East Calderian defense support agreement. These Patrol Vessels offer an obstacle to Ayutla’s larger Coastal Defense Warships. And any attempted landed on the Island.

Shivacochan Government Denounces Herzoland, Meets With Potential Allies
The Shivacochan Government has officially denounced and condemned Herzoland’s willing and determined involvement in the Pátzcuaro Dispute. Shivacocha considers their involvement nothing more than “an attempt to take advantage of Ayutla and destabilize Eastern Calderia in an attempt to annoy the Trekan Government.” Shivacocha’s press Secretary had this to say about Herzoland when asked for an opinion on the situation. “It shows a blatant disregard for its own citizens that is known all too well around the world. After a nearly year long blockade has ended, Herzoland has decided to spend its money inciting a crisis on its own continent that doesn’t concern it. All while it should be repairing the damaged Herzolandish economy which has cause widespread suffering throughout the nation.”

In response to Herzoland’s involvement, the Shivacochan government has invited the Trekan Ambassador to the Capitol building 3 times. Although it is unknown why. Shivacocha’s foreign minister has also openly entered talks with Ixtlan to possibly invite a troop detachment from the nation to join the Shivacochan Military at Pátzcuaro. Shivacocha is showing a willingness to match what the Ayutlans are bringing to the table.

Experts Worry About Rise in Extremism

Researchers in political science in universities and think tanks throughout Minachia have recently expressed their concern about the seeming rise in extremism in Minachia, especially over the last year. They point to both the Imperial Government’s increasingly harsh rhetoric in foreign affairs and other areas (the result of the Emperor’s manifesto on Minachia’s role in the world) and the recent Assembly election, where many moderates of the USC and PLS lost their seats to more radical politicians from MP and the PSP, along with the increasing animosity observed between the furthest ends of Minachian politics since the Emperor’s rise to power and the controversial 2020 reforms. Professor Olivia Quirinia, head of the political science department at Tripoli University, expressed her and her colleagues’ worries that “the Minachian Republic may be soon heading toward a path of democratic backsliding and political violence if the Government and the Crown do not lighten up their rhetoric and encourage cooperation among our country’s political factions. It is especially crucial that everything possible be done to keep our politics civil with the upcoming resignation of Prime Minister Norbanus, which will remove one of the key figures encouraging moderation and keeping the parties open to each other.”

However, not all agree with Prof. Quirinia’s sentiment. Dr. Paul Gavendus of the University of Hevitia, who is known to be an ardent supporter of the Emperor and an optimist in general, said that “the concern that Minachian politics are going down some dark path is ridiculous These radicals have always existed, and it is simply the method of the Assembly’s election that has made them more obvious to us, and I would argue that that is really a good thing - the health of democracy depends on how willing we are to listen to civil voices with which we disagree. And that’s another good point; these groups are overwhelmingly peaceful and willing to work with the primary parties, and aren’t any more prone to violence than any other part of society. Even if they were, I’m sure the Emperor would be quick to quell any violence.” Others have accused voices like Quirinia’s of trying to scare Minachian voters back towards “safe” politicians and not ones with which they truly agree, or indeed of spreading outright treasonous messages by casting doubt on the Emperor’s ostensibly nonpartisan role.

In any case, recent events are no doubt reshaping the Minachian political landscape in ways that cannot yet be seen, and only time will tell where it will lead the Empire to in the future.

Former Intelligence Officer Founds Tech Startup

In other news, investors have been buzzing over a recent tech startup founded by former Internal Security Service officer Tribune Johannes Ragonius. Mr. Ragonius, who retired from the ISS two years ago, established the Hevitia-based Ragonius Technology Solutions SPL around eight months ago, and this week announced his intention for the company to go public as a societas anonyma and made a public announcement of the corporation’s business pitch: the development and marketing of high-end computers, telephones, and other devices and systems along with relevant software with an emphasis on maximal data and communication security and the stripping away of what Ragonius has termed “frivolous and commercialized façades that only serve to hypnotize the drooling masses” for use by governments, militaries, and corporations.

Mr. Ragonius, who was a well-regarded Imperial Army tribune attached to the ISS and assigned to the Joint Cyber Defense Force, has an extensive background in providing for the data security of both the military and the Minachian government. He has explained his business as coming from frustrations that he had with the government’s use of what he calls “civilian-focussed” technology, pointing to the overly attractive and attention-eating designs of most smartphones, tablets, and laptops, “with their ridiculous user-agreements that sign your soul away to the demon of foreign tech companies’ data collection schemes and the frivolous applications they support that not only add more vectors from which a user may be tracked, cataloged, and surveilled, but also spew mind-numbing degeneracy that can ensnare even the best, most loyal and focussed intelligence agents.” He laments what he’s described as “the widespread adoption of idiot-boxes instead of useful, efficient technology,” along with the ridiculous lack of data privacy and security apparent in most consumer technology, pointing to instances such as when the location of sensitive military installations has been revealed by their troops’ use of apps that provide public location tracking. Ragonius has thus proposed an alternative: devices which are stripped of any “civilian pandering,” loaded with the best cybersecurity tools available including appropriate physical fallbacks, and designed with all the purposes envisaged for their intended users, which a government, corporation, or other interested party may purchase to issue to its officers and subordinates.

The Ragonius corporation has unveiled its initial line of products to attract both buyers and investors, including a line of smartphones, the Ragonius Phone 1-A, -M, and -C, designed for governmental, military, and corporate applications, respectively, along with a parallel line of PCs, the Ragonius 1000 series. Mr. Ragonius has also said that his R&D team has multiple designs for other ranges of products in the pipeline, which will be revealed once the company has raised enough capital to begin large-scale production.

Investors have become enamored by the intriguing pitch Mr. Ragonius has offered, only enhanced by his extensive set of qualifications, and the brutalist designs of his products, while deemed off-putting and ugly by some, have further earned interest for their rejection of the ergonomics and attractiveness inherent in most modern devices. Indeed, such designs seem to be the point of Ragonius’s whole business model. Moreover, Mr. Ragonius has said that he has contacted figures in the intelligence communities and corporate worlds of both Minachia and several unnamed countries whom he knows from his time with the ISS, claiming that he has received expressions of some interest from them in considering his products for adoption, and he has called on world governments and businesses “to consider improving their own security with the support of me and my company.” In terms of official recognition, an official of the Imperial Ministry of Public Security has said that the Ministry will include Ragonius products just as any other in its process of allocating public funds towards the purchase of technology.
