State of Emergency and National Curfew

It is with great sorrow and concern that the Ministry of Internal Affairs announces a state of emergency in the wake of the tragic and heinous assassination of Prince Mahmoud Tutankhamun Amin, the beloved second son of His Majesty, the Sultan of Egypt and Sudan. The incident occurred when an explosive device was launched at his convoy while leaving the Tahra Palace. Investigations into the perpetrator are ongoing and will be led by the Ministry of Law and Justice and the Center for Security and Analysis.

In light of this unprecedented event, and to ensure the safety and security of our citizens, a nationwide curfew will be enforced starting at 8:00 PM every day until further notice. This curfew is an essential measure to maintain order and protect the well-being of our community.

The National Police and Internal Security Forces will be actively present in major cities, including Cairo, Alexandria, Gizah, Shubra El-Kheima, Port Said, Suez, and Luxor. Their primary objective is to safeguard public safety and prevent any potential threats to our citizens.

Please be advised that any form of public demonstration during this state of emergency will be met with a swift and firm response. Riot control measures will be employed, and those involved in any unlawful activities will be subject to immediate arrests. The government demands unwavering cooperation from all citizens. Disregard for this official decree will be met with the full force of the law. The safety and well-being of the nation supersede individual liberties during this critical period. There will be no criminal liability for injuries or deaths caused by state security agencies if you violate public security measures.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs extends its deepest condolences to the royal family, and we are committed to bringing the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice. Let us stand united during this difficult period and work together to rebuild the sense of security and peace within our beloved nation.

May peace be upon us all.

Sincerely,
Akram Adel Tawfiq
Minister of Internal Affairs
Sultanate of Egypt and Sudan
