Fact of the day: Toxic materials that get ingested by species at the bottom of the food chain build up in intensity as creatures higher up the food chain eat them, this means that it may not be as harmful to prey animals, but predators may get lethal doses of toxins; this is what happened to eagles across the U.S. which resulted in their eggs' shells being too thin and cracking upon laying, killing the chick inside.
