Sim Sang-jung Announces Intention to Step Down, Korea Considers Japan a 'Threat' as Anti-Japanese Sentiment Increases

      | Amid bubbling tension across the East Asian Region incumbent Prime Minister, Sim Sang-jung, has announced her intention to step down from her role as leader of the Justice Party to 'allow for the younger generation to take over' and will remain in office until a new leader is chosen. She will also resign as Prime Minister upon the election of a new party leader, who will then theoretically take over the office, should it be approved by the National Assembly. The 65 year-old is the longest serviving progressive parliamentarian having served in the National Assembly since the 2004 legislative election, she is also regarded as the 'mother of the left' having been regularly placed under house arrest in the 1970s and 1980s for her underground movement in fighting for labour rights in a very conservative and authoritarian Korea. |

      | As Sim makes arrangements to leave office and find her successor, a war of words between Korea and Japan continues to wage on, after Japan was quoted saying that Korea had to be put in its place, protesters quickly gathered outside the Japanese Embassy in Seoul demanding the ambassador be removed from Korea. Korean Police were less than active in attempting to stop any damages to the building but quickly remove those that attempted to storm the building. Conservative lawmakers accuse Japan of the threatening war with its words, and have called on the government to build up the naval capacity and presence in the Sea of Japan and particularly in Jeju where Korea's Naval HQ is located. |

"Japan has for too long taken Korea for granted, threatened us at every opportunity and still sees Korea as the sick child of Asia, when in fact it is getting old and fading into the background. Korea must not stand for their insult and their clear provocating actions. We must take action to protect Korea from harm."

        Na Kyung-won, Liberty Korea Leader

      | Na Kyung-won, the figurehead of the Liberty Korea Party, has been riding the growing wave of anti-Japanese sentiment in order to secure her party's election victory. The right has been locked out of political power since 2019 when the Park Geun-hye junta was booted from power in an open power-struggle between the junta and the monarchy, although the right discounts Park's administration as not part of their movement. Na is hoping that the rights time has come, and that the growing tension between the two nations can catapult her into the Blue House. Time will tell whether this growing tension will spill into something much more dangerous, but to many it looks like two nations looking for excuses to obliterate each other from the map. |

Coups, Counter-Coups, and Annexation
___________

DAMASCUS- The February Coup in Syria, and subsequent conquest of Lebanon went somewhat unnoticed in the rest of the Middle East. Most countries were too concerned with the instability in Iran and the resulting Arab Arms Race to take notice of one tinpot dictator replacing another. But that didn’t mean time stopped in the streets of Damascus. And the violence was far from over.

On the surface, the rule of Queen Assala Nasri was simple: a well-connected spy chief with military connections knocking over the government to install herself as ‘royalty.’ There was more depth however and it was all tied to regional politics. The Syrian Arab Republic, the last vestige of Ba’athism, was guided mostly by its military. They were Arab nationalists with enough weapons to kill anyone who disagreed. For a long time Bashar al-Assad was at their head, brutally ruling Syria as an isolationist state through thick and thin. But the emergence of the Arab Federal States brought a rift to Syria. Much of the military’s upper crust saw the AFS as a new chance for Arab unity, even if it had to be democratic this time. Assad disagreed, unwilling to consider sacrificing his own power. And so the plans emerged. A plot was crafted by some of the younger members of the General Staff.

The military openly overthrowing Assad was seen as diplomatically unsavory, so a new path was needed, General Nasri, Chief of Staff for the Syrian Armed Forces, was the perfect pick. His daughter, Assala was a prominent member of the Syrian intelligence community and was seen as an ideal choice. Many believed she could be corralled and guided. Using her connections, the military suggested their openness to the coup she’d already contemplated before. With her father’s backing, al-Assad and his family were arrested and sent to rot in a MID prison. Assala was elevated to ‘Queen’, and convinced to purge some of the armed forces. Conveniently those in the armed forces most loyal to Assad were also those most opposed to unification with the AFS. Then in the infancy of the United Kingdom of Levant was Operation Unification; the political decapitation and annexation of Lebanon. Already in the works, the overt illegality of the operation was every excuse the military needed to enact its own counter-coup. In May 2024, after just four months on her bastard throne, Assala Nasri was arrested by Syrian Special Forces. The military seized Damascus and announced interim martial law. Baghdad was conveniently warned of all of this. A week into the martial law it was announced that negotiations had been completed and Syria would be integrated into the Arab Federal States.

Syria State would be the fourth in the Federacy, and its 14 Governorates would bring the total count to 51. ANAF forces entered Syria and began to fold the existing Syrian military into their ranks. Three months would be given to prepare and execute democratic elections, at which point Syria would be fully integrated into the Arab States. It was announced Bashar al-Assad would be kept in prison and tried for his crimes. Lebanon, racked with its own turmoil following the Nasri regime, was seeking self-determination. It would be given independence to sort out its own affairs. Baghdad made it clear it had no interest in annexing Lebanon unless it was popularly requested among the Lebanese people.

Much would have to be done to dismantle the dictatorial power the Assad regime had held, but the outcome was clear: freedom and democracy had come to Syria.

YOSHIHIDE SUGA, A NEW "ABE 2.0"

    Reiwa 6 ― May 13, 2024

        | KANTEI, TOKYO — [...] Entering Japanese politics, where many politicians come from wealthy families, Yoshihide Suga is different. The current Prime Minister of Japan comes from a humble family of farmers, where his life was with much effort and determination to climb the political ladder. Mr. Suga took office after, for the first time in Japan's history, a Pime Minister was accused of corruption and then impeached. Clearly very different from Deputy Prime Minister Abe, who came from an elite family — Suga managed to be Prime Minister without money, connections or surname. In public opinion, Suga was called "Abe 2.0", where many pointed out that he would be under the influence of Deputy Prime Minister Abe, to keep the Government focused on the policies of the Former Abe Administration — in the same way that he himself had these goals. "Yes, Prime Minister Suga is able to deal with the problems that surround Japan, both internally and externally [...] Suga is an astute, intelligent politician [...] but a "quiet" politician," says one of the Government Officials.

In a note published by Kantei, "Japan will try to resolve tensions with Kingdom of Korea (Rutannia) in a more diplomatic way and asks the Korean Administration to do the same, if we do not want to transform Asia into a continent of war," says the Prime Minister. |

With ongoing tensions in the Middle East, I think that it is imperative for us to renegotiate this ATMA to make it more modern, reliable, stable, and productive for both of our countries."

King Talal and Sultan Abdul would walk into the palace and to the throne room, where there would be two thrones placed facing each other with a long polished redwood table in the middle of both individuals.

King Talal al-Saud:

"Sultan Abdul, I will not waste time. With the new reconfiguration of the Middle East, we have found ourselves in quite the predicament and I would like to know personally and truthfully where Ankara's true interests reside in the region."

This is where international relations go complicated and can lead to misunderstandings. ATMA was a great alliance between us but now Turkey is being forced to one side. The Sultanate is trying to remain neutral regarding this, but as the Galla is getting more closer with Egypt, and as Turkey is against Egypt it has become a mix-up of matters. The ATMA should be more modern I strongly agree with that, but I also dont want the Galla deciding to go full on Egypt's side as if we betrayed them."

"And yet if the Sultanate continues to increase their cooperation with Galla, who is knowingly anti-Arab and anti-Islam, the Sultanate will push itself not only away from Saudi Arabia but also potentially from the Persian Gulf Pact members, who collectively represent the 3rd largest economic market in the world and robust military capabilities both individually and collectively...more than the Galla can ever muster let alone contribute to security measures if it wanted to. Yes there is history between Galla and Turkey but there is also history between Arabia and Turkey going back to the 1800s and prior. Galla going to Egypt is a simple pivot because of Egypt's manpower and their positioning of the Suez. The desire of the Galla to acquire the Bab el-Mandeb Strait is to solidify both their positions and demonstrate a chokehold on global trade if matters do not go their way in accordance to their national interests and policy. Ankara. Saudi Arabia possesses the largest deposits of natural gas and oil, of which you need in addition to direct access to the Indian Ocean, of which you also need.

Understanding that the recent pivot of Syria to Iraq may have Ankara rather on edge, think of it this way: through pivoting back to a friendship with Arabia and managing economic deals with the Persian Gulf Pact, Turkey is placed in a much better position than continuing to keep an alliance or partnership of a sizable degree with the Galla, who clearly wants tensions to boil over toward war with Arabia. Not once has Saudi Arabia sought discord or tensions with the Galla let alone Egypt. Saudi Arabia has not done anything but to ensure the utmost security of its own people and the peninsula. Your country is predominantly Muslim Sultan Abdul. How would your people genuinely feel is Turkey is found to militarily support a country who not only despises Arabs but also is clearly growing anti-Muslim. Abdul, you are a Muslim sovereign....hence your title of Sultan. There should be no question where you should place your cooperation further. I do not care for the words, rhetorics, or actions of Egypt as Saudi Arabia has contingency plans such as a Red Sea A2/AD (Anti-Area/Access Denial) framework that stretches from the mouth of the Red Sea to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Egypt is the least of my worries and neither is the Galla."

King Talal al-Saud would take a sip of tea.

King Talal al-Saud:

"The 2014 Alliance between our countries demonstrated recognition of Arabia as the leader of the Arab World and continual leader of the Muslim World in conjunction to bilateral understandings and coordination of policies that are mutual beneficial to both countries. This Ankara pivot to a country that seeks the subjugation of Arabs and the grotesque mockery of Islam is quite abhorrent and it is not a fire that I would play with in any regard. It is within your best interest to really prioritize your security and political commitments to the Galla but the firing of a missile or the firing of a gun will be caused by the negligence of Gallans and their antiquated disillusions of grandiose destiny acclamations instead of the real reality of the current times."

I also do not largely support the Gallan expansion in the middle east. I will be heading to Galla after this meeting to make sure Addis Ababa and Ankara are on the same page. The protection of Muslims must be an important policy of the Sultanate, thank you for prompting that subject King Talal. I do not want to outright leave the Gallans, that would be unfair and hurtful, so let us make this meeting as a warning to them, surely they would understand their wrong doing. Under the leadership of Onik Gasparyan, who according to secret reports of the Iranian State, was verbed by the Iranian Intelligence Agency soon after the collapse of the SGRI and the Armenian independence. Operation ARMENIAN LIBERTY was quickly incorporated after Gasparyan became the leading figure. After all major political opponents were arrested by Gasparyan, he attended a secret meeting in Tabriz with the Empress in which the Armenian-Iranian Accords were signed that officially incorporated Armenia as a Union-state of Iran. By 14th of May, Armenia and Iran found themselves in unity with some civil unrest happening, mainly due to Azerbaijan being part of the Union as well. The unrest was quickly put down, however, by Gasparyan who has become the Councillor of Armenia.

Soon afterwards, Empress Esfir Diba's public ratings quickly risen going up to 61% from 48%. Soon afterwards, on 17th of May a chain of events happened in Georgia under the leadership of Giorgi Matiashvili, the Chief in Command of Georgian military forces. The Georgian government was overthrown and the military took control of the country, and keeping civil unrest under control, Matiashvili met with the Empress of Iran on the night of 19th of May. It is yet unclear what the conversation entailed, however on 21st of May, Iran and Georgia signed the Iranian-Georgian Accords and unified. Matiashvili became the Councillor of Georgia and on 24th of May, Empress Esfir spoke to the people of Iran, Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan as history was being made.

[ Empress Esfir Diba ]: "My dear people, we have made history as we have become one. We have dreamt of this day for centuries, and we have achieved our goal of reunifying. We're a force to be reckoned with, we're a force that connects the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea, a force which will enable greater success for us and the region. We're a mighty nation of mighty people, and we welcome Armenia and Georgia into our prosperous family. SGRI establishment treated you in ways which only you know, but I can promise you that Iran will treat you as equals, as prosperous proud people and I will do all in my might to bring prosperity upon you like you've never seen before!

We're the chosen people of the chosen lands, and we will not fear the unification that will bring us into liberty, prosperity and might. We are strong, we are courageous and we are ready. You're part of the Iranian family now, a family that cares for one another, a family that stands united, a family in which we prosper and in which we rule! You're equals, your culture, pride and beauty will never be taken away, never be shattered and always respected! You're part of my family now, and with all the help of God, may I guide you with light, wisdom and liberty. All I ask in return, is loyalty. Loyalty will give us prosperity, prosperity will give us liberty and liberty will give us strength! May God Bless Our Union, Our State, Our Empire!"

Major projects have already been announced, such as the great railways from the Persian Gulf Coasts to the Black Sea coasts. Such new trade routes will effectively bring Iranian products to Europe faster and bring European products to Iran, and to wider Asia faster, safer and more stable. Iranian Economist, Zahvan Bishar stated that "...with continuous tensions rising amidst the Red Sea and the Suez canal, a new alternative for trade has appeared from the Black Sea to the Persian Gulf giving Europe a much safer, securer and better option for trade..." With major projects announced, the civilians of Armenia and Georgia are observing and many political analysts suggest that the next few months will be crucial in terms of how the relations between Armenia and Georgia within Iran form, and how easily or difficult it will be to keep said nations in tact within Iran. |

Lebanese Annexation: The Deal with the Devil

After the unification of Syria with the Arab Federal States, the Lebanese government had started to worry. The clock had began to tick. Saad Hariri, the Lebanese PM, had began to get worried. He had just managed to avoid utter assimilation by the Arab Federal States, but he was sure they would be back for more. Already they had a giant border, and with Assad in jail, he was sure of Khalil looking to force or even invade Lebanon. To the south they had the neutral Israel, who had been rather dormant. There was one other option. Surely Unthinkable?

The other option was Egypt, who was probably willing to give more autonomy. The authoritarian rule of Sisi was not a pleasing sight, yet the only alternative to the utter destruction of the Lebanese identity, the assimilation into the Arab identity. Although Lebanon would become a part of Egypt, it was a safe haven from the instability to the east, and a solution to the recent spike in religious tensions.

Sisi had a strong base surprisingly in the Maronite Christian higher ups, considering that he had a good record of treating Christians good, having the largest mosque in the Middle East, and a Coptic Defense Minister. He had a muddy Sunni Muslim base, and the Shias completely rejecting the idea. This unsteady supporter base was enough for him to seize the power along with a reluctant Hariri.

One week later, it was announced that unification would take place, merging Lebanon into Egypt. Sisi would make a speech in the capitol building of Beirut, and it was a day of sorrow and stillness that day. The Lebanese people would weep and stare at the empty rainy skies, as the Egyptian flag would be raised all across the country.

"Today is a momentous day for both our countries.... Our two great nations have merged, and...

Gunshots would be heard as Shia rebels would try to overtake the building and end the unification and its idea. Sisi would dispatch the Egyptian military across the former capital city and continue his speech.

"It is a glorious day..."

By midnight, with shaky hands, the documents for unification were signed, the Lebanese Republic became the Lebanese Autonomous Region, and it was made official. The military generals in Memphis would celebrate.

The dream of a Greater Egypt was in reach.

With the sun reflecting off his aviator glasses, King Talal al-Saud would flash a smile and provide a nod to the Sultan as he approached. Extending his hand for a firm handshake, Talal would begin:

l King Talal al-Saud l:

"Sultan. It is very gracious to meet with you this beautiful afternoon. I hope that your flight was well yes? I am truly looking forward to our discussions today as we continue the Turk-Arabian Partnership and further communication and prosperity between Riyadh and Ankara."

Our alliance that has been made on April 2014, singed as the Arab-Turkic Muslim Alliance or ATMA, hopefully we can continue further corporation without damaging our interests. "

Alzarikstan wrote:King Talal al-Saud:

"Yes indeed the ATMA has brought great development to the Peninsula as Ankara has demonstrated itself to be a reliable partner.

| Sultan Abdul Hamid III | "As you know there is a current arms race in the Middle East, Turkey is more directed against Egypt but the Galla, an ally of the Sultanate and Turkey since 1900s has seemed to be concerned about your expanding power and has sided with Egypt.

Alzarikstan wrote:King Talal al-Saud:

Abessinienreich wrote:

| Sultan Abdul Hamid III | "I will negotiate to the Gallan officials about the Musilm community in Galla and their foreign policy regarding Muslims King Talal I shall assure that for you. If the Galla does not agree to the Turkish terms I shall take on your side on the protection of Muslims. And also I must remind you, Turkey is not against Saudi Arabia at all, most military buildup is against Egypt. Hopefully the Galla would change its ways, they have been an important and strategic ally of the Turkish, and so has been the Saudi's and hopefully soon the Iraqis and Iranians. But also I'm sure Galla's region at Somalia is where most Muslims are allowed to worship God freely."

"The Iraqi expansion into Syria does not concern me the at the greatest as long as they keep the region stable and do not attempt to nationalize the Turkish Oil mines and infrastructure there, Ankara shall not intervene. Now, economic deals you say? What is your proposal? Oil will not last forever so perhaps mutual technological research regarding civilian energy and products?"

Alzarikstan wrote:l King Talal al-Saud l:

Regarding economic deals, you are correct that oil will not last forever; however, what we have realized is that the global transition is to natural gas as well as civilian energy and products with nuclear power plants and solar. I can agree to mutual technological research projects between our two countries in this matter. I can allow for this to happen."

"Say No for Baguette"

Months following official protest of the Roman government against the French government in the European Union courts. Group of citizens started to protest front of the French Embassy in Rome. Which first was a small group, have time by time increased by hundred of citizens, many of them claiming that France and Macron were traitors of the European spirit, they carry plaques and posters with playful phrases like "Say No to Baguette", many of them advocate for a national-wide boycott against French goods.

Officially the government hasn't placed any retaliation policy against France, waiting for the decision of the court. But authorities clearly are not making energic movements against the boycott proposed by some groups and the satirical portraits of Macron in the local media. Many specialists believe that it's a question of time before the protestors decide to implement their own boycott against France, it's that this situation puts even more pressure at the European Court of Justice.

HIGH RISK, HIGH REWARD: INDONESIA AND ISF AGREE TO DISCUSS CEASEFIRE AS FIGHTING CONTINUES

As the war on terrorism continued to mount casualties and expenses, the Indonesian government, with the support of its IPDEC allies, continued their heavy bombing runs on ISF positions to inflict high casualties. By May 2, IPDEC forces had gained almost 50 kilometers of land, pushing the Islamic Salvation Front (ISF) to a small coastal village on the opposite side of Java Island to Jakarta. Air Force jets, and for the first time, Bangladeshi unmanned attack drones fired upon the 560-man ISF stronghold, which fell on May 7. By May 9, the IPDEC had crushed ISF resistance to the point where all missile batteries and artillery pieces were seized, and the ISF only existed in small pockets. IPDEC military forces moved from aggressive offensive posture to a semi-aggressive containment posture, aimed at containing, isolating, and defeating surrounded ISF forces. A joint armored force of 7 Leopard 2A7 tanks, 21 MMWT Harimau tanks, and 4 T-14 Armata tanks departed a Jakarta military installation escorted by 450 Indonesian and 50 Bangladeshi troops. The Joint Armored Force (JAF) captured 650 ISF insurgents over the course of seven days, with an additional 350 the next day when a large stronghold was captured. On May 14, an Indonesian patrol force of 25 motorized troops stumbled across an abandoned ISF warehouse. Inside were classified troop movement documents that were apparently thrown into a trash bin. Air force attack jets bombed these troop movement corridors, eliminating 350 ISF insurgents in the process of moving from stronghold to stronghold. From May 1 to May 14, IPDEC forces sustained only 201 casualties, with 670 wounded. The ISF had sustained 1,000+ casualties, with an unknown number of wounded. On May 15, ISF commanders agreed to discuss the possibility of a ceasefire to prevent further casualties or damage.

Arab States Reaffirm Commitment To Turkish Partnership
    __________

The shaky partition of the United Kingdom of Levant was just that: shaky. The country was bisected along previous borders: Syria to join the Arabs by democracy, and Lebanon to join Egypt by force. Understandably, Ankara and its Sultan found themselves on edge. Seeking to remedy this, Ayman Safadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, reached out to Turkey in hopes of soothing worries.

The message reaffirmed that Baghdad did not seek hostility or seek to pressure Turkey. It had no interest in pursuing the land dispute around Hatay province. It reiterated that Baghdad remained committed to the Tigris-Euphrates Enrichment Agreement and saw it as a baseline for further Arab-Turkish relations and cooperation. It suggested further cooperation on security, including joint efforts against PKK communists and terrorists and joint naval exercises in the Eastern Mediterranean. Above all, it hoped to confirm that Baghdad still views Ankara as a friendly and productive regional partner.
