I guess it is a good idea to be nice in my nation if you plan on taking office. Better to be safe than sorry any way.
In the real world, I was given different advice from different masters. One piece of advice was "when in doubt, be extra polite". They claimed that 99% of social relations became easier when politeness is observed.
I suppose they became a master for........ easier dealings with people during the other 1% of the time. (-:
