Hello, World, and welcome to SEA's RMB! I hope you like your stay!

The Commonwealth marches 38 million men into the region and declares it liberated.

Wonderful! We welcome our new overlords!
Make yourself at home, only rule so far being no shoes on the sofa. ; )

Also, do you care if we use Frozopia as an unplayed character puppet nation here? Just to give us a sandbox?

Sounds like a plan. If you want, you can write a factbook about it, too - either as a NPC-Nation or as an Unoccupied Territory.

Good evening,

I'm helping to liberate this place. That being said, I'm already feeling home. Is there still iced tea in the fridge? :)

Of course there is! Help yourself to some iced tea, peanuts should be around as well. And Chips for the big game Germany vs. Sweden should be a well.
Tell us a bit about yourself... and, more importantly, your bet. ; )

My heart says Sweden, my brain says Germany.

Pretty much the other way round with me. Although I do figure Löw did some reasonable changes, I still don't have a good feeling about this. I just hope there will be no 4:4 again ^^

Oh, my family's calling - they want to know where I hid the drinks ;) I'll be back later. :)

Are you both really German? I keep ending up as the only American in regions.

Avisronia wrote:Are you both really German? I keep ending up as the only American in regions.

Yes. I live in Germany, was born and raised here, but also have some roots in Serbia.

With 1-0 for Sweden, I'd say 2-0 for Sweden, Germany out, Mexico champion. My Dad sends his regards, he's Mexican. ; )

Another important fact about me: I hate being right. Luckily, I wasn't. :)

As an American soccer fan, it hurts me to see Mexico do well. But I have serious respect for their fan base and team in general. And it garners CONCACAF more respect.

I’m from Southwestern Virginia.

That is, the SW corner of Virginia.

Appalachia. Coal country. Trump country. Center of the opioid crisis.

It’s unfortunate.

I've known a couple of Mexicans here when I went to school - most of them exchange students. Most of them were very nice lads and lassies, actually.

Latin American soccer fans generally have quite a special mindset. Nowhere in these countries, a Mesut Özil refusing to sing the national anthem would survive ;)

Well, so much for my skills fortune telling... I owe a colleague a bottle of tea.
Don't let the good result fool you, we're far from in the safe zone.

You're right, of course - there's still a number of dumb things that may occur.

I'm from North Rhine-Westphalia - formerly a Social Democrats stronghold, now (for the second time within the last 10 years) governed by a coalition of Christian Democrats and Liberal Democrats. Most parts of them usually vote for Social Democrats and Greens, but we also some regions that have always been rather conservative. The only real good thing is that Bremen and Berlin are still worse off than us. At least two states we can joke about ^^

You guys are still spoiled though. Virginia is effectively home to the entire American federal government, but where I’m from is a solid 10 hour interstate trip from there. We’re essentially resource trapped by either coal or agriculture, and rely heavily on federal and state funding just to survive.

I have a Ba and am on my way to a JD, and there’s essentially no jobs.

Coal mining also used to be a thing in NRW, along with steel industry - now, both are almost completely gone. We're the state hosting most unemployed people in Germany for a reason (and not only because we are the largest one by population). ^^ But still, it just sounds that you are clearly much worse off.

I have German heritage. A lot of German immigrants landed in New York and followed the spine of the Appalachians down south.

If things keep going as they are, I may move to Germany.

There's an old saying around these parts, that one quarter of all Americans has a German Grandmother and one quarter has a Mexican Grandmother. Overlaps being possible. ; )

Fun aside, gentlemen, I would like to bring the focus of this region to life, namely, that we are roleplayers and that we start a regional roleplay. Avisronia and I already talked a bit about 'Playgrounds' for us, and I would like to hear your opinion about both Lutetii and Frozopia, Lillo.
Other then that, I would also like to start an actual roleplay.

EDIT: Lutetii, the Winged Lion's Lament, being here.

So, Lutetii looks basically like a modern Republic of Venice to me. As they don't love the Selkie very much, they might become some nicely annoying neighbor.
What's the thing with Frozopia? I'd need some info.

Generally, having 'playgrounds' around can never be bad. You got plans with them?

Avisronia has to tell you about Frozopia.
The plans for the playgrounds, nations within our geographic region, but not part of SEA, vary widely. For example, at the moment Lutetii is going to be the annoying neighbour with the big mafia, which is going to play a vital role in the criminal underworld plus a general sourpuss. Might be expanded upon in the future.
If you have ideas for 'playgrounds', feel free to share them.

Okay, that's good to know. I might draft some 'playground' as soon as I have ideas. I will let you guys know then.

Frozopia is a neighbor of Avisronia that I fought a war with about 10 years ago IRL. It ended in a nuclear exchange and the full destruction of the infrastructure of Frozopia. One city there, Holston, is full of Avisronian expats. The Commonwealth basically claims Frozopia enough to stop foreign powers from intervening there, but generally wants very little to do with it. Very mountainous island country, hard to get around because all the bridges and power stations got JDAM’d, and full of insurgents wielding Harpoon missiles ready to ruin a foreigners day.

A lot of crime syndicates use it to raid commercial shipping, which leads to direct conflict with Avisronia’s massive navy.
