“Hurry up and live.” by Lucius Annaeus Seneca

The Stoic

"If a man kneels before God, he can stand against any man."

“Nothing, to my way of thinking, is a better proof of a well ordered mind than a man's ability to stop just where he is and pass some time in his own company.” by Lucius Annaeus Seneca

The Stoic

"Politics/Economics are merely tools for us to build a better society, and treating them like religions does everyone a disservice and muddies the water of what ought to, ideally, be a purely rational and data-based discussion." - Whatifalthist

Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.” So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.

Dealing with issues on Discord, but otherwise doing well and chilling atm.

When you judge our society positively compared to previous eras of history keep three things in mind:

1)You’re often judging societies at their worst, since we know how they fall. Feudalism was a functional social structure in the year 1200, but we judge it now for the bloated monster it devolved into in the 1300s.

2)You’re indoctrinated since the cradle with the myths of our society which exist to create loyalty to our time in history. These myths go deeper than you’d ever imagine where your ideas on government, work, religion are all based off your era of history. Other eras aren’t allowed to argue back either.

3)You don’t actually know how your societies work. Someone in 200 years will have a more objective comprehension of our societies than we do. I’ve been reading a bunch of books which talk about how modern society is “managerial or technofeudalism”, which is fascinating but no one thinks that today. Alternately I’ve read books which have examined the stranglehold bureaucracy has on our society, which we don’t think about or the secret things the CIA has been doing. All of these we’ll only know in retrospect. - Whatifalthist

Imperial Documents
We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, the maker of heaven and earth, of things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the begotten of God the Father, the Only-begotten, that is of the substance of the Father.
God of God, Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten and not made; of the very same nature of the Father, by Whom all things came into being, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible.
Who for us humanity and for our salvation came down from heaven, was incarnate, became human, was born perfectly of the holy virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit.
By whom He took body, soul, and mind, and everything that is in man, truly and not in semblance.
He suffered, was crucified, was buried, rose again on the third day, ascended into heaven with the same body, [and] sat at the right hand of the Father.
He is to come with the same body and with the glory of the Father, to judge the living and the dead; of His kingdom there is no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the uncreate and the perfect; Who spoke through the Law, the prophets, and the Gospels; Who came down upon the Jordan, preached through the apostles, and lived in the saints.
We believe also in only One, Universal, Apostolic, and [Holy] Church; in one baptism with repentance for the remission and forgiveness of sins; and in the resurrection of the dead, in the everlasting judgement of souls and bodies, in the Kingdom of Heaven and in the everlasting life.

Belated Founding Declaration of the Raxulan Empire
In the progression of time and the unfolding of history, it becomes necessary for a people to affirm their identity, their values, and their aspirations, to draw from the strength of their past and chart a course for their future. We, the people of Raxula, gather under the beneficence of Providence and the banner of Christian principles, to do just this.
We declare the establishment of the Raxulan Empire, an embodiment of our shared history, a testament to our collective spirit, and a beacon of our hopes for the future. From the fertile plains of Ukraine to the vast expanses of Kazakhstan, from the ancient city of Panticapaeum to the shores of the Caspian Sea, we embrace our diversity as our strength, pledging to build an empire that reflects the richness of our lands and the resilience of our people.

We, the Raxulans, inheritors of the proud traditions of the Bosporan Kingdom, successors to the legacy of the Roman Empire, and descendants of the indomitable Scythians, affirm our commitment to the values that bind us - love, justice, humility, peace, respect for all life, and the pursuit of righteousness. Our identity, shaped by the varied cultures, religions, and languages that thrive within our borders, is anchored in these unchanging principles.

We acknowledge our Christian roots and the significant influence of the Muslim community, celebrating our religious diversity as a testament to our commitment to freedom and respect for all. We believe in the sanctity of life, the inherent dignity of the individual, and the importance of the family. We uphold the values of courage, honor, and exploration, drawing inspiration from the adventurous spirit of the Norse.

The Raxulan Empire, as we envision it, is an Absolute Christian Libertarian Monarchy, with the Emperor as the embodiment of executive power, symbolizing our unity and our shared commitment to the principles that guide us. We pledge to uphold individual liberty, promote the rule of law, and strive for justice, fairness and prosperity under the watchful gaze of God.

Our Empire, our homeland, is a living mosaic of cultures, a melting pot of influences that range from the Romans to the Greeks, from the Scythians to the many ethnic groups that have enriched our lands with their unique contributions. We celebrate this diversity, fostering a sense of belonging and pride among all Raxulans, whether they reside within the borders of the Empire or beyond.

Our commitment extends beyond our borders. As Raxulans, we carry our values, our culture, and our spirit of exploration with us wherever we go, creating bridges of understanding and cooperation with the wider world. We are ambassadors of our Empire, carrying the torch of our principles and sharing the richness of our heritage.

In the spirit of unity and shared purpose, we, the people of Raxula, affirm this declaration, pledging our unwavering commitment to the Raxulan Empire, our shared values, and our collective destiny. We stand as one people, under God, with liberty and justice guiding our path forward. Together, we embark on this journey, embracing our past, cherishing our present, and looking ahead to a future filled with promise.

The Rise and Legacy of the Roxolani Empire
In the 300s BC, the Roxolani tribe, a Sarmatian people, migrated into the Bosporan Kingdom, an ancient state located on the northern shores of the Black Sea. Over time, the ruling dynasty of the Bosporan Kingdom was replaced by a family from the Roxolani tribe, and the nation was renamed Roxolania. Under their rule, the Roxolani Empire expanded its territory, conquering modern-day Ukraine and southern Russia.

In the 1st century BC, the Roxolani Empire voluntarily became a client state and ally of the Roman Empire. This allowed them to benefit from Roman technology, military prowess, and trade networks. As their relationship with Rome deepened, the Roxolani Empire eventually merged with the Roman Empire but retained its ruling family as governors.

In the 4th century AD, the Roman Empire split into East and West, and the Roxolani lands became part of the Eastern Roman Empire, also known as the Byzantine Empire. However, the Roxolani territory, now known as the Raxulan Empire, soon broke off from the Byzantine Empire, forming a separate North Roman Empire.

Throughout its history, the Raxulan Empire faced numerous challenges and adapted to the changing world around it. Here are some key moments:

- Rise of Christianity: The Raxulan Empire embraced Christianity in the early 4th century, following the example of the Roman Empire. This helped to strengthen their ties with the Byzantine Empire and other Christian states.

- Hunnic invasions: In the 5th century, the Raxulan Empire was threatened by the Huns but managed to maintain its independence by allying with the Byzantine Empire and other neighboring states.

- Fall of the Western Roman Empire: As the Western Roman Empire crumbled in the late 5th century, the Raxulan Empire managed to survive by maintaining strong ties with the Byzantine Empire.

- Migrations of the Slavs: The Slavic migrations of the 6th and 7th centuries led to cultural and demographic changes within the Raxulan Empire. The Roxolani ruling class adapted to the new reality by incorporating Slavic elites and customs into their own culture.

- Rise of Islam and the Muslim Empires: The Raxulan Empire faced increased pressure from Muslim forces in the 7th and 8th centuries. They managed to maintain their independence and even expand into Central Asia during the age of colonialism, seizing territory from weakened Muslim states.

- Viking Age and Crusades: The Raxulan Empire had to defend its borders against Viking raids and participated in the Crusades along with its Byzantine allies.

- Mongol and Russian expansion: The Raxulan Empire was threatened by the Mongol invasions in the 13th century but managed to maintain its independence through diplomacy and military strength. The rise of Russia and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the late medieval period led to a new balance of power in Eastern Europe, with the Raxulan Empire as a key player.

- Decline of the Byzantine Empire and rise of the Ottoman Empire: After the fall of the Byzantine Empire in 1453, the Raxulan Empire became a fierce rival of the Ottoman Empire. The Raxulan rulers made it their mission to destroy the Ottomans, liberate the peoples under their rule, and help reestablish Byzantium in one form or another. They formed alliances with the Greeks, Romanians, Armenians, Kurds, and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth to counter Ottoman expansion.

- The era of the French Revolution and Napoleon: The Raxulan Empire remained staunchly pro-monarchist during the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars, lending support to European coalitions against Napoleon.

- The Victorian Era: Throughout the 19th century, the Raxulan Empire continued to expand its influence in Central Asia and maintain its territorial integrity. It modernized its economy and military, embracing industrialization and the ideals of capitalism.

- World War I: The Raxulan Empire joined the Allies during WWI, fighting against the Central Powers. After the war, it gained additional territories at the expense of defeated nations.

- Interwar era: During the interwar period, the Raxulan Empire focused on internal development and maintaining a balance of power in Eastern Europe.

- World War II: The Raxulan Empire opposed both Nazism and fascism, joining the Allies once again in WWII. Its military played a crucial role in defeating Axis forces on the Eastern Front.

- The Cold War: The Raxulan Empire remained anti-communist during the Cold War, aligning itself with the United States and other Western countries against the Soviet Union and its satellite states.

- Modern day: In the 21st century, the Raxulan Empire has emerged as a major regional power, maintaining its commitment to monarchy, capitalism, and Christianity. It continues to support the independence and development of former Ottoman territories and has played a significant role in international diplomacy and conflict resolution.

Throughout its long history, the Raxulan Empire has managed to adapt to the changing world and maintain its core values and territorial integrity. As a constant loyal ally of the Byzantine Empire and later, the modern Greek state, it has contributed to the shaping of European history and proven itself a resilient and enduring nation. - The Pax Raxulana: During the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD, the Raxulan Empire experienced a period of peace and prosperity known as the Pax Raxulana. This era was characterized by extensive trade, cultural exchange, and the construction of monumental architecture, including grand palaces and temples.

- The Great Library of Panticapaeum: The Raxulan Empire was known for its scholarly pursuits, and its capital, Panticapaeum, housed the Great Library, which was a center for learning and research. Scholars from around the known world flocked to the library, contributing to an intellectual golden age.

- Raxulan art and architecture: Raxulan art and architecture combined elements from various cultures, including Greek, Roman, Sarmatian, and later, Slavic influences. This unique style can be seen in their intricately decorated palaces, temples, and public buildings.

- The Raxulan Code: In the 6th century, the Raxulan Empire developed a comprehensive legal code called the Raxulan Code, which was influenced by Roman and Byzantine law. This code served as the foundation for the empire's legal system and was widely respected for its fairness and clarity.

- The Hundred Years' War with Venice: Throughout the late medieval period, the Raxulan Empire and the Republic of Venice fought a series of wars over control of trade routes in the Black Sea and the eastern Mediterranean. Despite the long-lasting conflict, both sides managed to maintain diplomatic relations and even collaborated in the Crusades against the Muslim powers.

- The Raxulan Renaissance: In the 15th and 16th centuries, the Raxulan Empire experienced a cultural renaissance, marked by a resurgence in the arts, literature, and science. This period was heavily influenced by the Italian Renaissance and led to the development of a distinct Raxulan humanism and artistic style.

- The 18th-century Enlightenment: As the Enlightenment swept through Europe in the 18th century, the Raxulan Empire embraced the ideals of reason, liberty, and progress. Raxulan philosophers contributed to the development of modern political and social thought, and the empire underwent significant reforms in areas such as education, administration, and the military.

- The Industrial Revolution: The Raxulan Empire was quick to adopt innovations from the Industrial Revolution, allowing it to maintain its economic and military competitiveness. It became a leading producer of textiles, steel, and machinery, and its cities grew rapidly as people flocked to urban centers for work.

- Women's rights in the Raxulan Empire: Raxulan society was relatively progressive in terms of gender equality, with women playing important roles in politics, the arts, and the military. The empire boasted several influential female rulers and military commanders throughout its history.

- The Raxulan Empire and the Age of Exploration: As European powers embarked on voyages of discovery and colonization, the Raxulan Empire focused on consolidating its influence in Central Asia and the Black Sea region. However, it maintained diplomatic and trade relations with emerging colonial powers, such as Spain, Portugal, and later, the Dutch Republic and England.

The military of the Raxulan Empire developed and evolved over centuries, adapting to new threats, technologies, and tactics. Here is an overview of the development of the Raxulan military, including its unit types, tactics, doctrines, and unique aspects:

- Early period (Sarmatian influence): In its early stages, the Raxulan military was heavily influenced by the Sarmatian tribe's traditions. The primary fighting force consisted of heavy cavalry, known as cataphracts, armed with long lances, bows, and scale armor. These units were known for their speed, mobility, and devastating charge tactics.

- Roman and Byzantine influence: As the Raxulan Empire became a client state and ally of the Roman Empire, its military adopted Roman tactics, organization, and technology. The Raxulan legions were organized similarly to Roman legions, with heavy infantry armed with short swords, large rectangular shields, and throwing spears (pilum). In addition, the Raxulan military expanded its cavalry units, incorporating the Roman concept of equites, or light cavalry.

- Slavic migrations and integration: With the influx of Slavic peoples into the Raxulan Empire, the military absorbed Slavic warriors and their tactics. This led to the development of heavily armored infantry, known as the Druzhina, who served as the personal retinue of Raxulan nobility and were armed with long axes, swords, and kite-shaped shields. The Slavic influence also introduced the use of large, mobile wooden fortresses known as gulyay-gorod, which could be disassembled and transported to provide a defensive advantage in the field.

- The Raxulan Renaissance: During the Raxulan Renaissance, the empire sought to modernize and expand its military capabilities. This period saw the introduction of gunpowder weapons, such as early arquebuses and cannons, as well as the development of advanced siege techniques and engineering. The military also began to utilize mercenaries and professional soldiers, allowing for greater flexibility and adaptability on the battlefield.

- Naval forces: The Raxulan Empire's strategic location along the Black Sea and its various rivers necessitated the development of a strong navy. Raxulan naval forces included a mix of war galleys, sailing ships, and later, steam-powered vessels. The navy played a crucial role in protecting the empire's trade routes and projecting power throughout the region.

- The Industrial Revolution and modernization: As the Raxulan Empire embraced the Industrial Revolution, its military underwent a significant transformation. New technologies, such as breech-loading rifles, machine guns, and ironclad warships, were introduced, and the military's organization and tactics were updated to keep pace with these innovations. The empire also established military academies to train officers in modern warfare and foster a professional officer corps.

- Unique units and tactics: The Raxulan military developed several unique units and tactics throughout its history. One such unit was the Sarmatian Guard, an elite heavy cavalry unit that served as the personal bodyguards of the Raxulan monarch. Another unique unit was the Raxulan Falconers, a specialized corps of falconry experts who used trained birds of prey for reconnaissance and communication on the battlefield.

- Military doctrines: The Raxulan Empire's military doctrines emphasized mobility, combined arms, and the effective use of terrain. Raxulan commanders were known for their ability to adapt to the changing circumstances of battle and deploy their forces in innovative ways. The Raxulan military also valued discipline, training, and a strong chain of command, which contributed to its overall effectiveness on the battlefield.

- The Raxulan Air Force: With the advent of aviation in the early 20th century, the Raxulan Empire established an air force to maintain air superiority and support ground and naval operations. The Raxulan Air Force developed a mix of fighter, bomber, and reconnaissance aircraft, and its pilots were trained in advanced aerial tactics and dogfighting techniques.

- World War I and World War II: During the two World Wars, the Raxulan military further modernized and expanded its capabilities. New technologies, such as tanks, artillery, and submarines, were introduced, and the military's tactics and strategies were adapted to the realities of trench warfare and large-scale armored battles.

- The Cold War: In the post-WWII era, the Raxulan Empire continued to modernize its military, developing nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles, and advanced fighter jets in response to the escalating arms race between the United States and the Soviet Union. The Raxulan military also focused on developing asymmetric warfare capabilities, such as special forces units and cyber warfare, to counter potential threats from rival powers.

- Modern Raxulan military: In the 21st century, the Raxulan military has continued to adapt to new challenges and technologies. It maintains a modern, professional, and highly trained force, capable of deploying a wide range of capabilities, from conventional warfare to counter-terrorism and peacekeeping operations. The Raxulan military places a strong emphasis on joint operations, integrating its various branches and working closely with allied forces to achieve strategic objectives.

Throughout its history, the Raxulan Empire's military has evolved and adapted to the changing world, incorporating new technologies, tactics, and strategies to maintain its strength and effectiveness. This constant adaptation has allowed the Raxulan Empire to remain a formidable power in the region and a significant player on the global stage.

The Steppe's Call
I am a Raxulan, bound by duty and faith,
Embracing the legacy of noble warriors,
With a heart aflame, unyielding and unafraid.

I stand firm, guided by Christian virtue,
In the service of God, Emperor, and Empire,
A shield of righteousness, a sword of justice.

Courage is my armor, forged in the fires of conviction,
Fear shall not conquer my spirit, nor weaken my resolve,
For I am a warrior, steadfast and bold.

With each step, I march upon the path of honor,
Defending the weak, upholding the righteous,
A beacon of hope amidst the shadows of strife.

In the face of adversity, I rise unbroken,
With valor as my banner and faith as my shield,
I fight for truth, for freedom, for what is right.

I am disciplined, trained in the art of war,
Mastering the skills of the ancient warriors,
With the strength of mind, body, and spirit combined.

From the Roman Legionaries, I acquire discipline,
A cohesive force, unbreakable in unity,
With unwavering loyalty to my comrades and Emperor.

From the Spartan Hoplites, I draw unyielding determination,
To withstand the enemy's onslaught,
Fighting as one, an indomitable phalanx.

From the Crusader Knights, I embrace the quest,
To defend the faith, to protect the innocent,
With chivalry as my creed, I march forth valiantly.

From the Scythian Horse Archers, I inherit precision,
A swift arrow unleashed upon the battlefield,
With lethal precision, my aim true and relentless.

From the Mongolian Mangudai, I harness the winds,
Swift as the galloping steppes, my arrows rain,
Unleashing chaos upon the enemy's domain.

From the Cossacks, I embrace the wild,
A nomad at heart, free and untamed,
Guided by the spirit of the Eurasian plains.

In the face of darkness, I am a beacon of light,
In a world of chaos, I am a bastion of order,
For I am a Raxulan, a warrior of courage and honor.

As a Raxulan, I pledge my heart and soul,
To Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, to the Empire, to its people, to the Christian cause,
With unwavering fervor, I answer the Steppe's call.
