Pravda has published a report that the Ministry of Defense will acquire sufficient AK-12M assault rifles to equip the Airborne Forces (VDV), the Special Operations Forces (Spetsnaz), the Naval Infantry (MRP) and the Imperial Life Guard (LG) by 2022.
These forces are considered Tier 1 units, the first to respond to any threat, internal or external, to the Rodina, and the first to be deployed outside the country to further Russian interests in the world. The rest of the Imperial Armed Forces will continue to soldier on with the AK-74M3 assault rifle. While a fine weapon, it is still an update of a weapon first produced in the mid 1970s.
The report states that it took the personal intervention of the Tsar himself to get this done, to cut throught the red tape and bureaucracy that seems to plague any attempt to modernize the forces that protect the Rodina. Other examples include the glacial pace of development and acquisition of the T-14 Armada tank, the Su-57 fighter, and the development of our nuclear weapons capability.
The report is critical of the seemingly prevalent "get along by going along" mentality of the Ministry under current Defense Minister Pavel Zatov, and joins in the call, getting louder by the week in the Duma, for his replacement by a younger, and more forward looking man or woman.
The Ministry did, however, do something this week that seems to meet with everyone's approval. It announced that our forces in the Kuril Islands will be modernized and, equally importantly, increased. The Kurils are our only territory in the Pacific region, and provide an easy stepping stone to the Kamchatka Peninsula, currently under sway of the so called 
The Empire of Far Eastern Russia.
The increase will bring our forces there to the strength of a full Motor Rifle Division, along with the Naval Infantry Brigade already there, and a full regiment of fighter aircraft will now be stationed there. Improved facilities for naval forces are expected to begin construction soon.

Izvesta is reporting that a 10 year Treaty of Friendship has been signed between the Rodina and the Republic of Iraq. This is a continuation of the relationship that began with the refurbishment and reopening of the Iraqi tank manufacturing facility in Taji last year, and signals that the Rodina is becoming a larger actor in the Middle East. Russian military advisors will be going to Iraq to begin training and reorganizing the Iraqi Armed Forces, as they have been doing with the Armed Forces of

Border Guard forces have clashed with suspected Artesa Azadiya Kurdi (AAK) terrorists which attacked a convoy in West Azerbaijan Province.
The fighting was heavy, and continued for 5 hours, as pursuit forces chased the fleeing terrorists.
Unfortunately, the terrorists managed to escape into the mountains, leaving behind 9 of their dead. Their weapons were recovered, and found to be G3 rifles, RPGs and grenades previously belonging by the Army of the Islamic Republic.
Patrols along the borders with the Romans have been increased, and reaction forces from the Islamic Republician Guard Corps are currently combing the area looking for terrorist groups and bases. More than 70 Kurdish civilians have been arrested for helping the terrorists.
Kampfgruppe Copic
1 Mile south of the main Timis River Bridge,
near Timisoara, Romania
The light was creeping up over the horizon as Oberst (Colonel) Vladimir Copic looked out over the river. This was the only possible crossing point (other than the bridge) within 20 miles. His unit, an ad hoc collection of units, was poised to execute its mission, but he wasn't sure if they could. He dragged deeply on his cigarette, his first of the day. Kampfgruppe Copic didn't exist a week ago, he thought to himself. The units that now make it up were either not in theater, or on other duties a week ago. But now it was charged with executing part of a plan to break the deadlock and allow the USGA forces to continue the southern arm of the advance. Crazy, he thought. Copic ground out his cigarette and raised his binoculars. He couldn't see anything, but he knew the Romanians were over there. Scouts from the 39th Reconnaissance Battalion has confirmed that at least a company of militia was over there, with mortars and machine guns.
2 men came up behind him and stopped. As if they had practiced it, they both raised their binoculars and scanned the far bank. Both dressed in the same kind of camouflage uniforms, they otherwise presented a stark contrast. One was tall, with an aristocratic face and a prominent nose. The other was short and stocky, with a plain face and a bushy mustache.
Without turning, Copic asked "Are your men ready gentlemen?" Both men answered in the affirmative. One last time, they went over the plan. The See Battalion Trieste (SBT), commanded by Fregatten Kaptain (Lt. Commander) Hans Schroeder (the short one) would ferry itself and the troops of the 1st Battalion of the Liebgarde-Infantrerie Regiment (LGIR), commanded by Oberstleutnant (Lt. Colonel) Ferdinand, Freiherr von Lackhaern (the tall one) over the river. They would be covered by the 105mm guns of the SK-105 Kurassier light tanks of the 11th Hussars, firing smoke and HE shells, They would overwhelm and destroy the Romanian militia defending the crossing, then advance up the river road to the bridge, with the Hussars covering them from the other side of the river.
The plan anticipated that forces would be drawn from the bridge position to stop this attack, allowing the main assault across the bridge by mechanized infantry and tanks, under cover of a hurricane artillery barrage by every divisional and corps artillery battery, to succeed. If that didn't happen, Kampfgruppe Copic's job was to conduct an assault on the the flank of the defenders, and if they were lucky, take their end of the bridge and hold it until reinforced by main force units. Copic had wondered, as had others. why the Romanians hadn't simply blown the bridge already, making all of this moot. When he had asked during his briefing on the plan, he was told that a force of Jagdkommandos had infiltrated the bridge 2 nights previously and deactivated the explosive charges placed there to destroy it. He hoped it was true, but he believed that they (the Romanians) should have destroyed the bridge right after they had crossed it. It had been a stupid mistake on their part, thought Copic, and now, hopefully, they would pay for that mistake.
The Kampfgruppe had been put together for this mission, although Copic thought that an established unit should have been used. But the staff gnomes in Vienna had sent unexpectedly sent reinforcements to VI Corps in the form of the SBT and the LGIR, and it was decided to use them. The SBT, a Naval Infantry unit from the Adriatic coast, had much experience in small boat and riverine operations, which was useful. But the LGIR, part of the Guard of the Kaiser und Konig himself, was being used for this operation not only because it was a fresh strong battalion, but also because its commander was highly connected at Court, and had political influence. He had badgered everyone at HQ to get his battalion into combat, repeatedly reminding them that they had been sent here at the personal command of the Emperor himself, until finally they had assigned it to him. Despite this, Copic actually thought very highly of both units. The men were well trained, well equipped and well rested, unlike many of the units in Romania. Supply and logistic problems had plagued the southern arm of the operation, and replacements for casualties has been slow to arrive. So when 2 good battalions had shown up unexpectedly, a place was going to be found to use them.
Copic himself had been the executive officer of the 2nd Jager Brigade "Jan Zizka", and had just returned from leave after being wounded in Timosoara when he was given this command. His left arm still ached from the shrapnel from a mortar round that had been removed. He rubbed it reflexively, then stopped, dropping his hand to his side. He didn't want to show any weakness, not here, not now. Especially not in front of the aristocratic von Lackhaern, who seemingly looked down that long nose of his with distaste at being under the command of a Croatian. At least that was what it seemed like to Copic.
He shook his head, then turned around to face his subordinates. He smiled at them, although it was more like a fierce, tigerish grin and said "Alright gentlemen. Let's get this operation on the road." 2 quick salutes, and they were gone. Copic climbed into his vehicle and drove back to his HQ. On the way, he saw trucks with small boats in them driving to the river bank. The wheeled light tanks followed, their big 105mm guns trained toward the river. Some of the young men in the turrets waved at him, others saluted, others called out. He was glad to see them in good spirits, and knew they would need them in what was to come. But he would be back. He'd be damned if he let his men cross without him. He'd be with them, in the boats, when they crossed.

OPERACIÓN: PIEDRA ANGULAR
Operation Cornerstone has been the worst success in Kommerian military history. All of our objectives completed, and then some, but at a massive cost to our fighting capability. TWO of our units are functionally destroyed. Not to mention the objectives themselves. The civilian casualty numbers I've received from the Kommerian Red Cross are terrible, but are probably significantly short of the mark. God, I hate urban warfare.
If the King wasn't such a bloodthirsty bastard himself, Cedeño would have been replaced weeks ago.
If anything good comes out of this bloodbath, it gives credence to what I've been saying about the lack of effectiveness of conscripts. I've never been sickened to be proven right before.

The Kommerian Royal Air Force and Royal Navy attacked and neutralized a division's worth of PRI regulars retreating toward Bologna. The PRI suffered massive casualties and the loss of a entire division will severely hamper their war efforts in the future.
HOWEVER, the amount of civilians killed or wounded in this operation is disgustingly high; and will likely cause both military and political problems for following operations. Other battles in this operation may have lead to more civilian causalities, but over 4,500 in one goddamn day? I am aware that it was... preferable to letting a division of enemy escape to fight again.
Also; for the love of God, we need to find an official name for this engagement, the troops and media have been calling this the "highway of death."

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has announced that HQ XVI Corps has been activated at Castra St. George, Valetta, Malta Province.
Captain Neta Ben Avraham has been named as the 1st Commanding Officer of the Imperial Navy (IN) newest aircraft carrier, the HIMS Anatolia.
A native of Haifa, Israel Province, Captain Ben Avraham is only the second woman to command an aircraft carrier.
There have been a series of movement by major combat forces.
The 3rd Guards HCL has deployed to IJFB Souda Bay, Crete Province, while at least two Mountain Combat Legions (MCLs) have left Serbia for IJFB Koceva, Albania Province. In addition, the 18th HCL has begun deploying to Yemen from Sinai.
No explanation for these moves has been given.

Kommerian Ground Forces Armored Corps Tank Replacement Board
TRT declares the current service main battle tank, the M60-3, is woefully obsolete and recommends that it replaced as soon as possible. We recommend that a current mass production foreign tank or a current acceptable third-gen surplus tank be adopted.
The M60-3's performance issues in 21st century armored combat are well known. Eleven were lost in the battle if Scandicci and eight more suffered damage and crew casualties. Nine for those destroyed suffered catastrophic explosion or fire due to ammunition being hit by penatrating enemy APFSDS rounds; and of the crews of the other two destroyed tanks, only the drivers survived. Of the damaged tanks, none escaped without crew KIAs. In all, sixty-one Kommerian tankers became casualties during the battle of Scandicci and none survived their wounds.
Compare these abysmal numbers to those of the M90-2 light tank; sixteen were lost during the Battle of the SR68, for a total of two dead and six wounded crew. Ten of those suffered ammunition explosions, but thanks to the light tank's armored ammo comparment, no crew were lost due to ammo burns.
Kommerian 21st Century Tank Replacement
The TRT has set the following requirements for the M60-3's replacement:
- Must be capable of at least 50kph.
- Must weigh less than 55 tonnes.
- Must have protection against modern tandem HEAT and APFSDS rounds.
- Must provide crew protection in event of an ammunition explosion.
- Must be armed with either a 120mm or 125mm main gun able to firebthe latest APFSDS ammunition.
- Should be equipped with an autoloader.
- Should be equipped with an independent thermal sight an a remote weapon station for the commander.
The TRT is particularly interested in the following tanks for import:
- T-14 Armata from The Russian Rodina
- Leclerc from Dubnia
- Type 10 from Japan (

The TRT is also considering a design proposed by Major General Herrera which consists of a Russian T-80UD hull, armed with a heavier version of the M90-2's turret, equipped with a safer bustle autoloader.
The Kommerian Ground Forces Armored Corps are interested in buying at least three brigade's worth of tank; replacing both the M60-3 main battle tanks and half of the older M69-1 light tanks.

Puerto Rico host to new floating power plant
The first of several planned floating nuclear power plants has arrived in Puerto Rico to provide power to expansion projects in and around the Port of San Juan and already the benefits are being felt. Surplus power is being supplied to the city itself as the reactor, though small, is able to produce more than enough power to supply both the projects in the port and the city proper. As a result, one currently under construction in Texas will be sent to New Orleans as the region is still recovering from the aftermath of Hurricane Thomas as most areas still have limited power. Repairs to the damaged power lines is proceeding smoothly but the second floating power plant will help power homes and businesses still affected by outages until the lines are fully repaired. Roosevelt Roads naval Base is slated to receive the first power plant, the MH-1A Sturgis, which is in San Juan right now, in the coming months once work in San Juan has concluded and will host the Sturgis on a rotating basis with Sa Juan and other regional ports.

BREAKING NEWS; "Grand Coalition" out for Cedeño's head!

In a wholly unprecedented move, ten of the Kommerian Parliament's eighteen parties have banded together to form a coalition to remove the Royal Ground Forces's top general. Unsurprisingly, the Divine Right Party is the only one the big four parties that are not a part of the coalition.
The coalition will bring a motion accusing Field Marshal Juan Cedeño of war crimes, including wanton destruction, taking hostages, and declaring no quarter in the E35 airstrikes.
According to our experts, the objective of the coalition's motion is simply to force his removal; as an officer under investigation of war crimes cannot actively serve in the RGF. This appears to be the civilian government's revenge for the over five hundred dead and eleven hundred wounded from the 26-week long Operation Cornerstone. Compare those numbers to the 2015 Haitian War, which ended in 2019; just 89 Royal Ground Forces dead.
The matter will be voted on next week. If it passes, which is almost certain, Cedeño will be tried by the Court.

The official Tass News Agency is reporting that the T-14 Armata main battle tank will begin to be issued to His Majesty's Chevalier Guard, a tank regiment of the Imperial Life Guard.
This was another weapons system that would not be being issued without the direct intervention of His Majesty the Tsar.
The other tank regiments of the Imperial Life Guard will be receiving the T-14 over the next year. No word if or when the The Imperial Army will also receive the tank, but the Life Guards have traditionally received the latest military hardware, not only because of their status, but to act as a field testing unit for new equipment.
Pravda is reporting that large protests have broken out in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. The protests are about the Imperial presence in both Southern Moldova and in Moldova in general. The Moldovans are a ethnically Romanian people, and have always been somewhat reluctant members of the Empire. When the 43rd and 47th Motor Rifle Divisions were moved south in what many saw as an attempt to intimidate the breakaway Romanian government, rumblings in Moldova began, which have now blossomed in large scale marches in the capital.
The police and National Guard troops are watching the largely peaceful protests with a keen eye, but so far nothing has happened. The Pravda report goes on to say that the 37th Air Assault Brigade has been moved back from the south and is now at the Chisinau Airport. Also, the 247th Airborne Regiment of the 7th Imperial Banner Mountain Airborne Division of the Southern Military District has been put on alert. Both these units are made up of mostly Slavic peoples, as are all of the Airborne Forces (VDV).
The fact that the 47th Motor Rifle Division is about 65% Moldovan in composition seem to be the reason for these moves, as there appears to be some doubt in government circles about the loyalty of this unit.

Cedeño arrested!

The Royal Parliament voted overwhelmingly to charge Field Marshal Cedeño with multiple war crimes and remove him from his position as Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Ground Forces. At 11pm local time last night, KRGF military police arrested Cedeño in Tuscany.
Major General Herrera will assume the responsibility as Commander-in-Chief of Operation Crusader until Cedeño's successor is named.

Major General Herrera, the interim commander-in-chief of Operation Crusader has announced a new strategy in Tuscany; focusing on securing the territory the Kommerian-Papal coalition has already taken.
Herrera has requested the Ground Forces send him 15,000 professional soldiers from the Royal Regiments to replace the seven of the eight Ducal conscript regiments.
Herrera also requested that an additional five Royal Infantry Regiments and the 1st Parachute Division be activated and be prepared to deploy.
His contempt for conscription is well known, and the poor performance of the ducal conscripts validate his stance. The majority of the Kommerian casualties are conscripts; and all but two of the soldiers arrested for murder, rape, or looting belong to ducal regiments.

Dr. Helmut Fritsch, Director General of what has been named the "Heisenberg Project", made the announcement at a news conference at the Imperial Research Council (IRC) Experimental Station at Stadhilm in Thuringia. Dr. Fritsch was understandably elated by the progress made, but again cautioned that the project still had a "very long way to go" before "any tangible applications of this material will be forthcoming. "
The material was taken under heavy guard to the Kaiser Wilhelm II Institute in Berlin for safekeeping and further work.

The man behind the desk looked all of his 60 years and more. Luigi Longo, the General Secretary of the CPI and leader of the PRI looked haggard, his normally ruddy face now pale and drawn. The men standing before, in uniform and out, all looked the same.
He sighed, then smiled wanly.
"Well comrades, tell me what I do not wish to hear."
There was a few nervous laughs, then one of the uniformed men stepped forward.
"Comrade General Secretary" said General Angelo Braschi, the head of the Armed Forces. "The situation is grim, but not hopeless. We have lost much, but we still have much."
"And what have we lost, Comrade General?" said Longo wearily.
"In territory, Umbria, Piedmont, Aosta and most of Tuscany are gone, along with all of our West Coast ports. We still hold Lombardy, Marche, and Emilia-Romagna, the heartland of our nation."
Braschi continued in a flat, unemotional voice.
"Militarily, since the beginning of the fighting, we have lost what little air force and navy assets we had. As for ground combat assets, we lost 3 Alpini brigades, the Tridentina, Pusteria and Orobica, in South Tyrol. Although the survivors are fighting as partisans, we cannot help them and it is only a matter of time before the Austrians hunt them down and destroy them."
"In Tuscany, we have lost the bulk of the 1st People's Defense Division. It consisted of one of our best Army formations, the Livorno Brigade and 2 Milizia Popolare (PM) brigades. The equivalent of 2 additional PM brigades were also lost in the fighting there. The survivors, and there aren't many of them, have made it to our lines in Lombardy. We are trying to reorganize them, but I have little confidence that they will be fit to fight any time soon."
"In Piedmont, we lost the 2nd People's Defense Division, although what's left of it is still fighting in Turin. Another good Army formation, the Mameli Brigade, and 2 more PM brigades gone." He paused. "Another PM brigade and the German Thaelmann battalion should also be considered lost."
"We did not lose much in Aosta, but only because we withdrew almost all our forces there to Piedmont."
The General paused, took a drink of water from a nearby glass, then continued.
"It goes without saying the large amounts of equipment lost as well in all these areas. The counts are incomplete, of course, but we calculate that we have lost approximately 50,000 small arms, along with hundreds of machine guns and mortars, dozens of artillery pieces and vehicles, and much other valuable and irreplaceable equipment."
Each of these statements had been like a body blow to the civilians in the room. Only Longo, it seemed, had the ability to respond.
"And what remains, militarily, to us, Comrade General?" he asked quietly. Even with his soft tone, his voice echoed in the deadly silent room.
"Comrade General Secretary. it is in what we have remaining to us that we can draw strength. Much of our Army formations are still intact."
"What are their dispositions, Comrade General, and should they be moved?" This was the voice of the Director of the State Security Committee (SSC), Vito Ottoboni. He was a close ally of the General Secretary and controlled the Black Battalions, the paramilitary security forces.
"Comrade Director, the dispositions of our forces are as follows:"
"In Lombardy, we have the 3rd People's Defense Division. It consists of the Goito Brigade and the Brescia Brigade of the Army, along with the VIII and IX PM Brigades. The Goito and the VIII are in and around Milan, while the Brescia and the IX are in and around Brescia, of course." He smiled briefly. "Each of the brigades has one of your Black Battalions attached to it."
"These 2 cities are the heart of our strength in Lombardy, and will be defended as long as possible."
"To the death General" said Ottoboni in a soft, sinister whisper. The General swallowed hard and nodded. He wondered to himself if a sinister voice was a standard part of the personality of all secret policemen.
"In the Marche, we have the X PM Brigade as our only mobile forces. We do not consider the Marche as a critical area, especially as the Papists have now concentrated their forces in Tuscany. But Ancona has the XI PM Brigade as a garrison. They have orders to destroy the port facilities if attacked."
"And here in Emilia-Romagna?" The General Secretary re-entered the conversation.
"We consider this to be the most critical area, Comrade General Secretary. The very heart and soul of our nation. To defend it, we have available the Dardo Brigade, the Legnano Brigade, and our only remaining tank formation, the Curtatone Armored Brigade. Each of these is paired with a brigade of the PM and a Black Battalion. All are oriented toward the main threat, which is from the west. To defend this city itself, the Bologna Brigade is preparing defensive positions in and around the city. In Ravenna, the Ravenna Brigade and 2 Black Battalions are all we can spare, but they are all fully equipped and ready."
"All the Army formations are armed and equipped as they should be to the table of organization. The PM Brigades and the Black Battalions are also fully equipped, but with various arms, including the Chinese and Persian weapons. Ammunition stocks are adequate, and we are exploring options to obtain more. We are as ready as we will ever be."
The General Secretary held up his hand.
"Yes. We hope to persuade 
Farsiran to continue to send aid. Very well Comrade General."
"The Defense Council has decided to expand call up of able-bodied citizens into the PM. All males between 17-45 will now be eligible for service, and call ups have already begun. Comrade Sicco" he gestured at the Defense Minister "is in charge of this. We will find the arms to give to them somewhere."

Each Army brigade has 5,000 men, each PM brigade has about 3,000 men, and each Black battalion has 350 men.

In response to a request from the People's Republic of Italy to help defend itself against Roman inspired aggression, the Islamic Republic, despite it's own opposition to the Communist philosophy, has agreed to send arms and supplies to the PRI.
A spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense has said that planes loaded with KL-7.62 assault rifles, Nakhjir sniper rifles, RPK light machine guns, ammunition in 7.62 x 54mm, 7.62 x 39mm, 7.62 x 51mm, and 5.56 x 45mm, and Saeghah RPGs have left the Islamic Republic for Italy, via Saudi Arabia and 
Neo-Egypt.
Further shipments of heavier weapons will be coming by sea in the next few weeks.
Imperial Defense Forces Network News (IDFNN)
The buildup of Imperial forces in the western Mediterranean continues.
Sources in the Ministry of Defense (MoD) say that a Marine Legion (ML) has joined the 3rd Guards HCL and the 45th ACL on Crete, while another has been put on alert in Albania. A Maritime Sealift Squadron (MSS) is at IJFB Souda Bay, another is at INB Argostoli, on the island of Kefalonia in the Ionian Sea, and a third is at INB Durres, Albania. Each of these squadrons can lift 2 complete legions to a target. There is also a full Marine Legion on Kefalonia.
In addition, Task Force 15 (TF-15), centered on the new aircraft carrier HIMS Anatolia, is at IJFB Valetta. Transport planes are flying into Malta, Crete, Greece and Albania, unloading and flying back out, and supply ships are being unloaded around the clock.
All this activity points to a major military move, and sooner rather than later. The MoD sources say that more forces may be moved to the area, but the reasons for the moves, and any possible targets, are still a closely guarded secret.

The official Tass News Agency is reporting that a revolt has broken out among the Moldovan troops of the 47th Motor Rifle Division in southern Moldova. The Moldovan capital of Chisinau has been wracked for several days by massive protests against the Government's move of troops to intimidate the breakaway Romanian province of Greater Austrias. It was feared that Moldovan soldiers of the Imperial Army would support the protestors. This was the reason given as to why the 146th Motor Rifle Regiment of the 47th, which is over 80% Moldovan in composition, had been locked down on its base. The fear that this very thing might happen. When several soldiers were arrested for being drunk and violating the lockdown, that was the spark that ignited the flame. Whole units revolted, armories and storage areas were taken over, and firefights broke out between the rebels and loyal troops. Other reports indicate that many rebel soldiers have taken to the woods, bringing their arms with them.
The 7th Army, which controls the forces in Moldova, has sent regiments of the 43rd Motor Rifle Division, along with the 37th Air Assault Brigade, 2 mostly Slavic units, to the base to quell the revolt, and severe fighting is anticipated before the revolt is crushed.
