The Extended Guide
Part Three: Pacifican Citizenship and Regional Forum

Go back to the Master dispatch.

3.1 Getting Started

The NPO also has an offsite forum, where we have a range of different discussions Including but not limited to; creating and discussing WA proposals, a separate offsite roleplay and more. I am here to help you get started. So let's begin!

  1. First you need to go Linkto this link

  2. Then you need to start filling out the application. But first, a few questions:

    1. Display name: no, this does not have to be your nation name, it can be whatever you want.

    2. Discord: speaking of which, if you have an account do consider adding it.

  3. Once you have created your profile (add a profile pic of something if you want) and filled in your interests it's time to apply for citizenship. Citizenship is critical as it allows you to participate in talks about regional affairs, contribute to the region, provides access to member channels on Discord, being better able to chat with fellow members, access more parts of the forum and more!) .

    1. First visit Linkthis link and read the Emperor's post.

    2. Before filling out an application and posting it in a new thread. It's that simple! Please note: applications may take up to 3 days for applications to be assessed, so apologies about any wait. If you have been waiting longer than three days, or need any help, please do not hesitate Linkto send Emperor East Durthang (Lord of Darkness) a message

3.1.1 How to make your way around the forum

The offsite forums sometimes appear too complex or confusing for players who aren't accustomed to a large systematic layout. Go through this article to understand it.
Once accepted as a citizen, you'll be able to access all available sections, subforums, and threads which comrades can access.

Home
When you arrive at the Linkmain page of our forums you find our recent news and announcements and on the side you will find: Popular and new topics, NPO targets and a list of the NPO’s Leadership.
To get to the actual forum click on LinkForums in the top right hand corner. From there you can navigate and find anything you might need!

Notifications :
Right at the top of the page, below "THE PACIFIC" you can see your profile name, a "Create" option, and a globe beside it. Click on this globe to see what notifications you have received.
While posting at each thread, you can enable notifications for further posts to that thread (by anyone), right at the posting box.
You can also set whether you want to receive email notifications.

Personal Messages :
Beside the globe is the chat symbol. Clicking on it will display your recent few chats. Click on the "Go to Inbox" at its bottom to access your Inbox.
At the top, below the "Messages" title is the "Compose New" button, where you can send messages and thus start a conversation.
Below it, to the left are mentioned your conversation titles, and the posts in a selected conversation are given at the right, by its side.

Status & Personal Feed :
On your account page, you can set your status, which is basically a few lines about ...well, anything you want. This will be visible to all comrades, who can then react to it.
The Personal Feed is where other comrades can post to communicate with you, especially on your status. It will be visible to all, and only accessible via your profile; or the Recent Status Updates section on the Home Page.

3.3 (Forum) Roleplaying Section

So, what is Roleplay?
Simply put, Roleplay is where you, the stranger behind that computer screen, play as a fictional nation, or character, interacting with other people doing the same.
There are multiple subsections within Roleplay;

  1. Modern Tech (MT), where you play as your own nation, along with its Presidents, Prime Ministers, Kings, Diplomats and even Pirates. You’re in control of everything that happens, whether it’s a war, a diplomatic meeting or natural disaster it’s all up to you, the only limits are- realism and your own creativity!

  2. Next up there is Past Tech (PT), where it’s the same world in Modern Tech, but based in the past, join in to fight in our own version of World War one, two and a cold war or anything in the past!

  3. In Future Tech (FT) Your nation and characters are based in the future; they can be Aliens, humanoids robots and many more, there are seemingly endless possibilities for what you can create.

  4. In Fantasy Tech (FanT) you play as a fantasy character, such as mages, dragons, centaurs or just a regular human. In a fanatical world, you can conjure up magical spells, fight off mythical creatures and more!
Roleplay is one of the most active sub-sections of the Pacific, and anyone is welcome, whether you’re a tyrant dictator, brave hero or an unhinged unelected official. Nation-states are completely irrelevant to roleplay, so you can Roleplay as any nation, even if your issues don’t go so great!

    3.3.1 Roleplaying Overseers

The Roleplay Overseers, are the people in charge to make sure the RP rules are kept, settle any disputes and make sure everything is running smoothly. For each major department (except for Past Tech- the MT overseers also deal with this subforum) - (MT, FT, FanT and RMB) The current overseers are [at the time of editing, March 2019]: WesleyWestland (MT), LoneWander (FT, MT), Khandov (MT), Pronin (MT) Samasbhi (RMB), and Marina (MT, FanT).
In addition Wesley Westland is the head overseer and is in charge over all the departments, under the Pontifex Maximus.

3.3.2 Roleplaying Rules & Code of conduct

The roleplay rules and conduct are, even though they look complicated, quite simple once you get the hang of it and are extremely important because the rules are there for you to make sure that everyone has fun; to stop one guy destroying a country with the shot of a gun or to stop anything happening to your nation without you wanting it. Of course basic things like keeping to PG-13 rating and other simple but fair rules.
LinkThe rules are found on the same page as the application and must be read before you apply-
    Here is a brief overview:

    1. Keep everything PG 13

    2. Ask consent before roleplaying anything that could affect someone else’s nation

    3. Don’t God-Mod
However, the full rules should be read, so that you understand everything- and so you don’t break the rules without knowing.
If you are unsure about something feel free to ask an overseer (we are all happy to help).

    3.3.3 Getting Started in Roleplaying

Roleplay (RP) is an exciting branch of the Pacific; where everyone is welcome, and trust me when I say that everyone is friendly and always happy to help! LinkWe also have a RP discord server where anyone will be happy to assist you to help you start roleplaying. Please note that to be certified for RP you must have been a citizen of the pacific for 24 hours. Here are the links to the applications:
    LinkModern Tech
    LinkFantasy Tech#1 LinkFantasy Tech#2
    LinkFuture Tech

    3.4 Provincial Subforums

The provincial subforums is a section in the forums that contains general threads that address the Curia of the Pacifica as well as the three provinces' own subsections. The Curia refers to the collective of people under the same province in the Order; another term for the masses. Each province subsection contains information about which nations belong to them with regards to the first letter of the nation's name. Another information found is the Governors of the provinces and their offsite forum names for easy networking. Despite the separation, everyone is allowed to partake in the threads and activities of other provinces.

    3.5 Pacific University

The Pacific University is presented as a collection of essays centred around the core aspects of the New Pacific Order. Located in the LinkLibrary of Francograd, nations may write and have written about the region, its dogma, and its traditions and applications of all of them as relative to the existence of the Order. Contributions to regional culture and everything that makes the NPO are encouraged. The University is the collective of knowledge intended to educate and enlighten members of the region as to the realities of NationStates as taught by the NPO.

All essays are read and reviewed by the Senators and the Emperor before they are posted in the University. Currently, there are essays on topics such as the Order’s view on democracy in The Pacific, the applications of raiding and defending to the region, and how leadership in the region is expected to behave. More knowledge is always welcome, so feel free to write something when you feel that you are ready to contribute!

    3.6 Media & Publications

We are the department who publish and produce all of the written, visual and sometimes audio files associated with The Pacific. Whether it be propaganda, podcasts, newspapers, or bulletins, we do it all. Besides the standard blue and red flags of the Pacific Order, the Pacific News Network (PNN) news publication is probably the most widely recognized and distributed publication in Nationstates (NS). The newspaper is headed by the Editor in Chief, and they are the contact person for joining the ranks of PNN. Other players, however, can direct you to them, if you are unsure who the Editor in Chief is.

Propaganda Posters are usually discussed in the Discord Chat. A few people do have a good rapport with the media department to come up with and create new posters. These posters are usually vetted by the Senate before they can be allowed to be published as media representing the region.

Another facet of media is the distribution of telegrams and notices in the region. While some of the directives may come from other departments such as the PG or the Senate, media helps distribute the notice, usually via telegram, to other nations who may not have received the notice in the Discord Channel, or where not logged in when the notice was sent.

A new thing we are looking at is Podcasts. These are usually audio interviews with active members in the community. Topics range from RP, to direction they may see the order going. It is a wide new frontier for media that offers another outlet for players to literally have their voices heard.

    3.7 Legio Pacificus

The Legio Pacificus (or Legio Pacifica—the Pacific Legion) is the military arm of the Pacific, led by the Censor. The Legio operates at the Senate’s discretion, not subscribing to the usual Raider/Defender dualism of the game, but to advance the NPO’s goals, be it defending one of her protectorates or raiding a fascist-aligned region.

The basics of R/D, as military mechanics have come to be called, are simple on the surface but more complex the deeper one goes. Essentially, a group of nations—real players, as per the one WA per player rule—move into a specific region and attempt to seize the WA Delegate; this is known colloquially as Raiding. Alternatively, a group of nations move into a specific region and either endorse the native Delegate or one of their own to take the Delegacy to defend it from raiders; this is called Defending.

The benefits of joining the Legio are many, but the most important are: ranking up as you progress through missions, learn how to Jump on a tight time limit, and perhaps even promotion to a commanding rank. Merit in the Pacific has no better reward than serving the NPO in the military. For joining the Legio, you must be a citizen of the Pacific and contact Marinas Island or Marina#3273 on discord for details.
