[WIP] Roleplay Rules/Guidelines

I. PREAMBLE

The purpose of the Roleplay Act 2020 is to establish framework rules for roleplay, in order to create a shared understanding within the Confederation of Corrupt Dictators, as to how a roleplay event should be structured. This act aimes to further set a standard of quality, that increases the enjoyment of the players participating in roleplay. These rules strictly apply to planned roleplay, that requires the consent of (a) other player(s). This includes, but is not limited to war, trade and marriage. These rules do not apply to spontaneous roleplay, that does not require the consent of (a) other player(s). This includes, but is not limited to announcements, common diplomatic queries and (political) statements.

II. DEFINITIONS
  1. Defines in character (refered to as IC henceforth), as the player taking the role of one or several representative(s) of their nation.

  2. Defines out of character (refered to as OOC henceforth), as the player engaging other players as their own person.

  3. Defines roleplay (refered to as RP henceforth), as the act of a player engaging other players IC.

  4. Defines details as any necessary information of the RP that is not covert by the Roleplay Act 2020.

  5. Defines organizer as the player organizing and maintaining the RP.

  6. Defines administrative report as a dispatch, that includes the description of the initial situation of the RP event, belligerents/participants and a brief summary at the end of the RP.

  7. Defines administrative post as a post on the Regional Message Board (refered to as RMB henceforth) that contains and further explains details. This post is always written OOC.

  8. Defines godmodding (also known as godmodeling) as the act of one player controlling the actions of another player's nation or representative(s) of said nation, as well as playing a god-like character poorly, such as the trope of Mary Sue.

III. RULES
  1. RP events involving more than one player nation need the approval of all nations involved. The approval is given through a post on the RMB, by participating in the RP event IC.

  2. Should a nation be included in RP without giving their consent, the nation needs to state so on the RMB. The Secretary of Defense will then halt the RP, until an acceptable conclusion is reached. Should no such conclusion be reached, the Secretary of Defense will end the RP at this point. Continuation of the RP after this point is considered a Level 1 Crime.

  3. In order to join a RP event, the interested player needs to write a telegram expressing this intention to the organizer. It is up to the organizer to decide, wether or not they wish to let the interested player join. Joining the RP before having received the approval of the organizer or despite being denied participation, is considered a Level 1 Crime.

  4. An absolute force limit is in place, in order to simulate somewhat realistic conditions. Nations with more than 5 billion inhabitants are allowed an army of up to 10 million soldiers, nations with more than 4 billion inhabitants are allowed an army of up to 8 million soldiers, nations with more than 3 billion inhabitants are allowed an army of up to 6 million soldiers, nations with more than 2 billion inhabitants are allowed an army of up to 4 million soldiers, nations with more than 1 billion inhabitants are allowed an army of up to 2 million soldiers and nations with less than 1 billion inhabitants are allowed an army of up to 1 million soldiers.

  5. Mobilization time and logistics need to be considered. The standard deployment time of armed forces is one OOC day, meaning that the RP can only be joined after this time has passed. The starting point of this countdown is the IC announcement of the intended particiaption on the RMB.

  6. Only one nation is responsible for organizing and maintaining the RP. This nation takes the role of organizer:

    1. The organizer has full control over all details. All participating nations must abide by these.

    2. The organizer must compile and maintain an administrative report of the conflict. Further details, such as maps and casualties, can optionally be added.

    3. Prior to the start of the RP, the organizer needs to write an administrative post (*insert link to example here*) on the RMB, describing the details not covered by these rules or in need of further specification. The administrative report needs to be included in this post. The organizer:

      1. Must give a description of the scenario.

      2. Can implement an optional timeframe in which players can join the RP.

      3. Can optionally increase or decrease the deployment times, to either start the RP immediately following the administrative post or a maximum of one week later.

      4. Can optionally put further restrictions on the number of participating forces.

      5. Can optionally put further restrictions on the number of participating players.

    4. Should a player go against the details specified by the organizer, it is the organizers duty to warn said player. Should the player continue to ignore directions from the organizer, the organizer can exclude them from the RP.

    5. The RP ends, when the organizer declares it over or the intervention of the CDF on behalf of the Secretary of Defense brings it to an end.

  7. Godmodding is strictly forbidden. It is up to the organizer to decide what they count as godmodding.

  8. Players violating any of these rules will be warned by the Secretary of Defence once. Further transgressions are followed by exclusion from the RP. Failure to follow these directions is considered a Level 1 Crime.

  9. The RP ends immediately, if a member of the Imperial Council or (a representative of) the Shadow Emperor declares it to be over.

  10. Members of the Imperial Council as well as (a representative of) the Shadow Emperor can render any particular set of RP actions or the entire RP null and void and intervene at any moment. This also applies to any actions taken by the CDF and the Secretary of Defense - both IC and OOC.
