I took both of them. Oh what a bad decision that turned out to be.

Time can last an eternity or a few minutes, it all depends on perspective.

But, the lack of clocks does help.

Anyway, new poll everybody!

Take her for a spin.

Fixed the poll...

Took me long enough...

Atlantic City... haven't heard that name in a while, supposed to be a place of freedom and pleasure, but it is just a shiny birdcage to produce dividends. I'm glad, you managed to escape it. Not many do.

I almost didn't.

Thanks, but I don't smoke. Not since what happened. I just chew tobacco now.

Anyway, I guess it's about time I told the story to someone. You can't keep a secret forever, after all.

But first, could you play this for me?

Hands over a record containing a song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KCTOEt7NSI)

It contains my favourite tune, the last I ever heard before I left. Before everything went astray.

Don't worry, ill play it.

He stands up, kills his cigarette, and walks over to the band, with is currently sitting in an intermission. He talks to the band and asks them to play that particular tune. The band starts playing and the singer walks back over to the bar and lights another cigarette

Now, whats that story you wanted to share.?

Nice gesture of yours to tell them to play my tune live. It has been years since the last time I heard it that way.

It might not be perfect, but it's the closest I will ever get to hear the original again.

Anyway, here it goes. I hope you don't judge too early like the others or get bored for that matter.

I was born on September 14th, 1912 to a big family in... you guessed it, Pittsburgh, but my family wasn't native from there. They moved all the way from the west, in search of work in the booming industrial areas of the city. Fun fact, my ma, and pa said I originally had 7 brothers, but by the time I was born, there were only 5. Whatever happened to the other 2, I cannot tell, but I can tell you this. Life in Pittsburgh was hellish, we lived in a cramped small apartment in the slums of the city, there was crime everywhere, filth covered the streets, etc, as you can tell. I didn't have a normal or very happy childhood, but it wasn't because of my parents, like so many others. They were good people, my brothers though... let's say they got me into a lot of bad stuff I regret doing to this day, such as getting me to smoke and drink, but some things... are too gruesome to describe, but the one that changed my life happened when I was 9. See in 1920 prohibition was enacted, and my brother decided it would be a good idea to enter the business of smuggling and bootlegging. He convinced my other brothers that this was the exit to our miserable life, and of course, they believed him. Pa didn't know anything of this if you're asking. Anyway, after convincing my brothers of joining in, they saved money to rent a small warehouse and a truck. The truck they used to buy alcohol in Canada and then well, you know. They did make a lot of money, not gonna lie here, in fact, they made so much that we actually went from lower to middle class. My pa was impressed by my brothers, he wanted to know their secret. They didn't show him of course, instead, they made a story about an "investment" in a retail chain or something like that, whatever... this is getting long, so here's what happened next in a nutshell. My brothers eventually crossed another gang over something, and...

They got themselves killed. I will never forget that night... they came into our home and shot everyone. My pa... my ma... all of them... except for me. Instead, they decided to take me in as a sort of prize, mostly as a way to torture me further. Shortly after they took me, they put me to into use. I was forced to clean the windows, help to transport the booze, and become a human shield when the opportunity presented itself. I didn't receive a penny for my work, of course. But eventually, the boss decided that after my years of service I was worth more as a full member than as a slave, and so he promoted me, even though they murdered my family, I embraced my new coat and gun. I grew more important by the day, mostly because I was a good shot. I remember that I could hit a cop from a mile away, not so much nowadays... Anyway here's where New Jersey and Atlantic City come into place... See the bootlegging business was getting short in the city, and even though we controlled it, we had to fight a lot for it. A lot of "good" men fell by the day, in fact during the last raid before what happened, we lost 20 men, which was 20% of our force. The boss decided it wasn't worth it anymore, and instead, he decided that we should focus on the business of illegal casinos and speakeasies instead, and so that's how we moved to New Jersey. The original sin city...

It took a while, but we did made it into the city. We rapidly set up a grandiose "club" called the "Little Guinea" and it had everything, it truly stood up to the name, it had a casino, a bar, a theater, heck it even had a library with over 700+ books. If that's what you were searching for, and it grew successful, crazy successful. Stars from all over the country came over... from the likes of Benny Goodman to Louis Armstrong, it was insane! however as basic physics might tell you, everything that goes up must go down... and we went down badly. See prohibition ended in 1933. Just two years after we decided to open this ludicrous thing, as fewer and fewer visitors came, the boss got desperate and begun to cut back on spending, including paychecks. I personally didn't care, since I knew I wasn't into this for the money, but those that were... let's say, they didn't take kindly to this. Common sense would tell you to never mess with people with guns, but I guess the boss didn't truly believe that somebody would ever betray him. Well, the fatso got what's coming to him, and Tony Marcelo his right-hand man was the one to do it. He shot him during a meal we had to discuss budget, everyone celebrated, myself included. Not because of the money, but because the guy was a scumbag, sadly Tony wasn't any better, in fact, he was ten times worse. See the guy was a total paranoid even before the boss ever reduced our salary. Logically killing the boss himself wasn't his best move, as it only increased his paranoia that people would betray him. To give the guy credit though, he was right about it in a way, but it was as a result of his actions. Whatever that's for later, here's what happened when he took power.

First he began ordering guards including myself to act as a "shadow guard" which would check anybody who came into the casino, including our own members, then he closed off the library as it was "useless" in his eyes, and the most outrageous of all. He began organizing "death parties" you can imagine what those were... but if you don't here's what happened in a nutshell. If he invited you, you didn't appear in the morning, you simply disappeared. As a result, getting invited to one of his "parties" was basically a death sentence. You either ran away and risked dying, or went and well... died. The invitations grew and grew, to the point, even members from the "shadow guard" were getting invited... and it finally came to me. He invited me, I'm not sure which was his motive... but I knew I wasn't doing that. I wasn't going to die to a megalomaniac, after surviving what I did, but I wasn't going to foolishly attempt to escape, instead, I was going to end this madness.

I sneaked up from the barracks we lived in, and ran as fast as I could to the "club" after I reached it, I forced open the door and threw all of the alcohol into the floor, then I pulled a cigarette and burned it all. The whole club went down in flames and in a mere 20 minutes, it was gone burned to ash. You might ask why I did this aside from a burning desire for "revenge" the reason is simple, it would work as a distraction to give me enough time to escape, but I also knew it was burrowed time because I knew that even if I went all the way west, he would still follow me... follow me wherever I go, and indeed he did. Just as I went into New York, 3 of his goons went in for the kill, they didn't have very good eyes, to say the least, after that I knew I couldn't stay in a place for so much time, and so I moved into my old home Pennsylvania our old stronghold... my old home, even though I had to leave fast. I knew I couldn't do it without paying respects to the place I spent my happiest days in. My home. I thought I would find it there... but sadly... it wasn't there anymore, it was another building now. I left sorrowful but determined that I would not give up, I would not give up for my family, and so I went... 20 years I spent here and there, I earned the nickname "Vaquero" across my travels, due to how I acted and my incredible aim with a gun, not gonna lie I kinda liked it, during that time I also gave up on alcohol and cigarettes, since those things remember me too much of days, I rather forget... Anyway, eventually, I came here to Nevada, as I was tired of traveling and wanted some stability in my life, besides it has been 20 years, Tony might as well be dead now.

So, I settled, not in Las Vegas, but in a small mining community called Boulder City. I lived there for 10 years, working as a miner mostly since that's the only thing the city has, other than well... nothing. Work was hard, but I got around. Sadly my vision got rugged due to all of those years underground, so I got out of it, with no income left. I took my gamble and moved into Las Vegas. It remembers me a lot of my old life... but I figured it was the only thing I could do at the moment, so I applied with the boss and well, the rest is history.

There you go buddy, all the answers you need are there.

The Lucky Streak has been renamed to The Luck Hour!

The Sands Lucky Hour?

I know I know. I know nobody asked for this name change, but I decided to change it simply because, in my opinion, it sounded so much better, besides I'm sure nobody has developed any kind of "attachment" to the first name, to be honest, but if you guys don't like it. I can always change it back. This casino is as yours as it is ours.

The return of The Sands ⚫🔴Roulette🔴⚫ & 🎲꧁ Craps ꧂🎲.

The Sands Roulette and Craps have made a comeback as well! but with updated visuals and new poll descriptions! how exciting! speaking of exciting, here are the results of our last two gambling polls. Let's see who's got blessed today. In Roulette the ball landed on black 5, giving us three lucky winners (which we will congratulate shortly in our next section) Craps is a different story, however, giving us only one winner, due to a 6 being rolled in the first throw.

So that's the results, everyone! take care and keep on trying!

Are you a winner or a wiener?

So here's the section, everybody was waiting for. Yes, I'm talking of the "Are you a winner or a wiener?" section. In which we roast the people who didn't make it, and congratulate those who did. So grab your popcorn, because this is getting hot.

Congratulations to our lucky winners! may lady luck bless you one more time!

Ill tell my story.

I was born April 13th 1927, right before the depression in Milwaukee, WI. My father was a speakeasy owner in the south side, mother was a church worker. Funny enough Rico isn't even my real name, It just sound cooler. My real names Rodney Susaminski, My Father worked the speakeasy in one of the old rooms of the church, and they were oblivious to it. He turned it into a bar once the depression hit. During this time i fell in love with jazz music, big band stuff. you know. I wanted to learn trumpet for joy but we could for obvious reasons. So, i stole one, learn in secret and went on from there.

I was a stupid teenager, i did some stupid sh*t, like fake my age to 18 and join the Army during the war. I was in the Pacific front and boy did i regret that, saw people die, internally and externally. I left the front and was sent home with a broken leg. I took up smoking to forget all that. but i continue with playing my instrument. Started a band, we went on a tour, Chicago, New York, Atlantic city, Cincinnati, etc. Granted we didn't sell out Carnige Hall we just played in hotels and casinos, We got held up in Jersey, but came here to avoid that sh*thole

I don't know how I made it honestly, I've been everything. Well not everything, I didn't fall so low I became a hooker, but you get the idea.

Anyway, thanks for listening, it means a lot to me.

About your life. I share the same feelings as you pal, New Jersey is a one-way hell, once you get in. You probably will never see the light again, thankfully you decided to get out of there before you got into trouble. Speaking of trouble, I'm not trying to start any, but... can I ask you something about you?

Anyhoo, I think everyone has fallen in love before, its just whether or not you can convice you to love them back. Thats the intersting part. I was once in a relationship, a girl by the name of Gladys. I met her in Cincinnati when i was just starting my band in a hotel. She was a manager there, with long brunette hair, she looked like one of those actreses in Hollywood.
We had a thing for a while, thought our band kept movin from hotel to casino, and supper clubs. She still tries to send letters to me though.

Sorry sorry, It's just that I still have trouble predicting how people will act; knowing what you now know of me. I think you will understand.

Anyway, I'm asking you this because I'm a real lonely guy ever since I lost my family, all of those years ago. The thing here is that I didn't have to be. I had the opportunity once, but I didn't take it, simply because I was scared. I was scared that things would go wrong. I was scared that she would get hurt. I left and never saw her again. I eventually came to terms with myself and forgot about the whole thing, but deep inside me, I knew I could never forget her, and low and behold, it is true. She sparked in my mind once again, like a gas lamp being lit.

And the thing is... that I'm not sure, if I accept those terms anymore.
