United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, also known as the United Kingdom (UK or U.K) is a Soverign Nation located off the Northwestern Coast of the European Mainland. The United Kingdom includes the Island of Great Britain, the northeastern part of Ireland, and many smaller Islands. Otherwise, the United Kingdom is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, with the North Sea to the east, the English Channel to the south, and the Celtic Sea to the southwest, giving it the 12'th Longest Coastline in the world. The Irish Sea separates Great Britain and Ireland. The Total Area of the United Kingdom is 94,000 miles (240,000 km).
The current version of the United Kingdom was formed in the Constitutional Crisis of 1936. Prime Minister Stanely Baldwin, Parliament, and the Church of England attempted to convince King Edward VIII to abdicate after he intended to marry American divorcee, Wallis Simpson. Edward VIII resisted, and the Middle Class, supportive of the Popular King, began protesting against Parliament, cheering The King at Buckingham Palace, Waving The Royal Banners, Holding Signs stating "God Save the King" and "May he Reign over us". In order to bolster his support, King Edward took a Long Tour of Parts of British India and Africa and then Canada and Australia, promising increased Living Conditions, Lighter Rule, and Equality for Colonial and Dominion Citizens. These Promises increased The Monarchs Popularity Empire Wide. Back in Britain, many Politicians rallied to the King's Cause but isolated the Dominion Governments. Fascist Oswald Mosley, Conservative Winston Churchill, and even Liberal David Lloyd George. Churchill and Lloyd George, along with their Followers, Formed the Royal Conservative Party and Liberal Imperialist Party, and along with The British Union of Fascists, formed the King's Party. Later that week Edward announced that "Having a Morganatic Marriage is unacceptable, and denying his Children to the Crown Unconstitutional. I promise to my people that Wallis will become a Princess, and it is time for the People and Empire to recognize the changes of the World, and repeal the Medival Law of Royalty Only." With that message, people cheered for the King, however, the Government refused to end the Crisis. Henceforth Oswald Mosley organized a March on Westminster with the Blackshirts and Royalist Protestors and began Shouting to the Halls of Parliament. Later a Royalist Mob marched to Downing Street and surrounded the Prime Ministers Building. In the last desperation of Hope, Baldwin called the Army and London Police Force to shut down the Rioters and arrest Mosley, but General Lord Gort refused any action. Seeing his Failures, Baldwin and His Cabinet resigned. After the Resignation, King Edward VIII called for Elections, with the new Loyalist Conservatives and Liberals, gaining a Majority and Forming a Coalition Government, with Sir Winston Churchill becoming Prime Minister. The British Union of Fascists increased its popularity with British Nationalists and the British Peoples Party succeeding the Labour Party as the Major Social Democratic and Socialist Bloc.

It’s 1937, as Japanese Troops enter The Province of Beijing, China. Just Six Years ago, Japanese Forces occupied Manchuria and installed a Puppet Government, Manchukuo. Now another invasion has begun, as Japanese Forces sweep through Beijing and Inner Mongolia, creating Two more Puppet Governments, Meijing and Reorganized National Government of China. Soon after Japan begins invading the Chinese Coastline, and successfully Occupies Shanghai and Nanjing. By the middle of 1938 Chinese Coastline was occupied by the Japanese Empire and was advancing West towards Yunnan and San Ma. Then Japan started exploiting Rebels and Warlords to diminish the Nationalists, and by September to November 1939, China would surrender. By 1940, with Britain only left in the Allies, Japan would begin the invasion of Southeast Asia Invading French Indochina from China and allying with Siam (Thailand). By Late 1940, French Indochina and British Malaya would surrender, creating the Puppet Governments of Annam, Cambodia, and Malaya. Japan would begin the invasion of the Dutch East Indies by Early 1941 with Troops from Malaya advancing in Sarawak, Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi. Then with help of Siam, Japan begins the invasion of British India, advancing into Burma. Meanwhile by Middle of 1941 Japan would invade Papua forcing the Dutch East Indies to capitulate and advancing into British Papua New Guinea. Also the East Indies would become a Japanese Protectorate along with Papua. By December 1941, Japan would have occupied all of Papua and would be advancing into Bengal stopping at the banks of the Ganges River creating the State of Myanmar. Suddenly on December 7th Japan would bomb Pearl Harbor, sinking most of the US Pacific Fleet, including the Carriers and severely Damaging the Repair Yards, and Oil Fields. America would declare war but would sign a Peace Treaty with the rest of the Allies. We jump to Summer of 1942 when Japan declares war on the Soviet Union, invading from Two Points, from Manchuria to the Far East, and from Menjiang to Mongolia. This would help the Soviet Union collapse. By 1943 Japan would be the Dominant Power of East Asia and the Pacific and would break off from the Axis Powers, being invested in the Greater East Asian Co Prosperity Sphere.
It's 1936 and Italy has just finished the 2nd Italian-Ethiopian War, merging their Colonies in East Africa to form Italian East Africa. By 1939 Italy had forced the Kingdom of Albania to Join the Italian Empire. By 1940, as Italian Forces entered Southeast France, the French Government announced their Surrender to the German Reich as they closed up on Northern France. However in this Universe Italy participates much more to the War, and is given Corsica, and Outer Sardinia (Marsille). In 1941, Italy then sent its military might on the Balkans, with the Help of the Tripartite Pact, Italy invaded Yugoslavia and Greece and with the help of the Axis forces their surrender. Italy then creates the Puppet Governments of Croatia and Greece and annexes Dalmatia and Montenegro, as their Military is led South Invading Egypt as we as British Territories in the Medditaranian Sea like Malta, and Cyprus. By Early 1942 Italy took its full Military might on British Sudan and created the Puppet Governments of Italian Egypt-Sudan , and then began the invasion of British Palestine and Transjordan. Then Italy invades Turkey, invading From Syria and Greece, and forcing a Turkish Surrender. We jump to 1943, after Case Anton Italy is given French Tunisia and French Assyria. After the peace Treaty in 1943 Italy would become the Dominant Power in the Medditaranian and North Africa, and would break away from the Axis Powers, allying with the Spanish State, Republic of Portugal, and Kingdom of Romania to form the Latin Bloc. After the war Germany releases German Occupation of Serbia to Italy, who creates another Puppet Government. Italy is now the Dominant Power in the Middle East, South Europe, and Northeast Africa.
Germany began its first Territorial expansion in 1938, by annexing the Republic of Austria, and the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia. In early 1939 the remainders of Czechoslovakia would become the Protectorate of Bohemia, and the Puppet Government of the Slovak Republic (Slovakia). On September 1st 1939, Germany would declare war on Poland, resulting in a British and French declaration of war 2 Days later. Germany, along with the Soviet Union divided up Poland into Two, with Germany directly annexing the North, and creating a Protectorate in the south. Then in Middle of 1940, Germany launched Operation Weserburg and Conquered Denmark and Norway, becoming Puppet Governments to the German Reich. On May 10, Germany would invade the Low Countries to bypass French Defences, as the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Belgium with haste, and advancing drastically into the French Republic. When British Troops evacuate from France, many ships would be sunk by German U-Boats and would cause heavy British Casualties. On June 14, Paris would be occupied by Germans and the French Republic would surrender. After the Battle of France, Germany would directly Annex Alscase-Lorraine and Luxembourg, and create Puppet Governments in Belgium and the Netherlands. Northern France would be Occupied and the South would become a Free State. Germany would then send the Mighty Luftwaffe to Bomb the United Kingdom, simultaneously destroying British Factories and Military Bases, effectively leaving Great Britain out of the Picture. Meanwhile Germany would help Fascist Italy invade the Balakans, Turkey, and Egypt for the rest of 1941. Germany would also annex Slovenia after Yugoslavian surrender. Germany would then recall its troops to prepare Operation Barbarossa, and in Spring 1942 Germany would invade Russia from Multiple Angels. From Finland and Norway into Karliea, from Turkey to the Caucasian Mountains, from China to Mongolia and the Far East, and from Poland into Western Russia. By Fall, Russia would have lost most of its Resourceful Regions, and as German Troops advance towards Leningrad and Moscow, Russia would lay down their Arms. In the Peace Treaty, Ukraine, the Caucasus, the Baltic States, Belarus and Western Russia became Protectorates of Germany. The Siberian Republic and The Central Asian Republic became independent as a Buffer Zone between Japan and Germany. Germany would then relinquish Occupation of France to the Free Zone. With Britain all alone Germany would sign a Peace Treaty with Britain leaving the British to pay War Debts and lose Palestine, Egypt, Somaliland, and Sudan. By the end of the War Japan and Italy had left the Axis, with Germany, Bulgaria, Hungary, and the French State remaining in the Axis. However the Greater German Reich is a Superpower, dominating Western and Eastern Europe.
In 2024, Queen Elizabeth II, Head of State of The United Kingdom, Commonwealth Realms, and British Overseas Territories passed away in her Bedroom in Windsor Castle. Her son, Charles immediately accepted the Title as King of Great Britain and the Commonwealth Realms. However after this was announced to the Public, many Republicans and parts of the Labour Party advocated for the Abolishing of the British Monarchy. The Conservatives, whom were in power ordered the Suppression of these Radical Claims. After other Calls for dissolution of the United Kingdom, and an underrepresented Close Call in the General Election, British National Stability Collapsed. The Conservatives declared a Provincial Government in the South, While the Socialists and Republicans formed separate Governments in Northern England. During this time, Cornwall, Scotland, and Wales gained Independence and Formed an Alliance against British Unionism. Northern Ireland was occupied by the Republic of Ireland. The British Royal Family has at first Fled to France and Now is currently in Canada, to avoid the Turbulence in the British Isles. British overseas Territories are currently occupied by Allies to the Provincial Government, such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States. Whom will come out Victorious and Reunited Great Britain.

After the Crowning of Charles as King of the United Kingdom, and the deceleration of Independence by Scotland, Wales, and Cornwall, as well as the Revolts by the Socialists and the Republicans, a Provincial Government was formed in London. The Provincial Government is considered by most Foreign Nations as the Legitimate Government of the United Kingdom. They are primarily consisted of Conservatives, Unionists, Monarchists, and Non-Republican Labors. They are supplied by other Commonwealth Realms Nations, NATO, and the United States.

After the Coronation of Charles III, Much of the Labour Party, declared the Abolishing of the Monarchy and the Creation of a Socialist Republic, and we quickly Supported by the Communists Party of Great Britain. While having Minor Areas in Scotland and Wales, they are mostly Stationed in Northern England. They currently have a Military Government in Manchester, with a Combined Labour and Communist Government. They are backed and Recognized as the Official Government of Great Britain, by the Democratic Republic of Korea, Peoples Republic of China, Cuba, and Vietnam.

The Green Party of England and Wales as well as other Republicans, Collaborated with the Socialists in Abolishing the Monarchy, but left the Alignment after the Labors were aided by Communists. The Republic controls a large amount Northern and Western England, and has a Temporary Capital in York. The Republic has no Official Supporters but like in Scotland, some of the European Union may want to aid them in creating an English Republic, however the Republic wants to remain United.

During the National Crisis between the Labour Party and the Conservatives, The Scottish National Party seized Scotland, and declared Scottish Independence from Great Britain. While not Officially choosing a side of the British Civil War, some think that the SNP lean more towards the Republicans, in hopes of remaining Independent. They are primarily Backed by the Republic of Ireland and the Anti-Unionist Alliance, but some Members of the European Parliament for the European Union hope that they may Remain Independent and Join the European Union.

Around the Same Time Scotland and Cornwall declared Independence, Plaid Cymru, a Welsh Political Party declared Welsh Independence, and formed a Government in Newport. Similar to Scotland they also have minor Support from the Republic of Ireland and Individuals in the European Union. However they have No Official backers other than the Alliance of Anti-Unionism

Along with other Deceleration of Independence in Scotland and Wales, Cornwall declared Independence shortly after the fall of the British Government. They are members of the Anti-Unionist Alliance, but are less committed than Wales and Scotland. Unlike other participants in the British Civil War, the Cornish are the most Right-Wing, with the Right-Wing Cornish National Party in control of the Free State.
A Hypothetical Outcome would be uncertain and my Statement could be wrong, however I believe the Provincial Government would eventually retake the Nation. Mostly in part of International Recognition by NATO, the Commonwealth, and most European Union, and the Fact that they control one of the Most Industrial Areas and could easily Catch More. And the Peoples Republic would be divided by the Socialists and Communists, as well as in the Republic, Progressive versus the Capitalists. Once the Republic and Peoples Republic dealt with, The Alliance Against Anti-Unionism would be crushed, and Great Britain would be restored to Order.

The Commonwealth of Nations
The Imperial Federation of The Commonwealth of Nations commonly called The Imperial Commonwealth, is a Federal Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy throughout the Globe. In Africa It is bordered on the north by The Kingdom of Egypt, in Europe to the south by The French Union, in Asia to the east is Thailand and on the west of The Gulf States by Saudi Arabia. The Imperial Commonwealth has has an estimated population of 2.5 Billion. The Imperial Commonwealth comprises of 6 Member-States, 2 Junior Member-States, and 26 Colonies and Protectorates.
During the Eighteen Century, The Imperial Federation League was formed in London, which advocated the the Unity of the United Kingdom and The Dominions (Canada, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand) in an Imperial Federation and wished for the creation of an Imperial Parliament. Secretary of the State to the Colonies, Joseph Chamberlain would be a large advocate of the Imperial Federation League, and with Greater Campaigning and more loses and the 2nd Boer War, The Dominions would begin to see themselves as Weaker Divided, so in the 1903, The Colonial Conference would succeed, in creating an Imperial Parliament, and would see the British Government Federalized, creating the Imperial Federation of the British Empire. Parliament would loose Local Authority, delegating it to Local Governments, while Trade, Defense, and Law would be managed by the New Imperial Parliament. A decade later, The Imperial Federation would Honor their Treaties with France and Belgium, and would declare war on the German Empire and Central Powers. However the United Imperial Armed Forces would quickly advance in the Western Front and Middle East, ending the War slightly Earlier. The Imperial Armed Forces would also be sent to Russia, to aid the White Army Faction to eradicate the Bolsheviks and reinstate the Tsar in a Constitutional Monarchy. Right after the War however, Th Egyptian Revolt would begin, and would force to give the Kingdom of Egypt independence, however continuing the Co-Ownership of Sudan. During this time also, Iraq would gain Independence, and the British would continue the Promise of Palestinian Independence once ready. In 1927, another Colonial Conference would be Held, and many members of the Delegation would call that the Imperial Federation is outdated, and would call for Reforms, which leads to the Pass of the Statue of Westminster and the Creation of the Imperial Federation of the Commonwealth of Nations, as well as Giving India, Dominion and Membership Status. In 1939, defending their Ally Poland, the Imperial Commonwealth would declare war on Germany, and soon Italy and Japan. However with the Aid of the Imperial Armed Forces and the United States and Soviet Union, The Axis Powers are defeated. The Imperial Commonwealth, however sharing a common Government of Democracy with the United States, would be angered by American Pressure to Decolonize. The Imperial Commonwealth would refuse and would leave NATO, Inviting the French Union, Portugal, and other Colonial Powers in the Imperial Front, creating a Third Party to the Cold War. In the 1950's, The Commonwealth would give in to Israeli and Jordanian Independence. However a Larger Problem would arise in Egypt, with their Revolution, replacing the Monarchy with a Republic, and wishing to Nationalize the Suez Canal. The Imperial Commonwealth and French Union would stage an Intervention, causing the Monarchists to rise up against Nasser, and replacing him with the Old Monarchy. Tension would continue with the Co-ownership of Sudan, which neither Side knowing would last longer, would see the divide of the Region, with the British remaining in the South, but the Egyptians annexing the North and Center. Soon the Cold War would end, with the Collapse of the Soviet Union, and the United States opening the Gates to Friendly Relations and to remain as a Safeguard to Democracy and The Americas.
The British Empire Economic Conference of 1925 would suggest the formation of a zone of limited tariffs within the British Empire, but with high tariffs with the rest of the world. This was called "Imperial preference" or "Empire Free-Trade" (later Commonwealth Preference). This abandonment of open free trade led to a split in the British government and political parties. Liberals and conservatives divided into free traders and imperialists. The approval of the Import Duties Act of 1927 establish the Imperial preference system and the Imperial Trade Board in charge of its implementation. The Imperial Commonwealth has a Way of Self Sufficiency on the Policy of Resources and Trade, with Surplus Resources in One Area being Traded to another Areas in Need of that Resource. That way Famines are near Impossible, and If one Area goes into an Recession, other Colonies gain aid it to recover. However, if the Area with the Resource needs it, it will not be Exported. Their are also various Trade Triangles in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, that help supply Resources easier.
The Imperial Commonwealth has a very Large Gross Domestic Product, thanks to the High Textile Industry in India, as well as the Resources in Malaysia, and Rare Minerals in Africa, The Spices in the West Indies, and the Industrialization in Britain. Recently, Their has been Recent Efforts by the Imperial Economic Board to increase Workers Conditions and Pay, lowering Taxes on the Poor and Working Class, and also increasing Wages, to increase the British GDP Per Capita, which is in need to Improvement. The Economic Board has also been Funding More Industrialization in Africa, attempting to create more Jobs and to create more Economic Output. They also hope it can decrease Primitive Lifestyle and create Modern and Industrial Living Spaces.
The Imperial Commonwealth is a Federal Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy, with the Current Head of State being Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the Dominions, also holding the Title of Empress Elizabeth I of India. The Imperial Commonwealth has a very strong Parliament tradition, essentially being a form of Westminster Democracy. There are two main tiers of government: Federal and Regional. The Federal Government, deals with Foreign Relations, Defense, External Trade, National Legislation, and The National Budget. The Regional Governments deals with regional economy, including Healthcare and Education as well as Policing, Environment and Transport. The Commonwealth is divided into 7 Self Governing States, with Great Britain under direct Rule by the Imperial Parliament. Colonies and Protectorates also have Governments, but these are Overseen by the Imperial Parliament. Each State and Territory has a Regional Governor whom are Delegates to the Imperial Parliament. The Imperial Parliament is Headed by the Chancellor, whom is Head of Government, and is currently Sir William Hague.
Political Parties
The Imperial Commonwealth is a Multi Party Democracy,with various of Political Parties in The Imperial and Regional Governments. The Imperial Parliament are mainly dominated by the Center-Right Conservative and Unionist Party and the Center-Left Labour Party, and to a lesser Extent Regional Governments. However their are, Several Other Significant Parties within the Imperial Parliament. These are: The Hindu Nationalist Party, the United Muslim League, The Christian Alliance, The Imperialist and Royalist Union, and the Liberal Bloc. Many Regional Governments also have Other Parties based on Majority or Minority Ethnic Groups, Religion, and Ideology. Some of these Parties call Independence from the Federation, More Representation, and Moderate to Radical Change in Government.

Today's Question that we have to answer is how The United States would loose the American Revolutionary War. However the only thing we need to do is the British Army instead of laying a Seige in the Battle of Long Island, They Easily finish them off, and the Continental Army would be demolished and General Washington captured. The Revolution would lass a few more Weeks, but would be crushed and the Thirteen Colonies would be reintroduced into the Kingdom of Great Britain.

After British Victory in the French and Indian War, The Kingdom of Great Britain, while gaining various of Territories in North America and India, Britain was in a £65 Million Debt. The British Parliament decided since most of the War was Defending the American Colonies, Taxes were created on the North American Colonies. However various of these Taxes were repealed after various of Protests and Boycotts. However once the Tax on Tea was created, Citizens of Boston dressed up like Native Americans, and dumped a shipment into the Harbor. The British Government disgusted by this ordered the City to be Occupied by the British Army, and Massachusetts to become under British Oversight. Other Colonies were Worried and then Angered that they may be Next. In the First Continental Congress, They offered the British to end the Taxes, and in turn the Colonies would gain reforms. However, King George III refused, and so Congress ordered the Militia to begin arming themselves. They were storing Supplies at Concord, so British Forces from Boston attempted to Seize the Supplies and Disband the Militia. The Two Armies were at a Standoff, until Someone Fired. The British retreated from Concord and then Lexington and forced back to Boston. Boston would be put under Siege for the next 10 Months, and Congress named George Washington as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. However with American Reinforcements from Fort Ticonderoga, the British Retreated and abandoned the City. The Continental Army would relocate to New York to defend the City, knowing it as a British Target. During this Time, the 2nd Continental Congress would declare independence from Great Britain creating the United States of America.
However a Large British Fleet and Force would force the Americans to Brooklyn Heights, by attacking them on Two Sides. The Americans would be overrun by British Forces and both Sides would suffer Many Casualties, but the Americans would be Crushed and Washington would be Captured, Kill, or Severally wounded. With Washington out of Command, The War would last a Few More Weeks, but with aid from Loyalist Forces the American Revolution would End. In the Treaty of London, Britain fear of Further Rebellions would End the Taxes imposed to the Colonies. The Colonies would be in Debt to the British, and The British Would pass the British North American Act, with the creation of a Local Legislation and Government in North America.
After the War, Spain, feeling Threatened by the British Position in North America, would return Louisiana to their Ally, The Kingdom of France, in hopes that France can defend any Notion of British Expansion into North America, especially since Spain remained at war with Portugal, whom was an Ally to the Kingdom of Great Britain. France and Spain would renew their Alliance to combat the Powerful British Empire. Meanwhile British would continue limited Expansion in North America (Western Canada), but primarily was Expanding in Asia. In order to decrease the British Debt, the British East India Company was Illegally Trading Opium to China, and Expanding into Indian States and Principalities. Before the Revolution, Captain James Cook found the Continent of Australia and Claimed the Southwestern area of it for Great Britain. With American Liberalizing and Industrializing, Parliament wanted a Penal Colony under their Direct Rule so in 1788 the first Prisoners as well as a Fleet of 11 Ships landed and Established the Colony of New South Wales.

During the battle, Bluecrownite spies managed to steal secret plans to Callista's ultimate weapon, the Gulag Star, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire region. Pursued by Callista's sinister agents, The Gold Mines races home aboard her starship, custodian of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy…
[The awesome yellow planet of Tatooine emerges from a total eclipse, her two moons glowing against the darkness. A tiny silver spacecraft, a Bluecrownite Blockade Runner firing lasers from the back of the ship, races through space. It is pursued by a giant Callistan Regiondestroyer. Hundreds of deadly laserbolts streak from the Callistan Regiondestroyer, causing the main solar fin of the Bluecrownite craft to disintegrate.]
INT. BLUECROWNITE BLOCKADE RUNNER - MAIN PASSAGEWAY
[An explosion rocks the ship as two robots, KOE and NAIS struggle to make their way through the shaking, bouncing passageway. Both robots are old and battered. KOE is a short, claw-armed tripod. His face is a mass of computer lights surrounding a radar eye. NAIS, on the other hand, is a tall, slender robot of human proportions. He has a gleaming bronze-like metallic surface of an Art Deco design. Another blast shakes them as they struggle along their way.]
NAIS: Did you hear that? They've shut down the main reactor. We'll be destroyed for sure. This is madness!
[Bluecrownite troopers rush past the robots and take up positions in the main passageway. They aim their weapons toward the door.]
NAIS: We're doomed!
[The little KOE unit makes a series of electronic sounds that only another robot could understand.]
NAIS: There'll be no escape for The Gold Mines this time.
[KOE continues making beeping sounds. Tension mounts as loud metallic latches clank and the scream of heavy equipment are heard moving around the outside hull of the ship.]
NAIS: What's that?
EXT. SPACECRAFT IN SPACE
[The Callistan craft has easily overtaken the Bluecrownite Blockade Runner. The smaller Bluecrownite ship is being drawn into the underside dock of the giant Callistan starship.]
INT. BLUECROWNITE BLOCKADE RUNNER
[The nervous Bluecrownite troopers aim their weapons. Suddenly a tremendous blast opens up a hole in the main passageway and a score of fearsome armored spacesuited tsartroopers make their way into the smoke-filled corridor. In a few minutes, the entire passageway is ablaze with laserfire. The deadly bolts ricochet in wild random patterns creating huge explosions. Tsartroopers scatter and duck behind storage lockers. Laserbolts hit several Bluecrownite soldiers who scream and stagger through the smoke, holding shattered arms and faces. An explosion hits near the robots.]
NAIS: I should have known better than to trust the logic of a half-sized thermocapillary dehousing assister…
[KOE counters with an angry rebuttal as the battle rages around the two hapless robots.]
INT. BLUECROWNITE BLOCKADE RUNNER - MAIN HALLWAY
[The awesome, seven-foot-tall Dark Lord of the Tsarists makes his way into the blinding light of the main passageway. This is Plus Nova Imperii, right-hand of Sorianora. His face is obscured by his flowing black robes and grotesque breath mask, which stands out next to the fascist white armored suits of the Callistan tsartroopers. Everyone instinctively backs away from the imposing warrior and a deathly quiet sweeps through the Bluecrownite troops. Several of the Bluecrownite troops break and run in a frenzied panic.]
INT. BLUECROWNITE BLOCKADE RUNNER
[A woman's hand puts a card into an opening in KOE's dome.]
[KOE makes beeping sounds.]
INT. BLUECROWNITE BLOCKADE RUNNER
[NAIS stands in a hallway, somewhat bewildered. KOE is nowhere in sight. The pitiful screams of the doomed Bluecrownite soldiers can be heard in the distance.]
NAIS: KOE, where are you?
[A familiar clanking sound attacks NAIS’s attention and he spots little KOE at the end of the hallway in a smoke-filled alcove. A beautiful young girl (about sixteen years old) stands in front of KOE. Surreal and out of place, dreamlike and half-hidden in the smoke, she finishes adjusting something on KOE's computer face, then watches as the little robot joins his companion.]
NAIS: At last! Where have you been?
NAIS: They're heading in this direction. What are we going to do? We'll be sent to the spice mine of Kessel or smashed into who knows what!
[KOE scoots past his bronze friend and races down the subhallway.]
[NAIS chases after him.]
NAIS: Wait a minute, where are you going?
[KOE responds with electronic beeps.]
INT. BLUECROWNITE BLOCKADE RUNNER - CORRIDOR
[The evil Plus Nova Imperii stands amid the broken and twisted bodies of his foes. He grabs a wounded Bluecrownite Officer by the neck as an Callistan Officer rushes up to the Dark Lord.]
Callistan Officer: The Gulag Star plans are not in the main computer.
[Plus Nova squeezes the neck of the Bluecrownite Officer, who struggles in vain.]
Plus Nova Imperii: Where are those transmissions you intercepted?
[Plus Nova lifts the Bluecrownite off his feet by his throat.]
Plus Nova Imperii: What have you done with those plans?
Bluecrownite Officer: We intercepted no transmissions. Aaah… This is a consular ship. Were on a diplomatic mission.
Plus Nova Imperii: If this is a consular ship… where is the Ambassador?
[The Bluecrownite refuses to speak but eventually cries out as the Dark Lord begins to squeeze the officer's throat, creating a gruesome snapping and choking, until the soldier goes limp. Plus Nova tosses the dead soldier against the wall and turns to his troops.]
Plus Nova Imperii: Commander, tear this ship apart until you've found those plans and bring me the passengers. I want them alive!
[The tsartroopers scurry into the subhallways.]
INT. BLUECROWNITE BLOCKADE RUNNER - SUBHALLWAY
[The lovely young girl huddles in a small alcove as the stormtroopers search through the ship. She is The Gold Mines, a member of the Alderaan Senate. The fear in her eyes slowly gives way to anger as the muted crushing sounds of the approaching tsartroopers grow louder. One of the tsartroopers spots her.]
Tsartrooper: There's one! Set for stun!
[The Gold Mines steps from her hiding place and blasts a trooper with her laser pistol. She starts to run but is felled by a paralyzing ray. The troopers inspect her inert body.]
Tsartrooper: She'll be all right. Inform Plus Nova Imperii we have a prisoner.
INT. BLUECROWNITE BLOCKADE RUNNER - SUBHALLWAY
[KOE stops before the small hatch of an emergency lifepod. He snaps the seal on the main latch and a red warning light begins to flash. The stubby astro-robot works his way into the cramped four-man pod.]
NAIS: Hey, you're not permitted in there. It's restricted. You'll be deactivated for sure.
[KOE beeps something to him.]
NAIS: Don't call me a mindless philosopher, you overweight glob of grease! Now come out before somebody sees you.
[KOE whistles something at his reluctant friend regarding the mission he is about to perform.]
NAIS: Secret mission? What plans? What are you talking about? I'm not getting in there!
[KOE isn't happy with NAIS’s stubbornness, and he beeps and twangs angrily. A new explosion, this time very close, sends dust and debris through the narrow subhallway. Flames lick at NAIS and, after a flurry of electronic swearing from KOE, the lanky robot jumps into the lifepod.]
NAIS: I'm going to regret this.
INT. CALLISTAN REGIONDESTROYER
[On the main viewscreen, the lifepod carrying the two terrified robots speeds away from the stricken Bluecrownite spacecraft.]
Chief Tsartrooper: There goes another one.
Captain Tsartrooper: Hold your fire. There are no life forms. It must have short-circuited.
INT. LIFEPOD
[KOE and NAIS look out at the receding Callistan starship. Stars circle as the pod rotates through the galaxy.]
NAIS: That's funny, the damage doesn't look as bad from out here.
[KOE beeps an assuring response.]
NAIS: Are you sure this thing's safe?
EXT. TATOOINE - ANCHORHEAD SETTLEMENT - POWER STATION - DAY
[Heat waves radiate from the dozen or so bleached white buildings. Baloo pilots his Landspeeder through the dusty empty street of the tiny settlement. An old woman runs to get out of the way of the speeding vehicle, shaking her fist at Baloo as he flies past.]
NationStates Karen: I’ve told you kids to slow down!
INT. POWER STATION - DAY
[Baloo bursts into the power station, waking The Trader, a rugged mechanic and The Strangers Club, a tired, disheveled girl who has been asleep in his lap. They grumbled as he races through the office, yelling wildly.]
The Trader: Did I hear a young noise blast through here?
The Strangers Club: It was just Bearo on another rampage.
[Baloo bounces into a small room behind the office where Mowgli and Sans, two tough boys about the same age as Baloo, are playing a computer pool-like game with Mongo, a burly, handsome boy a few years older than the rest. His flashy city attire is a sharp contrast to the loose-fitting tunics of the farm boys. A robot repairs some equipment in the background.]
Baloo: Shape it up you guys!… Mongo?
[Baloo’s surprise at the appearance of Mongo gives way to great joy and emotion. They give each other a great bear hug.]
Baloo: I didn’t know you were back! When did you get in?
Mongo: Just now. I wanted to surprise you, hotshot. I thought you’d be here… certainly didn’t expect you to be out working.
[He laughs]
Baloo: The Callistan Academy didn’t change you much…but you’re back so soon? Hey, what happened, didn’t you get your commission?
[Mongo has an air of cool that seems slightly phony.]
Mongo: Of course I got it. Signed aboard The Rand Ecliptic last week. First mate Mongo Empire at your service… [He salutes] …I just came to say good-bye to all you unfortunate landlocked simpletons.
[Everyone laughs. The dazzling spectacle of his dashing friend is almost too much for Baloo, but suddenly he snaps out of it.]
Baloo: I almost forgot. There’s a battle going on! Right here in our system. Come and look!
Mowgli: Not again! Forget it.
EXT. TATOOINE - ANCHORHEAD - SETTLEMENT - POWER STATION - DAY
[The group stumbles out into the stifling desert sun. The Stranger Club and The Trader complain and are forced to shade their eyes. Baloo has his binoculars out scanning the heavens.]
Baloo: There they are!
[Mongo takes the binoculars from Baloo as the others strain to see something with the naked eye. Through the binoculars, Mongo sees two small silver specks.]
Mongo: That’s no battle, hot shot… they’re just sitting there! Probably a freighter-tanker refueling.
Baloo: But there was a lot of firing earlier....
[The Strangers Club grabs the binoculars away banging them against the building in the process. Baloo grabs them.]
Baloo: Hey, easy with those....
The Strangers Club: Don’t worry about it, Bearo.
[The Trader gives Baloo a hard look and the young farm boy shrugs his shoulders in resignation.]
The Trader: I keep telling you, the Rebellion is a long way from here. I doubt if the Callistan Empire would even fight to keep this system. Believe me Baloo, this region is a big hunk of nothing....
[Baloo agrees, although it’s obvious he isn’t sure why. The group stumbles back into the power station, grumbling about Baloo’s ineptitude.]
INT. BLUECROWNITE BLOCKADE RUNNER - HALLWAY
[The Gold Mines is led down a low-ceilinged hallway by a squad of armored tsartroopers. Her hands are bound and she is brutally shoved when she is unable to keep up with the briskly marching troops. They stop in a smoky hallway as Plus Nova Imperii emerges from the shadows. The sinister Dark Lord stares hard at the frail young senator, but she doesn’t move.]
The Gold Mines: Lord Imperii, I should have known. Only you could be so bold. The Callistan Senate will not sit for this when they hear you’ve attacked a diplomatic…
Plus Nova Imperii: Don’t act so surprised, Your Highness. You weren’t on any mercy mission this time. Several transmissions were beamed to this ship by Bluecrownite spies. I want to know what happened to the plans they sent you.
The Gold Mines: I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m a member of the Callistan Senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan…
Plus Nova Imperii: You’re a part of the Bluecrownite Alliance and a traitor. Take her away!
[The Gold Mines is marched away down the hallway and into the smoldering hole blasted in the side of the ship.]
[An Callistan Commander turns to Plus Nova.]
Barrow Cove: Holding her is dangerous. If word of this gets out, it could generate sympathy for the Rebellion in the senate.
Plus Nova Imperii: I have traced the Bluecrownite spies to her. Now she is my only link to finding their secret base!
Barrow Cove: She’ll die before she tells you anything.
Plus Nova Imperii: Leave that to me. Send a distress signal and then inform the senate that all aboard were killed!
[Another Callistan Officer approaches Plus Nova Imperii and Barrow Cove. They stop and snap to attention.]
Callistan Officer: Lord Imperii, the battle station plans are not aboard this ship! And no transmissions were made. An escape pod was jettisoned during the fighting, but no life forms were aboard.
[Plus Nova turns to Barrow Cove.]
Plus Nova Imperii: She must have hidden the plans in the escape pod. Send a detachment down to retrieve them. See to it personally, Barrow Cove. There’ll be no one to stop us this time.
Barrow Cove: Yes, sir.
EXT. SPACE
[The Callistan Regiondestroyer comes over the surface of the region, Tatooine.]
EXT. TATOOINE - DESERT
[Jundland, or "No Man’s Land", where the rugged desert mesas meet the foreboding dune sea. The two helpless astro-droids kick up clouds of sand as they leave the lifepod and clumsily work their way across the desert wasteland. The lifepod in the distance rests half-buried in the sand.]
NAIS: How did we get into this mess? I really don’t know-how. We seem to be made to suffer. It’s our lot in life.
[KOE answers with beeping sounds.]
NAIS: I’ve got to rest before I fall apart. My joints are almost frozen.
[KOE continues to respond with beeping sounds.]
NAIS: What a desolate place this is.
[Suddenly KOE whistles, makes a sharp right turn, and starts off in the direction of the rocky desert mesas. NAIS stops and yells at him.]
NAIS: Where do you think going?
[A stream of electronic noises pours forth from the small robot.]
NAIS: Well, I’m not going that way. It’s much too rocky. This way is much easier.
[KOE counters with a long whistle.]
NAIS: What makes you think there are settlements over there?
[KOE continues to make beeping sounds.]
NAIS: Don’t get technical with me.
[KOE continues to make beeping sounds.]
NAIS: What mission? What are you talking about? I’ve had just about enough of you! Go that way! You’ll be malfunctioning within a day, you nearsighted scrap pile!
[NAIS gives the little robot a kick and starts off in the direction of the vast dune sea.]
NAIS: And don’t let me catch you following me begging for help, because you won’t get it. KOE’s reply is a rather rude sound. He turns and trudges off in the direction of the towering mesas.]
NAIS: No more adventures. I’m not going that way.
[KOE beeps to himself as he makes his way toward the distant mountains.]
EXT. TATOOINE - DUNE SEA
[NAIS, hot and tired, struggles up over the ridge of a dune; only to find more dunes, which seem to go on for endless miles. He looks back in the direction of the now distant rock mesas.]
NAIS: That malfunctioning little twerp. This is all his fault! He tricked me into going this way, but he’ll do no better.
[In a huff of anger and frustration, NAIS knocks the sand from his joints. His plight seems hopeless when a glint of reflected light in the distance reveals an object moving towards him.]
NAIS: Wait, what’s that? A transport! I’m saved!
[The bronze android waves frantically and yells at the approaching transport.]
NAIS: Over here! Hey, hey! Help! Please, help!
[The gargantuan rock formations are shrouded in a strange foreboding mist and the ominous sounds of unearthly creatures fill the air. KOE moves cautiously through the creepy rock canyon, inadvertently making a loud clicking noise as he goes. He hears a distant, hard, metallic sound and stops for a moment. Convinced he is alone, he continues on his way. In the distance, a pebble tumbles down the steep canyon wall, and a small dark figure darts into the shadows. A little further up the canyon, a slight flicker of light reveals a pair of eyes in the dark recesses only a few feet from the narrow path. The unsuspecting robot waddles along the rugged trail until suddenly, out of nowhere, a powerful magnetic ray shoots out of the rocks and engulfs him in an eerie glow. He manages one short electronic squeak before he topples over onto his back. His bright computer lights flicker off, then on, then off again. Out of the rocks scurry three Deflators, no taller than KOE. They holster strange and complex weapons as they cautiously approach the robot. They wear grubby cloaks and their faces are shrouded so only their glowing eyes can be seen. They hiss and make odd guttural sounds as they heave the heavy robot onto their shoulders and carry him off down the trail.]
EXT. TATOOINE - ROCK CANYON - CARDCRAWLER - SUNSET
[The eight Deflators carry KOE out of the canyon to a huge tank-like vehicle the size of a four-story house. They weld a small disk on the side of KOE and then put him under a large tube on the side of the vehicle and the little robot is sucked into the giant machine. The filthy little Deflators scurry like rats up small ladders and enter the main cabin of the behemoth transport.]
INT. CARDCRAWLER - HOLD AREA
[It is dim inside the holding area of the Cardcrawler. KOE switches on a small floodlight on his forehead and stumbles around the scrap heap. The narrow beam swings across rusty metal rocket parts and an array of grotesquely twisted and maimed astro-robots. He lets out a pathetic electronic whimper and stumbles off toward what appears to be a door at the end of the chamber.]
INT. CARDCRAWLER - PRISON AREA
[KOE enters a wide room with a four-foot ceiling. In the middle of the scrap heap sit a dozen or so robots of various shapes and sizes. Some are engaged in electronic conversation, while others simply mill about. A voice of recognition calls out from the gloom.]
NAIS: KOE? KOE! It is you! It is you!
[A battered NAIS scrambles up to KOE and embraces him.]
EXT. TATOOINE - ROCK CANYON - CARDCRAWLER - SUNSET
[The enormous Cardcrawler lumbers off toward the magnificent twin suns, which are slowly setting over a distant mountain ridge.]
EXT. TATOOINE - DESERT - DAY
[Four Callistan tsartroopers mill about in front of the half-buried lifepod that brought KOE and NAIS to Tatooine. A trooper yells to an officer some distance away.]
First Tsartrooper: Someone was in the pod. The tracks go off in this direction.
[A second tsartrooper picks a small bit of metal out of the sand and gives it to the first tsartrooper.]
Second Tsartrooper: Look, sir -- droids.
EXT. TATOOINE - DUNES
[The Cardcrawler moves slowly down a great sand dune.]
INT. CARDCRAWLER
[NAIS and KOE noisily bounce along inside the cramped prison chamber. KOE appears to be shut off.]
NAIS: Wake up! Wake up!
[Suddenly the shaking and bouncing of the Cardcrawler stops, creating quite a commotion among the mechanical men. NAIS’s fist bangs the head of KOE whose computer lights pop on as he begins beeping. At the far end of the long chamber a hatch opens, filling the chamber with blinding white light. a dozen or so Deflators make their way through the odd assortment of robots.]
NAIS: We’re doomed.
[A Deflator starts moving toward them.]
NAIS: Do you think they’ll melt us down?
[KOE responds, making beeping sounds.]
NAIS: Don’t shoot! Don’t shoot! Will this never end?
EXT. TATOOINE - DESERT - NOVA HOMESTEAD - AFTERNOON
[The Deflators mutter gibberish as they busily line up their battered captives, including KOE and NAIS, in front of the enormous Cardcrawler, which is parked beside a small homestead consisting of three large holes in the ground surrounded by several tall moisture vaporators and one small adobe block house. The Deflators scurry around fussing over the robots, straightening them up or brushing some dust from a dented metallic elbow. The shrouded little creatures smell horribly, attracting small insects to the dark areas when their mouths and nostrils should be. Out of the shadows of a dingy side-building limps Terra Nova, a large burly man in his mid-fifties. His reddish eyes are sunken in a dust-covered face. As the farmer carefully inspects each robot, he is closely followed by his slump- shouldered nephew, Baloo. One of the vile little Deflators walks ahead of the farmer spouting an animated sales pitch in a queer, unintelligible language. A voice calls out from one of the huge holes that form the homestead. Baloo goes over to the edge and sees his Dollystana standing in the main courtyard.]
Dollystana: Baloo, tell Terra Nova that if he gets a translator to be sure it speaks NSG.
Baloo: It looks like we don’t have much of a choice but I’ll remind him.
[Baloo returns to his uncle as they look over the equipment for sale with the Deflator leader.]
Terra Nova: I have no need for a protocol droid.
NAIS: (quickly) Sir -- not in an environment such as this -- that’s why I’ve also been programmed for over thirty secondary functions that…
Terra Nova: What I really need is a droid that understands the binary language of moisture vaporators.
NAIS: Vaporators! Sir -- My first job was programming binary load lifter… very similar to your vaporators. You could say…
Terra Nova: Do you speak NSG?
NAIS: Of course I can, sir. It’s like a second language for me… I’m as fluent in NSG.
NAIS: All right shut up! (turning to Deflator) I’ll take this one.
NAIS: Shutting up, sir.
Terra Nova: Baloo, take these two over to the garage, will you? I want you to have both of them cleaned up before dinner.
Baloo: But I was going into Koishi Station to pick up some power converters…
Terra Nova: You can waste time with your friends when your chores are done. Now come on, get to it!
Baloo: All right, come on! And the red one, come on. Well, come on, Red, let’s go.
[As the Deflators start to lead the three remaining robots back into the Cardcrawler, KOE lets out a pathetic little beep and starts after his old friend NAIS. He is restrained by a slimy Deflator, who zaps him with a control box. Terra Nova is negotiating with the head Deflator. Baloo and the two robots start off for the garage when a plate pops off the head of the red astro-droid’s head plate and it sparks wildly.]
Baloo: Uncle Nova…
Terra Nova: Yeah?
Baloo: This K-O unit has a bad motivator. Look!
Terra Nova: (to the head Deflator) Hey, what’re you trying to push on us?
[The Deflator goes into a loud spiel. Meanwhile, KOE has sneaked out of line and is moving up and down trying to attract attention. He lets out with a low whistle. NAIS taps Baloo on the shoulder.]
NAIS: (pointing to KOE) Excuse me, sir, but that K-O unit is in prime condition. A real bargain.
Baloo: Uncle Nova…
Terra Nova: Yeah?
Baloo What about that one?
Terra Nova: (to Deflator) What about that blue one? We’ll take that one.
[With a little reluctance the scruffy dwarf trades the damaged astro-droid for KOE.]
Baloo: Yeah, take it away.
NAIS: Uh, I’m quite sure you’ll be very pleased with that one, sir. He really is in first-class condition. I’ve worked with him before. Here he comes.
[Terra Nova pays off the whining Deflator as Baloo and the two robots trudge off toward a grimy homestead entry.]
Baloo: Okay, let’s go.
NAIS: (to KOE) Now, don’t you forget this! Why I should stick my neck out for you is quite beyond my capacity!
INT. NOVA HOMESTEAD - GARAGE AREA - LATE AFTERNOON
[The garage is cluttered and worn, but a friendly peaceful atmosphere permeates the low grey chamber. NAIS lowers himself into a large tub filled with warm oil. Near the battered Landspeeder little KOE rests on a large battery with a cord to his face.]
NAIS: Thank the maker! This oil bath is going to feel so good. I’ve got such a bad case of dust contamination, I can barely move!
[KOE beeps a muffled reply. Baloo seems to be lost in thought as he runs his hand over the damaged fin of a small two-man Skyhopper spaceship resting in a low hangar off the garage. Finally Baloo’s frustrations get the better of him and he slams a wrench across the workbench.]
Baloo: It just isn’t fair. Oh, Mongo is right. I’m never gonna get out of here!
NAIS: Is there anything I might do to help?
[Baloo glances at the battered robot. A bit of his anger drains and a tiny smile creeps across his face.]
Baloo: Well, not unless you can alter time, speed up the harvest, or teleport me off this rock!
NAIS: I don’t think so, sir. I’m only a droid and not very knowledgeable about such things. Not in this region, anyways. As a matter of fact, I’m not even sure which region I’m in.
Baloo: Well, if there’s a bright center to the universe, you’re in the region that it’s farthest from.
NAIS: I see, sir.
Baloo: Uh, you can call me Baloo.
NAIS: I see, sir Baloo.
Baloo: (laughing) Just Baloo.
NAIS: And I am NA-IS, human-cyborg relations, and this is my counterpart, KOE.
Baloo: Hello.
[KOE beeps in response. Baloo unplugs KOE and begins to scrape several connectors on the robot’s head with a chrome pick. NAIS climbs out of the oil tub and begins wiping oil from his bronze body.]
Baloo: You got a lot of carbon scoring here. It looks like you boys have seen a lot of action.
NAIS: With all we’ve been through, sometimes I’m amazed we’re in as good condition as we are, what with the Bluecrownites and all.
Baloo: You know of the Rebellion against the Callistan Empire?
NAIS: That’s how we came to be in your service, if you take my meaning, sir.
Baloo: Have you been in many battles?
NAIS: Several, I think. Actually, there’s not much to tell. I’m not much more than an interpreter, and not very good at telling stories. Well, not at making them interesting, anyways.
[Baloo struggles to remove a small metal fragment from KOE’s neck joint. He uses a larger pick.]
Baloo: Well, my little friend, you’ve got something jammed in here real good. Were you on a cruiser or…
[The fragment breaks loose with a snap, sending Baloo tumbling head over heels. He sits up and sees a twelve-inch three-dimensional hologram of The Gold Mines, the Bluecrownite senator, being projected from the face of little KOE. The image is a rainbow of colors as it flickers and jiggles in the dimly lit garage. Baloo’s mouth hangs open in awe.]
The Gold Mines: Help me, Kirby. You’re my only hope.
Baloo: What’s this?
[KOE looks around and sheepishly beeps an answer for NAIS to translate. The Gold Mines continues to repeat the sentence fragment over and over.]
NAIS: What is what?!? He asked you a question… (pointing to The Gold Mines) What is that?
[KOE whistles his surprise as he pretends to just notice the hologram. He looks around and sheepishly beeps an answer for NAIS to translate. The Gold Mines continues to repeat the sentence fragment over and over.]
The Gold Mines: Help me, Kirby. You’re my only hope. Help me, Kirby. You’re my only hope.
NAIS: Oh, he says it’s nothing, sir. Merely a malfunction. Old data. Pay it no mind.
[Baloo becomes intrigued by the beautiful girl.]
Baloo: Who is she? She’s beautiful.
NAIS I’m afraid I’m not quite sure, sir.
The Gold Mines: Help me, Kirby…
NAIS: I think she was a passenger on our last voyage. A person of some importance, sir -- I believe. Our captain was attached to…
Baloo: Is there more to this recording?
[Baloo reaches out for KOE but he lets out several frantic squeaks and a whistle.]
NAIS: Behave yourself, KOE. You’re going to get us in trouble. It’s all right, you can trust him. He’s our new master.
[KOE whistles and beeps a long message to NAIS.]
NAIS: He says he’s the property of Kirby, a resident of these parts. And it’s a private message for him. Quite frankly, sir I don’t know what he’s talking about. Our last master was Captain SCPF, but with what we’ve been through, this little K-O unit has become a bit eccentric.
Baloo: Kirby? I wonder if he means old man Kirb?
NAIS: I beg your pardon, sir, but do you know what he’s talking about?
Baloo: Well, I don’t know anyone named Kirby, but old Kirb lives out beyond the dune sea. He’s kind of a strange old hermit.
[Baloo’s gazes at the beautiful young princess for a few moments.]
Baloo: I wonder who she is. It sounds like she’s in trouble. I’d better play back the whole thing.
[KOE beeps something to NAIS.]
NAIS: He says the restraining bolt has short circuited his recording system. He suggests that if you remove the bolt, he might be able to play back the entire recording.
[Baloo looks longingly at the lovely, little princess and hasn’t really heard what NAIS has been saying.]
Baloo: H’m? Oh, yeah, well, I guess you’re too small to run away on me if I take this off! Okay.
[Baloo takes a wedged bar and pops the restraining bolt off KOE’s side.]
Baloo: There you go.
[The princess immediately disappears…]
Baloo: Well, wait a minute. Where’d she go? Bring her back! Play back the entire message.
[KOE beeps an innocent reply as NAIS sits up in embarrassment.]
NAIS: What message? The one you’re carrying inside your rusty innards!
[A woman's voice calls out from another room.]
Dollystana: Baloo? Baloo! Come to dinner!
[Baloo stands up and shakes his head at the malfunctioning robot.]
Baloo: All right, I’ll be right there, Aunt Dollystana.
NAIS: I’m sorry, sir, but he appears to have picked up a slight flutter.
[Baloo tosses KOE’s restraining bolt on the workbench and hurries out of the room.]
Baloo: Well, see what you can do with him. I’ll be right back.
NAIS: (to KOE) Just you reconsider playing that message for him.
[KOE beeps in response.]
NAIS: No, I don’t think he likes you at all.
[KOE beeps.]
NAIS: No, I don’t like you either.
INT. NOVA HOMESTEAD - DINING AREA
[Baloo’s Aunt Dollystana, a warm, motherly woman, fills a pitcher with blue fluid from a refrigerated container in the well- used kitchen. She puts the pitcher on a tray with some bowls of food and starts for the dining area. Baloo sits with his Uncle Nova before a table covered with steaming bowls of food as Aunt Dollystana carries in a bowl of red grain.]
Baloo: You know, I think that K-O unit we bought might have been stolen.
Terra Nova: What makes you think that?
Baloo: Well, I stumbled across a recording while I was cleaning him. He says he belongs to someone called Kirby.
[Terra Nova is greatly alarmed at the mention of his name, but manages to control himself.]
Baloo: I thought he might have meant old Kirb. Do you know what he’s talking about? Well, I wonder if he’s related to Kirb.
[Terra Nova breaks loose with a fit of uncontrolled anger.]
Terra Nova: That old man’s just a crazy old wizard. Tomorrow I want you to take that K-O unit into Moorhead and have its memory flushed. That’ll be the end of it. It belongs to us now.
Baloo: But what if this Kirby comes looking for him?
Terra Nova: He won’t, I don’t think he exists any more. He died about the same time as your father.
Baloo: He knew my father?
Terra Nova: I told you to forget it. Your only concern is to prepare the new droids for tomorrow. In the morning I want them on the south ridge working out those condensers.
Baloo: Yes, sir. I think those new droids are going to work out fine. In fact, I, uh, was also thinking about our agreement about my staying on another season. And if these new droids do work out, I want to transmit my application to the Callistan Academy this year.
[Terra Nova’s face becomes a scowl, although he tries to suppress it.]
Terra Nova: You mean the next semester before harvest?
Baloo: Sure, there’re more than enough droids.
Terra Nova: Harvest is when I need you the most. Only one more season. This year we’ll make enough on the harvest so I’ll be able to hire some more hands. And then you can go to the Callistan Academy next year.
[Baloo continues to toy with his food, not looking at his uncle.]
Terra Nova: You must understand I need you here, Baloo.
Baloo: But it’s a whole ‘nother year.
Terra Nova: Look, it’s only one more season.
[Baloo pushes his half-eaten plate of food aside and stands.]
Baloo: Yeah, that’s what you said last year when Mongo left.
Dollystana: Where are you going?
Baloo: It looks like I’m going nowhere. I have to finish cleaning those droids.
[Resigned to his fate, Baloo paddles out of the room. Terra Nova mechanically finishes his dinner.]
Dollystana: Terra, he can’t stay here forever. Most of his friends have gone. It means so much to him.
Terra Nova: I’ll make it up to him next year. I promise.
Dollystana: Baloo’s just not a farmer, Terra. He has too much of his father in him.
Terra Nova: That’s what I’m afraid of.
EXT. TATOOINE - NOVA HOMESTEAD
[The giant twin suns of Tatooine slowly disappear behind a distant dune range. Baloo stands watching them for a few moments, then reluctantly enters the doomed entrance to the homestead.]
INT. NOVA HOMESTEAD - GARAGE
[Baloo enters the garage to discover the robots nowhere in sight. He takes a small control box from his utility belt similar to the one the Deflators were carrying. He activates the box, which creates a low hum, and NAIS, letting out a short yell, pops up from behind the Skyhopper spaceship.]
Baloo: What are you doing hiding there?
[NAIS stumbles forward, but KOE is still nowhere in sight.]
NAIS: It wasn’t my fault, sir. Please don’t deactivate me. I told him not to go, but he’s faulty, malfunctioning; kept babbling on about his mission.
Baloo: Oh, no!
[Baloo races out of the garage followed by NAIS.]
