Prime Minister Fernando Torii has indicated his administration's support for The Protocol on International Emergency Communications, and has instructed the Wagain UCP Ambassador to vote AYE. It is the belief of our government that a dedicated hotline network will greatly help to reduce the chance of an accidental act of war, and thus is imperative as a service to global peace. In addition, our ambassador has recommended the establishment of a backup cable, which would continue to function if the primary was damaged. Both cables would be regularly tested to ensure clear and instantaneous communication.

In a highly controversial move, Emperor Thorseus Jackson vetoed any government support for UCP Resolution 1994 I, stating that there was "never any serious threat of conflict" during the crisis, and that even if there was, that the "Malian bastards" wouldn't dare open fire on the "greatest fleet to ever travel the waves". The Imperial Senate voted to override the Emperor's veto, with the Constitutional-Liberalist coalition voting in favor and the Aturorists largely voting against; while they had nothing against a de-escalation hotline, this was mostly a protest vote for the Aturorists, as they viewed it necessary for Orson to stand firm and never back down on the international arena, lest the entire Empire be perceived as weak. This was especially important with the heightened tensions between the loyalists and the Separatist Alliance, and the continuous failures to negotiate a peace settlement and reunite the country; every bit of prestige Orson could gain helped.

Prime Minister Andrianaivo has fully supported the resolution in spite of the Emperor, stating that all means of de-escalation were vital in preventing the outbreak of the Third World War, and expressing regret for the government's conduct during the crisis. As a show of gratitude, Crown Prince Turner Jackson has been charged with making a personal visit to the UCP Headquarters in Santa Catalina and cast the vote (as the Orsonian Ambassador is currently on leave). Turner, despite being a leading figure among the Aturorists, has agreed to take a break from his duties as Governor of New Guinea and do this, viewing it as a conciliatory move to maintain world peace.

After arriving in Santa Catalina, Turner made a short speech before the General Assembly:

"It is with the complete endorsement of Prime Minister Andrianaivo and the Imperial Senate that I, representing the Orson Empire cast my vote in favor of Resolution 1994 I. Furthermore, the Imperial government wishes to issue an apology for our conduct during the Gulf of Guinea Crisis. Tensions are currently extraordinarily high throughout our regime due to our own internal Separatist Crisis, with many predicting the outbreak of full-scale civil war. Though we maintain hope of avoiding such horrors, we prepare nonetheless, and such sentiments are greatest in the Imperial Military. This has led to us making a series of irrational decisions where cooler heads would have easily defused the situation. We want the world to know that Orson will remain a cooperative international partner adhering to the rules of law, and that we do not seek to break the long peace of the last 50 years."

Sultan Abdullah Al-Bashir II and the Mamaran UCP Delegation have reviewed the proposed resolution and are happy to announce their support of the passing of the UCP Resolution 1994 I and the Mamaran UCP Ambassador (with full support of the delegation and Sultan Abdullah), are pleased to vote AYE in favor of 1994 I.

Mamaran UCP Ambassador (At the time), Antonio De Caruso, following giving the AYE vote, approached the podium in front of the General Assembly to give a small speech, following the speech of Orsonian Crown Prince, Turner Jackson.

"Fellow representatives of the UCP and guest dignitaries; with the blessing of His Imperial Excellency, Sultan Abdullah Al-Bashir, I happily and humbly may state that the Exalted Mamaran Empire,
stand ready to not only support the passing of UCP Resolution 1994 I, but wish to extend that we will support the creation of the de-escalation hotline and any other backup cables that may be created as well, in anyways we can possibly do so.

His Imperial Excellency, wished for me to bring up the importance of a previous, near catastrophic event, which occurred not twenty years ago, that may have quite literally ended in nuclear fire. As some may know, between the years of 1970-1974, the Mamaran and Orsonian territories of Pakistan and India, embarked on a grueling and bloody armed conflict, which is now commonly referred to as the "Kashmir War" or "Kashmir Conflict". It was that very conflict that this very resolution stands to help avoid in the future. From a small border dispute to suddenly having nuclear weapons be deployed to such a volatile region, is exactly what could happen in these types of international crisis especially at any given time.

Had the UCP not intervened, who knows what unimaginable things may have occurred? If such, a tool, such as the proposed emergency communication hotlines, had existed back then, than I am certain, that the small border dispute would not have at all turned nuclear and put the entirety of the international community at risk.

I for one, believe that history is the greatest teacher of all. And I wish for everyone in these esteemed halls, to learn from this tragic event, as well as many others that have lead to great catastrophe over time, to realize the importance that this Protocol on International Emergency Communications can provide us, to help us learn from history, so we may assist each other in the present, to ensure a safe and brighter future. I Thank you for your time."

Year: 1994 (After the Gulf of Guinea Crisis between West Africa and the Orson Empire)
Prime Minister Oumar Sangare has made a visit to the UCP headquarters in Santa Catalina and has personally brought the following proposal to vote on the floor:

UCP Resolution 1994 I - On the establishment of the Protocol on International Emergency Communications

The United Council of Peoples,

Recognizes the risks to Global Peace and Prosperity from time critical crises.

Understands that modern communications infrastructure is vital for the conduct of diplomacy in a timely manner.

Alarmed by the difficulties presented by crises of a time critical nature in allowing for diplomatic solutions and present large increases in risk of war over miscommunication in such situations.

Resolves itself to make necessary steps to create communications infrastructure necessary to navigate these kinds of crises in a way that is consistent with the UCP Charter.

Acknowledges the sovereignty of the Member States of the UCP and creates room for individual member states to approach their own solutions to these issues if they elect to do so.

Establishes The Protocol on International Emergency Communications as an optional protocol of the UCP Charter.

Restricts the Protocol on International Emergency Communications's obligations to only apply to it's signatories and not to the overall UCP Membership.

Grants De-escalation hotlines from the Protocol on International Emergency Communications the same protections under international law afforded to UCP assets, this protection binding by this resolution to the full UCP membership and not solely to the signatories of the Protocol on International Emergency Communications.

--(This is where the resolution itself ends, and where the Protocol itself begins. The Protocol is an optional treaty that will come into existence if the resolution is passed, and only binds to those nations that specifically sign it.)--

The Protocol on International Emergency Communications,

Mandates signatories to establish direct lines of communication between their own head of state and head of government and the heads of state and government of all other signatories

Further Mandates signatories to cooperate in good faith with the establishment of these direct lines of communication

Designates the term "De-escalation hotline" to apply to these direct lines of communication as mandated by this protocol for it's signatories, providing the protections afforded by Resolution 1994 I - "On the establishment of the Protocol on International Emergency Communications" to these direct lines of communication.

Clarifies that De-escalation hotlines as mandated by this protocol are comprised of multiple individual bilateral hotlines and are not a single integrated network and are built, maintained, and operated by the two nations connected by each individual hotline.

Further Clarifies that these hotlines are in place primarily for de-escalation of a crisis, but subjects discussed on these hotlines are left to the sole discretion of the relevant leaders discussing subjects over these hotlines. It is however, encouraged that the usage of these hotlines in non-crisis situations is kept to a minimum to prevent degrading the apparent urgency in answering the hotline.

Establishes the International Emergency Communications Committee, which will have delegates of all signatories and will meet every 4 years to discuss potential modernization of these lines of communication as technologies progress or to discuss possible amendments to the protocol.

Representative Whaite has agreed to this proposal, and voted in favor of it.

(I imagine Whaite has been the first and only UCP Representative since the appointment of a Cybusian representative to the UCP.)

As a result, Whaite is probably technically the most experienced UCP representative and would probably be the most astute politically, due to many decades of experience. But because I’m not a particularly politically clever person, that’s not actually the case.

(looking pretty unanimous here, this passing will surely play an important role in making it so Sangare remains Prime Minister with the credit of him seeming to have fulfilled his campaign promise in 1992 to end the cold war with the Orsonians. Allowing him to weather the blow to his reputation from inaction in the Goa Crisis in 1995 and make it through the 1996 and 2000 elections before finally being defeated in 2004 by Miriam Camara's campaign to revive the old alliances and oppose the Aturorists.)

2021 Summer Olympics: Day Five Competition Report

Daily Champion: Santa Lucija (4 gold, 2 silver, 0 bronze)

Among the wooden walkways and bright tropical foliage of Aozihdi Forest Park, crowds gathered this morning to watch the highly-anticipated opening of the 3x3 Basketball tournament. One of several new disciplines this year, 3x3 basketball involves smaller teams and faster, more dynamic gameplay, with little room for error. Santa Lucija and Formosa proved dominant in both the men's and women's contest, showcasing the explosive young talent of two nations where basketball is quickly becoming a favorite sport. At Kaohsiung's nearby harborfront, Cycling debuted its time trials event, in which athletes complete individual speed runs of a punishing 26km urban course. Once again, African cyclists crowded out the podium, with West Africa's Tenin Cissoko and Emmanuel Macalou continuing their country's impressive streak in the sport.

The launch of the popular Gymnastics program proved fortuitous for the Lucijan team, who entered the games as strong favorites in the sport. Gymnasts Irina Kundius and Andrey Yudin lived up to the high expectations, earning back-to-back golds in trampoline and lending the Lucijans strong momentum heading into the upcoming all-around contests. In both of the afternoon's Equestrian and Fencing contests, the Cybusians demonstrated flawless technique, defending their earlier success in both sports. Women's middleweight Judo brought the first Timmian gold of the day, while its men's counterpart saw judoka Khusen Khalmurzaev echo his brother Khasan's surprise victory, becoming the first sibling pair to medal in the games.

The start of Rowing at Wushantou Reservoir witnessed strong performances from the Orsonian team, who medaled in all four of the day's events. The Wagains proved a commanding presence in Surfing, clinching both gold medals beside the black volcanic sands of Donghe Beach. The final competition of the evening was once again in the Triathlon program, this time in the first ever mixed relay event. Despite strong performances from the West Africans and Orsonians in this four-person sprint format, the Timmies maintained their lead to clinch the gold and close out the night.

Most Gold Medals Overall: Mamaran Empire (14)
Most Total Medals Overall: Timmian Confederation (53)

All contests can be viewed in detail on this factbook.

OOC: I've been hinting at the pre-release of the next day's rankings for some time, so let me know how you feel about the following outlook. If you enjoy being able to preview where your athletes have the best chances, I'll continue releasing these outlooks when I post results. If you'd rather be surprised, or find that it just clutters the RMB, I'll continue posting results alone. Keep in mind that these are just the top five prospects of 8-12 overall competitors, so it's still very possible for outsiders to medal or even win (especially if it's in a 'specialty sport' one of you nominated).

The two Inquisitors continued to relentlessly pummel the Sultan with perfect precision, fully engrossed in battle telepathy and an attack pattern that may have been untenable to counter for any normal human. The Sultan did fail the counter the attacks, at least for a time; more and more pieces of the AECS continued to be shredded off, exposing his vulnerable body underneath, while countless gashes and bruises were inflicted upon his skin. Andres bled heavily, and while he was far more capable than any normal human, even he wouldn't be able to withstand the assault for much longer. The Sultan had to act, and fortunately spotted a vulnerability in the attack pattern. With ruthless efficiency of his own, Andres acted. He roared, first knocking Gen's tendrils away from him, then grabbing the Inquisitor and slamming him straight into Garm. As she was thrown violently into the grass, Andres then lifted Gen into the air by his throat and slammed him down hard enough to form a crater in the dirt. This all happened quickly enough that Gen couldn't react in time, and was disoriented, and Andres was able to do it a second time. Finally, the Sultan had Garm right where he wanted him, and prepared to deliver the killing blow.

Just as he activated the impact recoil shield and swung it forward, Agent Garm recovered from her blow and arrived at the last minute, blindsiding Andres. She punched the shield so hard that chunks of it flew through the air, possibly destroying the device outright. A split second later, Garm grabbed Andres's right arm, releasing Gen from the stranglehold and twisted the arm in a bid to break it. Gen then took the opportunity to rip out a huge chunk of the Sultan's chest plate with his tendrils, exposing the unprotected chest and then bashed it hard with both fists, seeking to break his ribs. Mere moments later, the agents switched positions; Garm began to batter Andres's legs, while Gen ripped a piece of armor off of his back and began pummeling his spine.

"YOU. WILL. NEVER. HAVE HER!!!" Gen shouted in the midst of each punch. Finally, Garm shifted behind Andres alongside Gen. The summer the fullest strength they could muster, and using their tendrils, arms, and legs, they hit the Sultan with enough force to send him several dozen meters away into the nearby trees.

With the Sultan seemingly defeated, both agents stopped for a moment to catch their breath. Gen collapsed to the ground- his rage state was now fully worn off, and he felt very weak and drained, while Garm was also rapidly losing her powers. Garm walked over towards Gen and bent down, concerned about his status.

"Agent Gen! Agent Gen! Dorran, it's me!" Garm yelled, calling Gen by his first name.

"Mara...go. You must...go. Finish the operation. Secure...Liberty," Gen weakly said. Garm paused for a moment, and then looked up. She could see the helicopters appearing over the horizon, while DGSI agents were gathering and assembling several hundred meters away. Reluctantly, she nodded and then sprinting off, having to abandon yet another comrade to his fate.

Garm would move towards and then grab the Princess, who was still unconscious at this point. She desperately dragged Amira away, hoping she could find some sort of hiding spot away from the encroaching personnel.

"Live from Phoenix Studios in our magnificent capital of Constantinople, please welcome your host, the one and only...CARL LINGERTON!"

the cameras soon pan over the broadcast desk as the lights turn on, revealing the breath taking background of Constantinople during the afternoon, as well as the beloved familiar face of the voice of the Mamaran Empire, Carl Lingerton as he neatly organized his papers

"Hello and good afternoon to everyone across the Mamaran Empire, and welcome back to Phoenix Sun News (PSN), I am your host, Carl Lingerton, here to give you your afternoon news and updates. Let's jut straight into it." He said as the camera zoomed straight to him, showing a picture of the Mamaran General Assembly in session.

"First on our agenda; the highly anticipated public health and first respond proposal that has been brought to the floor of the General Assembly earlier last week, has finally passed voting in both houses of the General Assembly, with the majority vote, needed to push it into effect. Grand Vizier Kâmil Pasha, President of the General Assembly, has stated earlier today following the passing of the Public Health and First Respond Proposal, and i quote, "This is is a tremendous step towards ensuring the health and well-being, of not just our citizens today, but for all our citizens in the future, both near and distant." end quote."

Carl soon turned back to the camera and smiled. "For those who do not know, with this proposal having passed, it will now send the following protocols into effect," He said as a small bullet-point list appeared on the screen.

-Fully stock first aid kits and AEDS (Automated external defibrillators), will now be posted at major locations across towns and cities of the Empire, with major civilian foot traffic (i.e. bus stops, metro/subway terminals, stores and major shopping centers, banks, etc), to ensure that rapid response to citizens in medical need, may receive first aid on the stop, which will increase the chances of live and or reducing risk of further injury, until medical personnel can arrive.

-CPR, First Aid and AED training will now become MANDATORY for all Mamaran citizens, ages 16 and above. Students at secondary schools and university, as well as employees at companies, must now attend mandatory, government paid CPR, First Aid and AED training classes and pass the tests, before becoming certified. Mandatory re-certification/refresher courses, will also be held every several years, to renew and refresh citizens on the basic fundamentals of first aid and CPR, as well as in the use of AEDs.

-COVID-19 testing and vaccinations will be made mandatory for all Mamaran citizens (unless medically exempt with a prior proven medical condition that prohibits the administration of a vaccine), but will also be free of charge, as all expenses will be covered by the Mamaran Government. Citizens, who currently are not vaccinated, are currently exempt from long distance travels in the forms of air, sea or rail, until they receive their vaccination papers. If a citizen refuses to receive a vaccination within a appropriate amount of time (unless medically exempt), will potentially face fines and or even jail time. This maybe an extreme measure, but it is a necessary action to ensure the health and well-being of the citizens of the Exalted Mamaran Empire, both in the present and future.

"Now the last part about the covid vaccinations may seem a bit extreme...i know many of you are scared or panicked about the vaccine. You're scared of it possibly be some sort of poison...or some type of government tracking serum, But i assure you, there is no need to panic. This....pandemic....has crippled the world as we once knew and love. Loved ones have been taken away from us, social gatherings have been kept to a minimum, and even now this virus, even after a year of existing, still continues to plague the world." Carl said, growing a bit somber and serious. "Please...the front line healthcare workers, medical researchers and emergency personnel have sacrificed so much, in trying to treat you and create these vaccines and so many have made the ultimate sacrifice to this virus, because they didn't have access to the vaccine. Please, do your part, do as instructed and please go to your nearest vaccination station, and get vaccinated." Carl finished off his statement nodding and returning back to his regular self, facing the camera again.

"Now stay tuned for our next upcoming segment where we answer some of life's biggest questions; Is a hotdog a sandwich? Is cereal technically a soup? The answers may shock you. Stay tuned to find out after these messages!" He said as the camera soon zoomed out and went to commercial...

(OOC: Just a few little notes:
Grand Vizier: Is actually the older Islamic equivalent of Prime Minister, it is a big title used back in the Ottoman and Persian Empires, and regular Ministers were simply called Viziers.

The General Assembly of the Mamaran Empire, is actually our version of parliament. It is made up of two houses; the Senate (Upper house) and Chamber of Deputies (Lower House). I just wanted to introduce this, since i haven't really talked about it much and decided to touch on it a bit.

Finally...i know this story may not seem as humorous as i typically do, but due to my lack of covid/pandemic posts, i decided to finally make something on it covering the topic. I hope you guys like this post at least!)

Excellent work Orson, Andrew, and Novo!
I’m loving your RP, it’s very exciting to read through! Sounds like Andres might need some Cybusian docs to patch him up after this...
Always great to see more Carl Lingerton! The original EOA talk show host, he’s a figure I’ve grown to like quite a lot. It’s nice seeing him be more serious and restrained for once, but then jump back into comedy.
And, as always, excellent work on the Olympics Novo! I love your descriptions because they blend the scenery with the scores. And I’m glad to see we might finally get a gold in shooting!
Funnily enough, I’m eating Wagain tonight. :p There’s a yummy Mexican place in town, Monterrey’s.

Interesting Fact:
The Confederation's healthcare law doesn't explicitly use the qualifier "Citizens", so under our legal precedents in our courts, our healthcare laws apply to literally anyone in our territory.

The Government however, did implement a policy for healthcare facilities to separate out costs they charge to the government between Citizens and Non-citizens. Costs for both are paid off by the government, but officially anything charged for the treatment of a non-citizen is classified as a Foreign Aid payment (To "International" as the charges sent do not contain anything more identifying than citizen and non-citizen, similarly to how we note down foreign aid funds being dedicated to the UCP or for international humanitarian organizations) so it comes out of a different part of the budget than the health budget.

So legally we classify providing healthcare to foreigners visiting our country as us giving foreign aid to the whole international community.

Thanks Cybus! I really am glad that you're enjoying it so much! I am as well, but i think your observation is correct; Andres may definitely need some serious medical attention after this...call Dr. Koeing and Thaddeus! Tell em that they have a familiar patient coming back!!
And thanks again. It is always nice to bring him back, and even better when everyone else likes to have him back too! And it definitely is. I decided that i needed to have a good balance between comedy and seriousness with Carl, to try and make it a bit more realistic. On top of that, i actually wanted to introduce that proposal, but didn't know how to announce it to the region, so i decided that anytime i need/want to do something like that, i am most likely just gonna have good ole' Carl Lingerton report about it and either make it somewhat comedic or serious, depending on the delivery of it.
And oooooh sounds good! Wagain food is popular in this side of Texas. I actually ate some last night :P

A very interesting fact indeed Oceara! And the way your Government and healthcare facilities are able to not only classify citizens and non-citizens, but able to provide all of them with adequate free medical care, from two separate budgets, due to the non-citizens being counted as foreign/international aid is actually a very clever tactic.

So in this way, i would imagine that if a debate over healthcare broke out between West African leaders, the fact is that the Healthcare budget is only for citizens, while the foreign citizens are treated with the foreign/international aid funds. A very nice touch. I myself was looking for a way to expand my own Empire's healthcare system a bit (as you see with my post above), and i wanted to cover foreign and dual citizens as well, but didn't know how to approach it. Would you allow the Mamaran Empire to perhaps adopt a similar idea, set up by your nation, so we can establish a similar system for non-citizens? (i just wanna ask, so you don't think i will try and copy-right your system).

I agree; Carl Lingerton is always a welcome sight. He must be one of the oldest supporting characters in the EOA, in the same league as Koenig and Dana. And thank you for your comments! I do try to bring the games to life with the descriptions, though of course Fel has done far more with his excellent posts on the opening ceremonies and the rich symbolism behind everything from the logo to the merchandise.

And I would be remiss if I didn't wish you a lovely meal at your local Wagain eatery. I myself had Nando's for dinner, which I suppose is Orsonian, as it hails from South Africa.

Yeah, I mean we'd probably have a fair amount of overlap in policies even if we still are very different countries from our long standing trade and cooperation on the international level.

How we handle it is that our facilities provide all treatment the patient consents to have, they add up the costs, mark it as either citizen or non-citizen. Then add up all the citizen costs and all the non-citizen costs within a 1 month period for their monthly report back to the government. The government then pays the facility the tallied amounts from the relevant budgets (either health or foreign aid)

This way the government doesn't have the ability to discriminate based upon the precise treatments given to patients, or based on any exact identifying characteristics of the individual patients. Since citizens of well-liked friendly nations would also be put under the umbrella of "Non-citizen" costs, there'd be friendly fire as it were if there was an attempt to discriminate to not pay for the non-citizen costs more generally. (Which with how powerful the electorate is here, making unpopular moves that outrage large segments of the population is a particularly dangerous move politically for government officials)

EDIT: They also report an "Operating Costs" number, which covers their wages and whatnot.

Grand Secretary Biala Aven, the Executive Director of the Ministry of State Security, and various other high-ranking MOSS leadership alongside members of the Imperial Council have sent a clandestine message to Andrew Ryan, founder of Ryan Industries and leader of the underwater city of Rapture. They wish to make a deal with Ryan by purchasing a single Ryan Industries Vita-chamber, no questions asked. Despite is being illegal in Orson to trade with the Cybusian Empire, the importance of the Vita-chamber is so significant that they are willing to pay Ryan an immense sum to approve the sale, and perhaps even reverse restrictions on trade with Rapture. All they request is that no announcements of the deal are made to the media, and that the Vita-chamber is shipped in pieces rather than fully assembled to avert suspicion.

Rural Bahia

Even without the watchful eye of Horus and the accompanying helicopters, it was hardly difficult to locate the two remaining inquisitors. Their bitter melee with the Sultan had quite literally formed a new clearing in the forest, littered with snapped trees and enveloped by a growing cloud of dust. Sensing that the Orsonians were now weaning off their amphetamine-driven rage states, the helicopters circled in low, producing a powerful downdraft which only kicked up additional foliage into a vortex of wind. The pilot of the first helicopter was able to just make out the downed figure of Agent Gen, who appeared utterly exhausted from the fighting but was otherwise alive. Footage was relayed instantly to the emergency operations center in Santa Catalina, where the Prime Minister would have the ultimate call.

"Sir, the agent appears to be on his last legs. He won't pose much of a problem from this point onward; we have an opportunity to capture him, but we can just as easily waste him."

The Prime Minister paused for a moment and took a few measured breaths. It was difficult to believe the bruised, beaten figure on his monitor had just minutes before been the most powerful warrior on the continent, indiscriminately killing and maiming the Wagains sent to bring him to justice. His was a personal sense of vengeance — a deep, roiling anger that he could not have done more, that the ultimate sacrifice had been made of too many men today.

Between gritted teeth, Barrachina uttered just one word: "alive."

Within seconds, DGSI agents donning full tactical armor and brandishing plasma rifles emerged from the woods around the downed Orsonian, their orders barely audible over the purring of the helicopter's rotors. Utterly exhausted, he was shoved onto his stomach as his wrists and ankles were bound with specialty cuffs, finally apprehended by the state he had dedicated his career to undermining. Under close supervision, Agent Gen was dragged away from the clearing, to a waiting police van on a nearby logging road.

A few hundred meters away, Agent Garm knew she had only moments to spare before she met the same fate, suspended in a brief moment of privacy with the nearly-unconscious Princess Amira and her father, now severely wounded from his punishing brawl. Faced with imminent death or capture, she was liable to risk everything to complete her mission — whatever fatal consequences in might incur. Already, units had been ordered to close in on their position, with Captain Marte of the Boinas Negras being the closest. Having urgently made his way downhill along the approach road, he was now within eyesight of the dueling pair. Forgoing any backup, which could cost precious seconds, he now sprinted through the cloud of swirling vegetation, hoping to reach his partner before it was too late.

OOC: Very good work on all these posts, guys! And Andrew...wow. Just...wow. I was stunned reading that. This may be your best work yet, at least the best I've seen for as long as I've known you. What an incredible level of emotional intensity! You really feel that the Sultan is on his last ropes, and combined with everything we've experienced with the character over the past decade, it's brings a tear to the eye.

Ryan has, first of all, demanded to know why they wish to have a Vita-Chamber. He is somewhat astonished they went directly to him, given his well-known hatred of tyranny and government interference in private life. While nowhere near as vocal as his friend and protege Francisco D’Anconia, he’s a critic of the Orsonian Empire.

Agreed! Excellent work Andrew.

What are each of the major cities in your nation known for?

Put another way, what are some of the stereotypes associated with place like your national capital and largest cities, and the people who live there? How do things like pace of life, cuisine, or demographics change from place to place? If you had to write a travel guide to your nation, and could only write a sentence or two to advertise each of the highlight destinations, what would you say?

Thank you both very much! I'm finding myself really getting into this RP session and it is definitely making me want to give the best i can possibly give in it. From the suspenseful emotional intensity to the hard hitting action scenes, i truly agree with Orson and think this is some of the best work i have both seen and been apart of in quite sometime, and i am honestly extremely happy with how its turned out so far! And you're right Orson...Andres has been through a lot over the last decade and quite honestly, he really is on his last ropes. This isn't a Sultan trying to defend his nation; this is an elderly father trying to protect his daughter...and he is truly in a very desperate situation, and there's only one way to find out how it ends....

Oceara wrote:Yeah, I mean we'd probably have a fair amount of overlap in policies even if we still are very different countries from our long standing trade and cooperation on the international level.

Agreed. Similar to how you said that Greek influence would have found its way into the Malian Confederation over the years due to our long standing trade and cooperation relationships, i can definitely see some Malian policies being adopted by the Mamaran in the past, which still would hold to this day. Perhaps the Mamarans could have adopted this policy, mainly only doing so with the Malian citizens first, but over time, expanding out to other allied non-citizens that entered the Mamaran Empire, eventually making a similar system of our own, based on your system.

Understood. So they would do the actually calculations of costs and tally up all the cases of citizens and non-citizens, before adding it all up and sending the report back to the Government, which lets them pick from the proper budget to help pay for the various treatments. Once again, it is truly a very well thought out system. It works as a safety blanket, to ensure that the non-citizens of allied nations can receive their treatments, without the fear of being discriminated against. Truly incredible work there! Mamaran citizens visiting the Malian Confederation would definitely be very glad to know that such policies exist. It would make them feel much more secure and protected when visiting.
(And agreed...it can be very dangerous attempting to make large, risky moves that could potentially outrage or anger large segments of the population. So electorates and political leaders will definitely need to be careful with each issue they encounter, to ensure it does not backfire in someway.)

Novo Wagondia wrote:I agree; Carl Lingerton is always a welcome sight.

Indeed! Carl Lingerton has been around for....many years. It is great to be bringing him back! And i agree; Fel has done a fantastic job with his presentation of not just the Olympic games, but of his nation's rich culture and heritage. He has done a fantastic job indeed. And make sure to check your food for poison....Orsonians are always trying to kill foreigners! Lol

Certainly a very interesting question Novo! It was certainly one i had to take sometime to think over and think of the best way to respond. Now firstly, it should be noted that due to the Mamaran Empire's vast size and numerous major cities, i think it would be best if i limited my answer to one major city per geographical region. I do hope it is to your liking:

After spending most of my day with friends for the first time in over a year, I finally got back home and started catching up on NS until my internet router stopped working after my youngest brother messed with it while trying to figure out why his phone wasn't connecting to it. Needless to say, I'm forced to use my phone's hotspot to continue working on my CAS Dispatch and anything else NS related...

Anyway, very nice posts Andrew and Orson (you too, Novo)! Your RP has come a long way even though it hasn't been around that long, and there isn't a time where I don't enjoy reading what you all put out for us here on the rmb.
