That's good, welcome back comrade!

New Tyranniaa wrote:So everyone is coming back, I guess

I think so :)

A bamboo fishing vessel and its crew have been reported missing as the vessel has been gone for a week longer than its planned fishing venture, and the Aldorrian unrated 16-gun sloop of war Novum Mare has been deployed to chart the route in which the crew of said vessel were supposed to have charted.

(for the RP, it's not long but it's just to set the stage for something i have planned)

What are your thoughts on polyamory
In my opinion, it is just an excuse to cheat.

On the other hand, it's probably the best way to solve love triangles and other dramas like that.

On the other hand, maybe the concept of cheating is just an excuse to restrain polyamory.

Or maybe, the cheating of excuse is a restrain of polyamory

Polyamory is quite different from the idea of an open relationship. Polyamory is when three or more people go into a relationship together as typically as equal parties. It can be hard on one or more of there partners due to the nature of the relationship. I personally don't understand how they work, but don't see them as a lesser relationship then then any other kind.

I agree, but I saw an article about a woman who used polyamory as an excuse to cheat on her girlfriend, without the girlfriend's consent with a different man.

Yeah, but that's just a single case

There's most likely more if we'd bother looking them up. That said, I ain't that excited to go read about other people's love life.

Yeah, but I am trying to say there are probably more people in legitimate polyamory relationships than people using it only to justify cheating

A Note on Martian Timekeeping

Years, months, and days - the foundations of timekeeping - are rather different on our terraformed world of Mars from those of Earth. Mars orbits more than 1.5 times as far from the Sun as Earth does with a rather slower orbital velocity than that of Earth, so its years are much longer, and its two moons, Phobos and Deimos, orbit far too fast (with periods of less than 15 hours) to be of much use in signifying months or weeks, although the Martian day is only 40 minutes longer than that of Earth's.

Now, to discuss numbers:
The Martian year is equivalent to approximately 687 Earth days, or 668.6 Martian sols (days). This is about 1.88 Earth years. Now, the standard Martian calendar is denoted in 'years PTE' (Post-Terraforming Era). The 'years' here used are Martian years, and the year at the beginning of the RP was 467 PTE. 467 PTE is 878 Earth years after the end of terraforming and the abandonment of the towers of Mars. Since Mars was abandoned in the Earth year 2731 CE, the current Earth year as of the start of the RP was 3609 CE.

There are numerous calendar systems for months in use across Mars. One of the most common is a system with 12 months of 33 sols each, and eight months of 34 sols each. The remaining 0.6 sols (of a 668.6 sol year) are sprinkled in as various extra minutes and hours.
Earth's monthly calendar is generally based on the phases of the moon. Mars has moons as well, but Phobos and Deimos orbit far too fast to be of use in making a monthly calendar, with periods of less than half a Martian day. Therefore the monthly system is either entirely arbitrary, or has some basis in the Martian seasons.

Been doing a little work on the timekeeping systems for the Terraformed Mars roleplay, I decided to establish the year as of the start of the RP as the Earth year 3609 AD/CE.

That's just cheating though. If they where monogamous it probably would have happened regardless because some people are just not good people.

I love polyamory. It is fun and relieving for all people who choose to get in :)

same opinion here

my opinion on polyamory is that it should be highly limited and should have all partners be willing participants in this practice and all interconnected
so A is with B, B is with A, and C is with both A and B
but more than three people is just ridiculous and won't work
but in the case of "oh i'm polyamorous i want multiple partners" but these partners don't know each other at all then no that's just an excuse to cheat
