May it be better than this one.

*Gives Coloran a virtual air hug*

I'm sure next year will be better than this one, how could it get any worse?

*Dramatic music intensifies*

I miss you guys. I can’t be on here much, so does anyone have a discord where we could maybe talk sometimes?

Happy new year, Agorans

I think most are in agreement that this has been a special year for the world, but it has also been a very unusual year for Agora in a lot of ways, personally I've never been so inactive on Nationstates in the five years I've been on this site. Hopefully in the future we might be able to recapture the magic of this place, in any event I have faith that no matter how long we stay off the site to pursue other activities we'll eventually find our way back home.

Here's to 2021!

Cue flamethrowers!

Happy 2021, all.

Happy 2021!

First day of February and got more snow than on Christmas...AMAZING!

A classmate from my linguistics class asked the teacher "native speakers of a language have an intuitive understanding of the grammar of their language and know when a sentence doesn't work but there are languages with drastically different grammar rules, is it possible to learn these rules and recognize errors?"

My (unfortunately only mental) response: Not from a Jedi

Sure, it's possible to learn. But languages also evolve through errors and misinterpretations of the rules, so how would you know whether you're learning the language or forcing its evolution?

Don't be so hasty. If 2020 taught us anything, it's to wait until July or August before we decide, okay?

So about seven thousand languages are spoken on Earth today. Yay! I thought I was good knowing one (English) "pretty well," and another (German) "so embarrassingly and perhaps insultingly poorly that I should probably claim that I don't know it at all." You'd think most people would be at least semi-impressed that I know more than one.

But nope! Maybe I could become the first to know them all?

Oh, sure, it's not like anyone else speaks all seven thousand languages either. But ... maybe I could become the first? Quick!--To the language school!

Wait--What I'd be trying to do is impossible. I'd bet money that any people claiming to speak just twenty languages are padding their numbers a bit. One might say I'd never speak all seven thousand licenses. But never say never.

Or, as they say in Basque ...

*Sigh* Never mind. This whole day has worked to establish that I have no idea how to finish that sentence.

As they say in Basque, do as I say, not as I do.

Greetings. Former resident of Agora here, requesting the password to return to the region.

Well I sure do love to Basque in the sunlight

Agreed, I have a bit of a rule to always study as early as possible and to never study late in the evening

Oh good, you're just in time for the upcoming tax season, here in the States.

Witches, according to legend, stole penises and kept them as pets in the Middle Ages. It's sad how many traditions we've just let die.

Best line: "'What was left was tiny,' said 29-year-old Alain Kalala." Well, that's certainly one excuse!

Yeah. It certainly seems like that's the underlying issue going on here. Us poor flawed humans behave in such strange ways, at times...

I just realized: In the Toy Story universe, inflatable sex dolls are alive.
