“How…was that…did you do that?” Tanjiro asks.
“No. That’s the curse of the demons under Kibutsuji’s thrall. Since they come from his cells to some degree, they’re vulnerable to his curse, speaking his full name means death.” Tamayo says.
“She will be dead soon. Demons can usually only die to the sunlight, wisteria or the sword of a demon slayer. Demon fights are meaningless because they can’t strike fatal blows, but destroying the body from within, Muzan alone has the ability to kill demons under his thrall at will.” She says, stepping over to the bloodied remains of the demon, all that was left was a blood covered kimono on the floor and some flesh, Tamayo looks at the disembodied eye of the demon.
“But yes, I’d thought wrong. Members of the twelve Kizuki have a number etched into their eye, this one doesn’t, I don’t think the other one did either, he was too weak.” Tamayo says.
Well damn. Not a pleasant way to live or to die but I dont feel sorry for them. You said the twelve Kizuki have numbers? Liks some sort of heirarchy?"
"Well, remember that all of us, all of us demons, we were humans once. I was a human being at one point. But yes, the twelve Kizuki are the strongest demons under Kibutsuji's control." Tamayo says. Yushiro sighs.
"The sun will be coming up soon, we need to go back inside Lady Tamayo, and these demon slayers probably have to go." Yushiro says, Tanjiro nods.
"Brigid, lets go, we'll help if we can Tamayo-San, with your research." Tanjiro says.
"I do keep that in mind when dealing with demons but not everyone has kept their humanity. You still have a human side to you but these two lost theirs."
She turns to Tanjiro. "Yeah, lets go."
Tanjiro nods and they start walking. Tanjiro has a box that acts as a back back, Nezuko was being carried in it.
“Yeah…the box is because my teacher said demons can’t go in the sun…apparently.” Tanjiro said as he walked, one of the taking crowd flew down.
“Southeast! Southeast! Head southeast!” The crow shouted.
Brigid begins walking and looks at the box. "Sounds similar to how Vampires are. At least thats what I have read." She pauses when the crow flies down. "Are you hearing this Tanjiro?"
“Yeah…they’re kinda annoying.” Tanjiro says as they start heading southeast.
“What’s your story then?” Tanjiro asks.
"My story is not too exciting but Ill tell it anyway. I am just someone who is interested in demons and other things like that. I have been researching this sort of thing for a while and read about the attacks that happened around here recently so decided to travel here and check things out." She looks around as they walk.
“Ah…I’m here because I lost my family, Nezuko was the only survivor, I got back and she’d become a demon, this swordsman saved us though.” Tanjiro says. They step forward and see a man slapping another man across the face in a field, both are wearing demon slayer uniforms.
"Sorry to hear that you lost your family but at least you still have Nezuko, although as a demon. So this swordsman saved you from what exactly?" She stops as they get closer and she sees the men fighting. "This doesnt look good, you know who they are?"
“No…I guess this is why the crow wanted us to go southeast?” Tanjiro says, stepping forward. The taller man slapped the other one, who was wearing a yellow and white Haori.
“Stop crying! The crow said southeast, I don’t care how tired you are!” The taller man shouts.
“Uh, your demon slayers?” Tanjiro says, the taller man looks over.
“Yeah, well in name only for this idiot here.” The taller man says.
"I guess so. Now lets see what the issue is." They step forward and Brigid looks at the two men. "So if you are demon slayers then why are you fighting each other? The demons are the ones who you should be fighting."
“This idiot is a coward! I got partnered with him for some reason!” The taller man says. The other man stands up straight, he’d been sobbing.
“I don’t want to go and fight demons…I wanna go home…” the other one says, the taller man just sighs.
“I’m Genya Shinuzagawa.” The taller man says.
“Z…Zenitsu Agatsuma…” the other one says.
Brigid shakes her head and sighs. "I am just a random outsider but it probably is not helping him that you are fighting him. It may be better if you help him get used to being out. Brigid McDonald by the way.
Genya just rolls his eyes.
“Southeast, the crow said to find this forest, there should be a path we need to follow that’s just off the main path.” Genya says, Tanjiro nods and they start walking. Tanjiro spends most of the walk helping Zenitsu and trying to make him less nervous.
Brigid nods and keeps walking. "Do you know what we might find in this forest?"
"We're looking for a mansion, a large house somehwere out here, apparently there's a demon there." Genya says.
"Oh, right." Tanjiro says, as they walk forward they find a large house, there are a couple of children stood outside the house, looking for a way to get in.
"Right. So we go there and take out the demon. How powerful is the demon that is there?"
“Not sure, the crow seemed to think it had ate a lot of people.” Genya says.
“Oh we’re going to die…” Zenitsu says under his breath. Tanjiro walks to the front door where he sees two children, a boy and a girl, looking for a way in. He steps over and talks to them for a moment before turning around.
“They said they’re looking for their brother, said a monster took him inside, sounds like the demon we’re looking for.” Tanjiro says.
“Hmmm. It must be fairly powerful then so we need to be prepared for a fight.” She follows them up to the house and once there looks at it and sees the kids. She turns to Tanjiro. “Sounds like it. Hopefully we will be able to get their brother out of there alright.”
Tanjiro nods.
“Let’s go.” He says, walking inside, Genya follows with Zenitsu following behind, clearly very worried. Tanjiro leaves the box with Nezuko in it near the door as he steps in to the dark and ruined mansion.
Brigid walks inside, looking around as she does so. She does not see anything too unusual yet but there is a demon here so they need to be wary and cautious.
They walk forward, reaching a central main room, Tanjiro opens the paper doors and steps in, there is a tall demon waiting there, he has drums growing out of his body. The demon immediately hits the drums which causes the room to flip around.
Brigid does not like the look of this and stumbles a bit as the room flips around.
Tanjiro stumbles and falls, he picks himself up and draws his katana.
“Okay, plan?” Tanjiro asks as Genya jumps forward, trying to slash the demon, the demon hits another drum and the rook flips backwards, making rook between the demon and the demon slayers.
