Follow the footsteps! The National Space Agency is carefully monitoring the event.
The feed is going and a transmission is heard, "the footsteps stop here sir"...

A crater is found just beyond the stop point for the footprints.
The crew said they are picking up an anomaly and the feed cuts to black, the an hour later they returned to the space station and said they saw the missing crew alive but apparently captive??? the agency is a bit worried and put them into quarantine.

As it turns out, "captive" meant that they were stuck under a big rock in the crater. All astronauts have minimal injuries.
A huge crane was ordered to come down but during the circularisation a saboteur threw the crane out and it crashed in that very crater, and that crew member was fired he actually was operating it and knocked a crate over throwing the other crane out in to the depths of space.
Why the heck did we bring a crane into space? Anyway, I don't think anyone is strong enough to knock an entire crane into space. Ever tried throwing a ball into space? Not that easy.
Uhhh no that guy was USING another crane and knocked that one over,
