Literally Homestuck here too. Was coughing at work Tuesday and got sent home. Got a note from my doctor saying I should self quarantine and that I should work from home.

The country I live in is currently locked down. All stores are closed besides pharmacies, and supermarkets. The next step is a state of emergency, which would essentially require everyone to stay in their homes.

Here the situation is fairly new although the schools are closing tomorrow everything is quite normal imagine my shock when I went to buy petrol today, I went in to pay as normal and started to walk towards the counter and a large lady shouted STAND BEHIND THE LINE, I looked down and they had stuck yellow tape on the floor to keep a distance from their customers, that shook me more than anything so far.

More than the disease itself, I fear fear and ignorance and the stupidity of mass behaviour.
A friend of mine had a great idea. Let's go through this like the Italian nobles in The Decameron : playing, joking, telling stories.

Huh, look at that. Random people. :V

Homestuck (the webcomic) is a decent way to spend your quarantine time, especially if you're not working and have nothing better to do. It's over 9000 pages of awesome - I'd suspect that a fast reader would take a month to get through it at 8 hours a day. And the experience will be different than many of us existing in the Nation had, since we got the serialized version (i.e. a few pages drip-fed to us per day, with all kinds of discussion on the side.)

Also, if more than a few of y'all are reading it, you should probably not react to it in here. It'd be hilarious to those of us who've read it, but hella spoilery to those of us who didn't.

As for this question - you could call it "automatic"... sort of. Homestuck is a mixed-media webcomic - there's not a lot of it at first (it's modeled on old-school adventure games,) but eventually you'll get into branching paths (and you should follow both,) animations, and even Flash games (like a mini-RPG) as part of the comic. Incidentally, this means that your ancient tablet may have some issues once the "mixed media" comes into play. Breaking out the laptop for the weird stuff is recommended though, because there's often a fair bit of story hidden in those things.

Unfortunately, the whole thing is a slow burn, and there's more than a few people where the adventure game schtick doesn't click and they can't get into it. If you can push through though, it's rather worth it.

Just struck here this past week. Most everything closed except grocery stores and pharmacies. Reduced hours on banks & liquor stores. No cash money accepted, anywhere. Restaurants, debit or visa, takeout only.
We have self-isolated, except for my daily walks.
Have been advised to wash hands, like a surgeon, and dry hands with a paper towel after.

Almost surreal, feels like i am living in netflix series.

I've had a lingering cold for the past 13 days, so I'm stuck at home, lest anyone who sees me goes screaming into the night. I think I have enough food for another week, and hope I'm symptom free by then.

A relative of mine works security at a casino, which is closed. He said there are only 8 persons working there today. Most lights have been turned off and it's eerie.

Somebody posted a meme quoting a paragraph from a Dean Koontz novel predicting that in 2020 there would be a pandemic for which there is no cure. It would spontaneously disappear, but would return later. Does anyone know what novel this is from? It's a really creepy fictional prediction.

My state is near Geese and we are pretty much one step away from full quarantine. All non-essential government services have been suspended and all non-essential businesses have been shut down, with enforcement measures in place. Also I go to university in another state and I was just informed yesterday I'm being evicted and have to travel across the country to move out. Hope all y'all and your families are safe and doing well.

Does this mean you'll have to fly? Better hurry; I think interstate flying will be the next ban.

BTW, it's a weird coincidence that we're in a place called Homestuck.

My family wants to drive. 13 hours one way. I have at-risk people in my household and I air travel is just too risky

I mentioned that earlier ... the irony!

Odd I had been reading it and wrote it in my last post as Homestruck only just noticed it's Homestuck

Good luck. Let us know if you start this journey.

Have a safe road trip.

As one of our covid-19 cases was a student at university.
Our local universities have sent local kids home, as foreign students are not allowed to travel.
This gives the remaining students room to practice social distancing.

I have cancelled two driving trips to see friends during what would have been my school's Spring Break. As an older adult who would have been going to visit other older adults, the trips seemed a bit irresponsible.

Our state's education department has waived the state testing requirement for this school year since all state public schools are out until the end of April (or possibly later). Good move by the state.

I had 3 lunch dates, all cancelled. I was really looking forward to them, because I hadn't been out to lunch with anyone since before Christmas.

I've been sick for 3 weeks, probably a common cold, but the symptoms were a little different--mostly coughing, so much so that my chest and back are still sore, even though I'm mostly over the cold. So I haven't been out. Hoping the toilet paper lasts! Got enough food to last another week.

Kalmukia is sick and has gone back to TR. I hope it's not the conavirus.

I remember my mother telling me about mandatory quarantines when my brother had scarlet fever. (He was very much older than I am.) A red scarf was hung on the door, nobody was allowed in. They had no antibiotics then. Thank Jesus we live in a different time.

Our province has just declared a state of emergency. Provincial borders & Parks closed. Only returning citizens allowed into province with 2 week isolation in effect. No gatherings larger than five people.

Seems people were gathering in parks and beaches & playing street hockey not practicing self isolation.
Returning from vacation some were grocery shopping before self-isolating for 2 weeks.
Not following the laws will result in fines for people and business involved.

*Shakes head, the stupidity of people just amazes me.*

My county just got the stay-at-home orders, and also the county my university is in. Education-relation travel is one of the exceptions, however....
An unfortunate thing is last month I just signed a lease for an apartment near my university and so I now owe rent even though I can't buy furniture, move in, or live there. I also had a job lined up for the summer, the company has gone remote and I don't know if that job will be happening anymore. What a mess

“ Too bad the young people dancing on the beaches in FL and CA think that they can live forever.”

Not anymore. The governor and a lot of localities finally shut that crap down. Too little too late.

The consensus is "business as usual." Therefore, we'll be flying along. Many thanks to this region for putting up with us!

*floats off into the sunset*
Thanks for hosting us! :D
Stay safe, wash those hands, and do the social distancing!
