Overwhelmingly positive reviews of The Layem Times are clogging the RMB, even after CONFEDOFLAYEM News started their own newspaper. RMB goers are quick to write their praises of the newspaper and the articles within. Those who praise the paper include Brorack, Alkidofullis, Ben Krona, Layem, and Virconia. “The amount of detail! You deserve a pat on the back,” says Alkidofullis, a Citizen. Brorack states that it’s “good, but I did not defend lilly. I hate them because they remind me of what I was like.”

Layem, founder of the region and an alias of Maur, has this to offer: “I approve of the Layem Times. Good stuff.” However, one remains critical of the newspaper: CONFEDOFLAYEM News. “Hi! I saw a message saying that my newspaper will never be as good as the Layem Times. I want to make a newspaper with articles written by people in the Confederacy of Layem community. I saw the Layem Times, and the articles in it were very short. I want to make a longer newspaper with in-depth articles. So, please submit an article. It doesn’t have to be long, but I would prefer it to be,” they say. Now we will fact check their claims.

Fact Check:

Yes, Masconvia did say that the Layem Times will always be better than their
newspaper (which may or may not be true; only time will tell). However, all articles are written by bonafide Confederacy of Layem citizens (so far). Yes, the articles are short, but you may not understand how difficult it is to maintain a mainstream form of media in a region with such a high populace, especially if said media has a deadline such as ours. The comment about in-depth articles is a half-truth, some articles are in-depth looks at certain subjects, such as excellent roleplay pieces written by Muttartia and the main articles. Yes, most may not be in-depth, but they do give you a real glance at the goings-on of Layem.

Japanese Civil War:
The highly contentious and betted on Japanese Civil War has finally ended. While many nations were cheering for specific clans to win, the clan who came out victorious were the Saito. This victory finally brings peace to Japan as 2 decades of civil war ended only a couple of years ago.

Jamalia:
Jamalia, which as of the writing of this article, occupies most of Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, and most of Morocco. They have won many battles to get the land they have today, and are a huge threat to Spain and Italy, two of the most powerful nations in the RP. Spain thought of crusading them, since they are Muslim, but they ultimately did not do so.

Kingdom of Cheese:
After nearly a decade of being puppeted by Sweden, the Kingdom of Cheese had finally had enough and declared independence from its puppeteer. The move was successful, as the newly independent nation got their old lands back, and enjoys a buffet of cheese sent from various other nations.

New World Crops:
The first shipments of crops from New World colonies have arrived at the various nation’s main ports, and everyone wants a piece of the new crops. England brought mainly tobacco, France brought mainly cotton, and Spain brought mainly sugar, along with other nations bringing other crops. This has done wonders for the nation’s economies, as demand for these goods are rather high.

Virconia Blasts CONFED OFLAYEM News!

FIRST OF ALL, WE HAVE 9 PEOPLE WORKING ON THIS NEWSPAPER, AND 5 PAGES ISN'T SHORT, AND MOST OF THOSE ARITCLES HAVE BEEN CONDENSED. ALSO, DO YOU WANT TO SEE A LONG NEWSPAPER THAT IS HARD TO READ? RMB

Many new nations have joined the RMB, which is good as it's always good to see new faces here in the RMB. A notable nation was Massechusetts, who was a very good roleplayer, but unfortunately had to leave due to personal issues. Another new nation is Ben Krona, who is pretty relaxed, and seems to just say random things. That was the news for the RMB.

ISSUE #2:
Councillor of Justice Fennoscandian Union has announced something that strategists here at The Layem Times have been predicting for a while now: Layem has become a One-Party state. This is evident in the current election, where only a single party is running candidates.

However, several people disagree with the current system, including Fenno himself. This article looks at the possible consequences and positives of a single-party system in our great region.

Free Kickapoo, a Citizen, has publicly disagreed with the system on the RMB. “Here are a couple quotes from the recruitment telegram that brought me here: “Here at Layem our number one priority is free speech and freedom of expression.
‘A beacon of nations with ideological differences that can come together and form something truly great,’” he says, “I don't believe these are compatible with a one party state.”

Fenno, although a Loyalist, has this to say on the matter: “I'm a Loyalist, but the one party system doesn't allow for a choice for voters, and that is necessary to maintain a democracy. We need more parties. Else we could become a dictatorship in practice, if the same candidates keep getting elected over and over again, without an opposition. People should be able to create their own parties to stop this from becoming the future of Layem.”

Most other Loyalists tend to agree that the region isn’t single partisan, but that everyone agrees so creating another party wouldn’t be necessary.

Delegate
As most of you probably know, Maur is the current WA delegate for Layem, but on the 19th of June, Masconvia brung up a statement in the constitution in Article II, Section I which said, “WA Delegate - The WA delegate will be chosen by the founder once a year. A person can serve as many terms as the founder wants.” Maur then stated that it would be him until “ I find some mature or with the know-how of the NSGP Forums, and the current WA atmosphere that can represent our region”, because it is a very important position in the government. Later on, Maur later edited it, making it : WA Delegate - It’s a position that will be given to anyone at random time, it is chosen by the founder and can be himself if he wants it to be. After Councillor of Justice, Fennoscandia Union questioned Mauricil’s constitutional ability to alter the constitution without telling any other members of the region and the Ministry, Mauricil responded, saying the Confederacy of Layem Government Positions Amendment gave him the power to alter the constitution to change government positions to change Layem into a constitutional monarchy, which includes changing the descriptions of different government positions.

Elections
In the RMB, Maur has announced that the government will have some of its positions switched to make laws and orders more efficient. Elections will take place on June 30th. Please be prepared for the large amounts of telegrams you will be receiving. The available positions in the new and improved government will be as followed: Chancellor, Minister of Foriegn Affairs, Minister of Interior Affairs. Candidate wise, Tim and Pres no longer wish to run for a position, at least in this election.

Discord
You have your own opinion on if you like the Discord, but do others agree with you? Today we will be looking at the public’s opinion on what the discord does well and not so well.

What do most people like about the Discord?

Most people tend to like how you are free to day what you want. Layem welcomes everybody, no matter what their political views are. You are allowed to argue for and against what you want. Another thing mentioned is that the server does not have strict rules about what you want to say and where. It is a simple system, there are facetious channels and serious channels. To conclude, most people enjoy the political freedom and lenient rules of the Layem Discord.

What do most people dislike about the Discord?

Most people find the Discord to be largely devoid of major issues. One issue that came up is that aforementioned political freedom causes arguments among the people. This comes naturally when all political views are allowed.

Another rather trivial issue that popped up had to do with the selection of emojis. If you have an idea for an emoji, suggest it to a government official.

In conclusion, the Discord is well liked by the public. The political freedom and lenient rules make it a good place to share your opinion on certain topics, although sometimes you may get into an argument with others. If you have any other ideas on how the Discord could be improved, contact Maur or another high ranking individual.

Kalaria
For those unfamiliar with Kalaria, he was an original member in Layem. He stayed for 6 months before leaving, while he left, members created the book of Kalaria which is still on Layem's page on NS to this day. He returned after 9 months, he stayed for a while until around a year ago, he had to leave because of either a close friend or family member becoming ill, he promised to return but he hasn't since. Since around February 2020, we say hail every day at 8:08 pm EST after the MEE6 bot says, "Daily reminder to pray for our lord and savior Kalaria's return as we will begin our final crusade on Enadia," on the Layem Discord Server. On the 19th of June, Randy realized the similarity between Jalaria and Kalaria in names, and reasoned that Jalaria must be Kalaria on a different account. After everyone started freaking out, Jalaria (AmazingJAM on discord) had to clarify, and say it was just a coincidence. Even though it was mostly a meme, it is still surprising that someone with a name so close to Kalaria joined Layem without even knowing who he is!

Today, there was a strange sight in the Western European section of the Roleplay. As England (Muttartia), Spain (Polish People’s Republic), and Germany (Holviet) were invading France because of a harsh treaty France gave Germany in a previous war, the three nations were met with no resistance from the defending French. The initial reaction to the sight was that France was planning a sneak attack, but the real reason was that because France taxed its peasants so heavily (100% tax rate, to be exact), they revolted against the King and the Royal Family had to flee to the French colony in present day Savannah, Georgia. As this happened, the three aforementioned countries were making their way towards Paris, where the highest number of rogue citizens lived. Once the English Navy got to Paris, they greeted the rogue civilians with cannonfire, which killed an estimated 10 civilians. The King ordered it to be canceled with fears that the Pope would excommunicate England from the Catholic Church. After this, they obliged and left France for good. The only outcomes of this war were that Spain got some French land, and everyone else went home empty handed.

Thanos Beatbox
Meanwhile, Citizen Elvato has tortured himself by listening to Thanos Beatbox for twelve hours in order to beat his world record. Sadly, Elvato neither streamed nor recorded themself doing so, therefore the record is not verified. “But I can just flex on people that I’m retarded and spent so much time listening to Thanos Beatbox,” he says. Now Elvato is up to something bigger: creating a collective factbook of all Layem meme records.

Alts In the RMB? Rumors about alts have been flying around the RMB. At least some people say that they have alternate accounts, like SomethingIsWrongHere, who has an alt called "FaF FoF." But countries with similar names, like Brorack and Broracka and South Korea and North Korea are definitely causing suspicion. So, we went ahead and asked two members of the Discord server, Krm and Lyrakia. Both of them were not really sure, so they are probably not alts, but time will tell.
In other news, After Broracka declared war on lilly, many people helped him including Sembesso, Layem Australia, and SomethingIs WrongHere. Brorack was the only one to defend lilly, though. Also, we have created a list of suspected alts: South Korea, Mac-Ong Kong, Broracka.

ISSUE #1
Thursday afternoon at 5:00 EST, recently convicted traitor Mascovia was released from #gulag after a five-day sentence given on Monday. Exhibiting good behaviour, Masconvia was released early per terms given to him by former Councillor of Justice Fennoscandian Union (Fenn). Overall, the public finds this a suitable punishment. While the crowd on the RMB speaks a bit more hateful to him than those on Discord, the general consensus seems to be that Masconvia’s punishment was well deserved indeed.
On Monday, Masconvia pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Sedition after a failed coup on the region’s founder, Mauroa (known as

Maur). Angry with how Maur was treating Discord members, Masconvia set out to impeach and eventually overthrow the Founder. It obviously did not work, resulting in his eventual capture, conviction, and imprisonment.
Citizen of Layem and Royal Guard Benderk is on the fence about Masconvia’s punishment, saying he “doesn’t really care all that much about it.” Understandable, as recently gathered information shows that Masconvia will be calling for unity and moving forward from his crimes. Citizen Urbitty agrees that it “sounds good.” Urbitty hasn’t voiced their opinion much on the matter.

Before the trials, RMB goers suggested things such as sanctioning (Xjenza), crusading (Brorack), and blowing him up (Brorack).

Election Time!
The June Elections are coming! This past Thursday, at nearly 10:00 a.m. EST, Chancellor Preussterreich (Pres) called for an election, with it being the first under the Election Elaboration Act. Polling opens at 8:00 a.m EST on June 30th and ends the same time on July 2nd.
Broracka
Broracka: Antagonist or just being framed? On the RMB, Broracka is mainly seen as a bad guy. But there has been no evidence that Broracka has said anything bad or negative to ANY RMB members. So, we went and asked Broracka a question. When we went to ask them a question though, it showed that they transformed into a democratic state, which means they had a government reform of some kind. I would say that they are probably not bad people, but that's my opinion.

Elections
Both Pres and Former Vice Chancellor and Councillor of Interior Affairs Timawas (Tim) have declined participation in the elections, with Pres stating that “I do not have any intentions to run for a government position in the upcoming election. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving both as your Councillor of Foreign Affairs for two terms and also as your Chancellor, although I feel my career has reached its natural end. Looking back on it, plenty has happened during my time in our great Confederacy's government, and we have seen it reassert itself into a worldwide superpower. Despite this I feel like I represent too much of what Layem used to be, and like Nexus before me, I feel I have done all of what I can or will do. It truly has been a pleasure.”
Tim states that “It is with great pride that I announce that I am no longer planning to run for re-election nor run for another position in the executive branch of the regional government. It has been a good run for the past two terms as Councilor of Interior Affairs and I have got to say, we have achieved a lot together. Now it is time to pass the torch to whomever will win this next election. Truly, it was an honour to serve.”
Four government positions are up for election: Supreme Chancellor, Councillor of Interior Affairs, Councillor of Foreign Affairs, and Speaker of the Council. Currently only three of those positions are filled, all uncontested. Benderk (Ben) is running for Supreme Chancellor, Phillipeland for Foreign Affairs, and Virconia for Interior Affairs. So far the only party with candidates is the Free Layem Political Party (the Loyalists), who are the main and only political party of Layem since the dissolution of the PCSG.

This week, a fair amount of action took place at the Confederacy of Layem Roleplay server.
Introduction of Colonies
First things first, the arrival of 1520 meant that colonies were finally allowed to take shape in the Americas. With this arrival, several nations set their explorers westward to search and colonize these new and foreign lands. Here are the confirmed claims as of 6/17:

Battle Recap
Protestant Takeover- Italy and Germany declared war
on the Anti-Paplic Empire due to the fact that they had recently turned Protestant and Germany, one of the nations fighting against the Anti-Paplic Empire, said that switching was an “act against God”. The battle was a decisive Italian and German victory.

1st Battle of Alexandria- Greece (Benderk) snuck into Alexandria via Spanish ships and the battle ended in a ceasefire because the Egyptian sun was too hot to fight in.

French-German War- Due to colonial disputes in the New World, Germany sent some ships to the Northern Coast of France, which in turn sparked the French-German War. The war took around 8 months (in RP time) to complete and was a French victory after Germany surrendered to avoid further death and suffering.

Japanese Civil War- This huge conflict, which has happened for at least 20 years on the writing of this article, has seen a bit of drama on the world stage. There were around 40 clans to start with, but that has since shrunken down to 10 clans.

Technological Advancements
With the introduction of guns in 1515, battles across the world have become way more advanced. The first nation to produce firearms were the Zhang, who sold their firearms to various European merchants and governments. Soon after the Zhang started producing firearms, other nations, including Germany, Tibet, and Jochi also started the production of these new weapons of war and destruction.
