If they can be trained for war, they can be retrained to other complex dangerous tasks: undersea resource extraction, protection of offshore facilities, colonization of underseas (both on Lazarus) and in outer space! (There are plenty of moons around gas giants with subterranean seas: a race of water-breathing irradiated beings would be at home traveling to there and settling. And additional taxable population).

Or simply storage in a cryogenics facilities until further use. "In case of war, break the alarm".

The effect of the atmosphere on Kethru's ship wasn't something it got to experience last time. The violent spinning of his falling prison cell hadn't exactly offered the best view, and Kethru was only conscious for part of the journey anyway. Now, as it guides the ship down, Kethru watches from the front window. Tentacles move across the console and the ship accelerates, breaking through the atmosphere shortly after. Having entered on a side of the Earth over which night has fallen, Kethru watches the lights as it descends. Making a few noises to itself, Kethru realises that the lights are those of civilisation, not naturally occurring. There were more of the natives than it thought.

Kethru steers the ship away from many of the landmasses, moving high above the surface at significant speed. Apart from the occasional tentacle twitch, Kethru stands still as it searches for a suitable place to land. After three hours, it finds one, slowing and letting the ship drift down. It has chosen what looks to be an uninhabited island with thick forested foliage. Kethru hovers for a moment above a clearing before manoeuvring the ship straight down. It is be a tight squeeze, but apart from a few branches scraping the metal, all is well. It remains to be know if anything detected the ship's arrival, but after checking all the systems are functional and that the ship can take off with haste should it need it, Kethru pushes the button to open the doors and steps forth into the cold moonless night.

The seat warmer was working, the Mzeusian tea was good, the film was even better despite Seris having having watched it eight times already, once in the past week. None of these things were noticed by Seris, however, as he was fast asleep, arms still in their place on the armrests. A well-groomed man, tall and thin with an ironed waistcoat and a pair of black shoes that shined in the light from the screen that dominated one wall stood in the doorway. He checked his watch, look up with an impassive gaze, and made his way down the shallow steps to the front row of the cinema.

"Sir," he said, shaking Seris. "Sir, Oleg is here."

"Whaa?" came the reply.

"Oleg Bokodiev is here." the man repeated, louder than before."

"Oleg!" Seris straightened, rubbed his eyes and looked at the film that was still playing. "Oh, look at that!" he smiled. "We must be thirty three minutes in." Seris yawned and stood. "Oleg, eh? He's here as in where?"

"He is waiting in the lobby, sir."

"Oh right." Seris began taking the steps and his butler followed behind. "Tell him I'll meet in in twenty minutes. Maybe you can show him the new Rodi paintings that just came in."

"Yes sir." The butler replied, passing Seris and holding the cinema door open for him.

"Offer him some Mzeusian tea again. I've never heard of anyone who doesn't like it so I assume he's only had the cheap stuff. Must go shopping in the fifth circle of hell."

With that, Seris left the room, walking to the left. His butler shut the door and walked right, heading to the lobby.
