Kentucky Fried Penguin franchising fast casual concept

Kentucky Fried Penguin, a fast casual restaurant concept created by the full-service dining concept, Krill Grill, is opening its fourth franchise location next month in Rothera, bringing the total number in Volaworand to 17 units.

The Rothera location, which is an evolution of KFP's lab location that opened in Faraday last year, will be a model for more than 50 KFP franchise locations already sold and scheduled to open throughout the South Pacific region in the next 48 months, according to a company press release. Immediately following the Kentucky Fried Penguin opening, international locations will open in Melbourne, Tokyo, and Johannesburg.

Kentucky Fried Penguin's seafood themed menu offerings include fish burgers, seafood tacos, 'penguin' wings, spicy tenders, salads, ice cream shakes and beer. The 2,700-square-foot Rothera unit will also feature the Crowler, a 32-ounce sealable can for draft beer, in addition to happy hour, daily specials and kids' meals.

Jack Gandolfo, the franchise owner, is also opening another KFP location in Halley later this year.

"It's a great brand with great food," Gandolfo said. "I'm a big fan of the Krill Grill brand and KFP is a great transition into the fast-casual environment featuring Krill Grill's best products. I'm excited to showcase the restaurant to our customers."

Krill Grill is in the process of seeking out experienced franchise owners. The estimated expenditures to build a Kentucky Fried Penguin are £225,000 – £464,000, according to the company's release.
