Fazembe Dynastic Rule

The Fazembe dynasty started with the rule of Hadenka Fazembe, a major leader during the war for independence and a member of the minority Tizi tribe. It continued on with his son, Garenga, known affectionately as 'Papa Gengi' who took over after the death of his father in 1976. He had the longest rule of any of the Fazembes, for a good 31 years, until his untimely death as the result of a rebel terrorist bombing during Indpendence Day festivities. Rule was brief under his wife, Hana, who ceded power to their son, Linaga, after 4 years trying to uphold the fragile power structure maintained by her late husband and fend off numerous attempted coups. Linaga took power and wiped out all dissidents and suspect government officials in a purge soon after ascending to the Presidential Palace.

Linaga Fazembe, the current President-For-Life, is known as 'Papa Lini' to the people. He leads with the typical Iron fist style of most dictators and is constantly trying to keep the other tribes in line, mainly the Zama, who bristle at continuing Tizi rule under the Fazembes. There is also a major Marxist insurgency that has been fighting for decades to overturn the near fascist regime. They hope to install a Socialist, benevolent leadership over Mubata. While proclaiming to be egalitarian, the MFM (Mubatan Freedom Movement) are mainly made up of the Zama majority tribe, and many other disenfranchised tribes see the MFM as merely a ploy to install a Zama dominant regime.
