The Transatlantic Treaty

This treaty was written and signed to bring nations across the Atlantic Ocean closer together and to provide an organisation to address issues from all countries involved and to make a more peaceful world. The powers of Pyrox and USoN made this treaty so they can unite the Atlantic and to end all conflict on its waters.

Article 1: Membership to the Transatlantic Treaty organisation

To become a member the applying nation must have an Atlantic coast or be part of a typically Atlantic continent, (Europe, Africa, South America). The applying nation must also be a serious contender and have a functional military and stable Government. The applicant may also put forwards its protectorates and colonies.

Article 2: Governing Body of the Transatlantic Treaty Organisation

The organisation is run by a Secretary General who is elected by members. The Secretary General administrates, organises meetings, and is the face of TATO. The Secretary General is able to visit all member states and has the ability to suspend member states if his/her entry is blocked. The World Assembly delegate is also elected by members, the WA delegate represents the Organisation in the World Assembly and votes on WA legislation for TATO.

Article 3: Nuclear Weapons Policy

The Organisation disapproves of such weapons but understands they are a necessary deterrent, member nations which already owns such weapons will be allowed to keep them but are not allowed to increase their nuclear arsenal, member nations without nuclear weapons are only allowed to own them if TATO has made a full safety review and believes the nation to be stable and not a threat. The maximum amount of Nuclear Weapons a member who wishes to gain some is 5, no more and no less.

Article 4: Nuclear Testing

Member states are only allowed to test Nuclear Weapons after asking TATO and inspector have made a full safety review. Nuclear Testing above ground or water is banned, tests are only permitted under ground and away from civilians. Any member state which goes against this policy will be suspended and will have sanctions placed on them until Nuclear material is removed from the Nation.

Article 5: Defence

If one member state is attacked by a nation which is not a member of the organisation, then all of TATO is attacked and is obliged to help defend that nation. If a member state is the aggressor, then member states are not obliged to assist unless it is a 'just war' which affects all of TATO. If it is an unjustified war then the attacking member state will be suspended from TATO. Since the war between Milon, Anglo-Wales and Pyrox and USoN, any member state that attacks another will be immediately suspended from TATO and other member states are given permission to attack that nation.

Article 6: Human Rights

All member states are required to make sure their citizens are given all their Basic human rights. If they do not then TATO may vote on putting economic sanctions on that member state. Human rights include the Right to Education, Freedom of Speech, Right to shelter, right to food and water, right to Property and all others listed by the World Assembly.
