General Automobile Company
The General Automobile Company S.A. (Estandér: Companhia Geral de Automóveis S.A.; CGA) is an Estandér automotive manufacturing company headquartered in Fortaleza, Tósares. It is the second-largest automaker in Estandé behind Farinha Motor Company S.A., which surpassed CGA sales in 2001. CGA itself does not produce vehicles but manufactures them through its four main marques, Soares, Prataluxo, Acordo, and Fortaleza Heavy Industries. Its main brand, Soares, is the oldest continuously operational automotive brand in the Estandér market, founded in 1912. Motores Soares and Morais Automotive Company were both consolidated as marques of the newly-founded CGA after Luís da Cunha Soares acquired the latter. Soares grew CGA into an automotive behemoth until it reached its zenith, in the 1930s, where it had seven different brands under its belt and dominated the automotive market. CGA saw a rapid decline as Prime Minister Aleixo Rodrigues came to power, and it was eventually nationalised in 1948 and reincorporated into the Comboios Industriais e Nacionais, Transportes e Siderurgia. Several brands operated by the former CGA were discontinued under CINTS, however, Soares continued to operate as Soares National Automotive and became the main manufacturer of vehicles for CINTS. CINTS was eventually privatised and CGA was re-established in 1976.

Its largest marque, Soares, formally the Soares Automotive Division of General Automobile Company, produces the most vehicles and boasts the biggest sales within CGA. The company's Prataluxo Luxury Car Division of CGA produces higher-end and more 'luxurious' models of Soares automobiles. The Acordo High-Performance Division of CGA produces sportscars and racecars. Lastly, Fortaleza Heavy Industries, or Indústrias Pesadas de Fortaleza, produces military vehicles, some civilian commercial vehicles, and public transport.
