The President

The President represents the Liberal Democratic Union in the World Assembly, serving as the WA Delegate, and presides over the Administration.

The President will be elected by the Congress of the Liberal Democratic Union by a poll on the Regional Message Board every four calendar months and may serve for a maximum of two consecutive terms. Eligibility for candidacy for President requires Citizenship status of at least one calendar month and membership of the World Assembly.

Powers/Responsibilities of the President:
a. Communications
b. Border Control
c. Embassies
d. Appearance
e Polls

The Vice President

The Vice President will assist the President in every matter. In the absence of the President, he or she ceases to exist, or is inactive for more than seven days, the Vice President will act as the Executive. If the President becomes active again, their control of the region will be restored. If the President has not been active for more than fourteen days, any Member Nation may call for an impeachment trial.

During the initial election for President, the Vice President will be nominated by the Presidential Candidate, and will be elected as their running mate by the Congress of the Liberal Democratic Union through a poll on the Regional Message Board.

Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of Congress.

Powers/Responsibilities of the Vice President:
a. Executive (assigned by the President only during absence)
b. Communications
c. Border Control
d. Embassies
e. Appearance
f. Polls

Members of the Administration hold executive responsibility for their respective departments.

Members of the Administration will be elected by the Congress of the Liberal Democratic Union by a poll on the Regional Message Board every four calendar months and may serve for a maximum of two consecutive terms.

Members of the Administration and the responsibilities are as follows:

a. Home Secretary
i. Appearance
ii. Polls
iii. Border Control
iv. Communications
v. Welcoming Nations
vi. Community Engagement
vii. Approving Citizenship Applications

b. Foreign Secretary
i. Polls
ii. Embassies
iii. Communications
iv. Foreign Relations
v. Recruitment

Members of the Administration may appoint deputies and delegate responsibilities to them.

The positions of Foreign Secretary and Home Secretary are not to be abolished, except by further constitutional change, and are always to be elected. No nation may be appointed to the position by the President, they must be elected to the position by the rest of the region. And, any nations elected to either position, may not resign their posts for another governmental post within the duration of their term (this does not apply to the election period, only after they are elected).

New positions must be created by a constitutional amendment, and existing positions must be abolished the same way. No positions may be arbitrarily defined or created, for any reason, and all must have a specific purpose in the regional government.

These rules do not apply to extra-governmental positions, such as Speaker.

The Speaker

The Speaker is the Leader of Congress, and not a Member of the Administration. The Speaker is responsible for receiving proposed bills from members of Congress, scrutinising them and providing a technical and legal opinion, submitting them to the floor of Congress for debate, setting up and administering votes, and maintaining the library of Congress. Additionally, elections to the offices of President and Members of the Administration will be administered by the Speaker.

The Speaker will be elected by the Congress of the Liberal Democratic Union by a poll on the Regional Message Board every four calendar months and may serve for a maximum of two consecutive terms.

The Director of Role-Play

The Director of Role-Play is not a Member of the Government and deals with all affairs related to role-playing. The Director of Role-Play will be elected by the Congress of the Liberal Democratic Union by a poll on the Regional Message Board every four calendar months during the general election. If the position remains vacant, then they may be appointed by the acting administration. The Director of Role-Play may also be held by a government member, such as the Speaker, Home Secretary or Foreign Secretary, as long as they are willing to fulfill the role's duties.

Responsibilities are as follows:
a. Maintaining the map (though an agreement can be reached with another nation as the cartographer)
b. Making sure to set an example of role-play post quality
c. Encouraging role-play throughout the region, and motivating nations to get involved
d. Creating new ways to encourage role-play (such as newspapers, announcements, etc.)
e. Running region-wide role-plays
f. Fairly settling role-play disputes
g. Setting up a "Role-Play Zone" (whether it be in the RMB or off-site forum)

bis section Director of Role-play

The Director of Role-play must ensure that the Role-play rules, which are voted on and are accepted by the congress, are followed by each member participating in the Role-play. The current role-play rules can be seen here.

*All Government Officers (excluding Director of Role-Play) must hold and maintain World Assembly (WA) membership.

Between October 1st and October 21st, the Liberal Democratic Union held elections, for those who missed it. As the elections have ended, we would like to thank Sjevre for successfully executing out the democratic process, and for our elected candidates, we wish the best of their ability to serve the region over the next four months. Here are the results of the elections: as followed

Presidential Election

Usoniy (8 votes) (55%)
Romanum et Britannia Minor (7 votes) (45%)

There was a presidential election before that originally, but I will consider it invalid for the sake of my time.

Home Secretary
Lots 0f Freedom (WON UNANIMOUSLY DUE TO Aquilaegens being VP candidate for Usoniy)
Aquilaegens (CHOSEN AS VICE PRESIDENTAL CANDIDATE FOR USONIY)

Foreign Secretary
Abelist wins UNANIMOUSLY (8-0)

Non-Administrative Positions (Speaker of Congress)
United Carolinia elected unanimously as Speaker of Congress. (10-0)

Director of Roleplay Elections
Potenzia (ELECTED UNANIMOUSLY) (10-0)
Usoniy (RAN FOR PRESIDENT)
Oruzia (LOST)

Increase in Activity
Vantier and Sjevre, in some posts, stated this
page=display_region_rmb/region=liberal_democratic_union?postid=53736857#p53736857
page=display_region_rmb/region=liberal_democratic_union?postid=53736886#p53736886

They have talked about the massive increase in activity since last year, which is proven true with facts, since we had an increase of 739 rmb pages from a year ago. In 2 months, for example, we made progress by going from 2000 rmb pages to 2252 rmb pages (+252) in 2 months and last week was bombarded with multiple rmb messages. Let's continue this and make our region even more active and fun!

Roleplay Changes
Potenzia has updated our regional roleplay map. Here are the changes as it follows.

Atena has been added to Germany.

Ventura nation has claimed Angola.

Almitruz has relocated to the Persian Gulf.

Usoniy has been given more of the USA.

The Liberal Democratic Union diplomatically recognises these nations and territories on an international level.

Note:

NPC land (land that is not part of a LDU nation) is available for claim. To claim a piece of land, post in the Regional Message Board AND send a telegram to Potenzia.

If the land you want to claim has already been claimed, you can still send a telegram and it may become available, especially in regards to nations and empires that have already claimed a lot of territory. (Nations with an asterisk (*) are puppet nations and may also be subject to change.)

All nations should have at least one Factbook and remain active to maintain their spot on the map. Nations that do not participate in the regional role-play or have not posted on the RMB for 60 days or more will be removed at the discretion of the cartographer.
